otter it is a vicious circle isn't it, migraines aren't helped by NOT exercising but when you have lots of migraines you just don't want to exercise. I AM going to exercise tonight. I have told my bf he has to make me after work.... He doesn't seem convinced that he will be able to make me do anything after work!

mzzzf · 12/02/2015 09:25

Morning ladies. I've stepped down the exercise too, just doing dog walking and squats/lunges type thing.

I've got my second dating scan today - I'm nervous as I'm going on my own as DH isn't able to come, so I'm really hoping everything is fine and dandy!

Is anyone feeling flutters yet? I 'think' I might have felt things over the last couple of days but it's just a passing feeling that I can't be sure.

sianihedgehog · 12/02/2015 10:20

After having my nasty accident at 6 weeks I've just (today and yesterday) started trying to cycle to work again and OH GOD IT IS HORRIBLE. I genuinely had to stop by the side of the road and gag, trying not to lose my lunch. And I can barely manage to get above walking speed. Genuinely not certain I'm going to manage getting back into this habit but I've absolutely GOT to do something to get this weight gain under control - there's no way I should be a stone over my usual weight at only 15 weeks, especially given that I only usually weigh just over 8 stone.
I honestly have no idea how to deal with how horrible exercise is right now - I'm so out of breath all the time, and I feel so tired. But I'm normally really active, and I need to do SOME THING.

cattyf · 12/02/2015 10:47

We went back to the hospital for another scan today because they got the inital dates wrong for 12 weeks! We have a new EDD of 28th August now. Glad that everything was looking healthy and normal (not that I'll stop worrying ;) )
I have never been good at exercising anyway so now it's none existent, I've put on about 2.5lbs since I found out which is about what I expected. I am starting pregancy yoga on 24th Feb, offered free through NCT in my area which is a result!
Has anyone signed up for NCT classes yet or are people going for NHS or none at all??

Fanby · 12/02/2015 11:38

Hello! Gosh you guys are all good with the exercise, I'm still absolutely shattered and doing zilch (still in bed now actually Blush).

Guyropes - congrats on the interview, I have one next week too (let's hope we're not going for the same job Wink. Can I ask your thoughts on what you're doing re:pregnancy, are you telling them? Wait and seeing whether you get it and telling them straight away etc?

Had a lovely time in Iceland, lots of walking and eating! I did have a few pains like a stitch when I was away and now all the ligament type pain has stopped which is my newest form of worry - is there anything that doesn't cause worry?! Can't win either way.
I can't do up my jeans any more and want to buy some maternity ones, but am now in a panic that something has happened and shouldn't, oh the things I jinx myself with…

Fanby · 12/02/2015 11:38

cattyf - thanks for the reminder, we're hopefully doing NCT, need to email them back and pay…

x

yumcrumbs · 12/02/2015 13:15

I'm just joining - 13 weeks today, just had my scan yesterday and it suddenly all feels very real!

otter32 · 12/02/2015 16:04

Welcome yumcrumbs and congratulations!

Sorry, I've just read through the thread properly and see that some are having a tough time. Thinking of you.

Wow siani, cycling sounds like waaaay too much effort to me! Maybe start doing something a bit lighter first? Build yourself back up? But don't beat yourself up if you have to lay off it. Try not to stress too much about the weight gain, chances are it's a lot of water. And boobs maybe?! I'm convinced at least 50% of my weight gain is my boobs!

I'm off to body pump for the first pregnant time tonight. Eeek! My teacher is fab, so I'm just going to take it easy.

Fanby, very jealous of Iceland! I've always wanted to go. We were looking at hols but nowhere that is cheap is warm before I turn 28 weeks, and hubby isn't happy for me to fly after that. Ah well, it will save money I guess!

Has anyone else started a list of things they might buy (yes, I am slightly anal!)? I very nearly bought sleep suits and baby gros earlier, then put them back as I still have this jinxing panic in the back of my mind.

sianihedgehog · 12/02/2015 16:11

Not only do I have a list, I have a complete Amazon wishlist and have already bought a tiny outfit. And chosen the pram, which my other half is planning to buy next week after cashing a tax refund cheque!

Bollocks to superstition, I spent the entire first 12 weeks making myself miserable worrying and this baby has been scanned and tested within an inch of its life and found healthy. The odds are astronomically against anything going wrong now, and I'm going to enjoy getting ready and being excited. And I'm going to spread the expense because we're also trying to buy a house and I think there's a very good chance of not having a single spare penny around the time baby arrives!

Guyropes · 12/02/2015 17:18

fanby argh, I just don't know how to play it. I definitely won't be telling them before they offer me the job. IF they offer me the job, I will see. its not an ideal situation really, but I was made redundant last year, and had been looking since I found out our jobs were going. there are so many redundant people round here.

good luck with your interview!

Guyropes · 12/02/2015 17:23

siani, please don't make yourself feel ill!

the rule about exercise is not to go out of your comfort zone.
and I think a stone is FINE in the first trimester, so please don't worry!

www.babycentre.co.uk/t1012831/pregnancy-weight-gain-estimator

you can check here what is a reasonable amount of weight to be putting on... I think if you weigh less, you should be putting more weight on that if you were overweight.

LAM1 · 12/02/2015 18:30

My legs ache today!! Was running so much before the positive test, can't believe how much fitness I have lost. Oh well, cant beat myself up over it. On the subject of weight gain, am 15 weeks 5 days and gained 5lbs....Argh!! But i know its because I have stopped the exercise and spent weeks eating foods I have avoided for months.

LAM1 · 12/02/2015 19:23

Guyropes I've seen similar calculators. I'm one of the sort of people who have to look that sort of thing up.

I've gained half of what that calculator gives as my maximum total pregnancy weight gain in the first trimester alone. DEFINITELY time to sort that shit out.

Joskar · 12/02/2015 21:01

Is anyone else crazy thirsty? Don't remember this with dd but I could drink gallons of water. Esp sparkling water.

Also anyone else still bf an older bairn? If all are you thinking on weaning or trying tandem or what? I was asking my MW about this and she had zero information. Given that my daughter was 6 months old before I met another breast feeding mum in this area I don't think it's an issue she really has come across before!

Glitterrascal · 12/02/2015 22:15

Ali- I've just added you too!

Pumpkinseed2015 · 12/02/2015 23:38

Hi everyone, hope it's ok if I join - I'm new to mumsnet and this is my first post! I'm 15 + 1 weeks - due 5 August with our 2nd baby (we have a 2 year old little boy). Had a mc last August and then threatened mc throughout the first trimester this time round, so have been a bit cautious - but all seems to have stopped now and we had a great 12 week scan a couple of weeks ago, not to mention a growing bump, so we're letting ourselves get excited now! Grin

Fanby · 13/02/2015 08:50

Morning! Welcome to the newbies and congratulations!

Otter32 – we haven't bought anything yet either, it's the jinx factor, it's lovely to have a look online though :) Love the idea of the Amazon wishlist :)

Guyropes – positive thinking! You will get the job!! :D If I am lucky enough to get it i'm leaning towards telling them upon a written offer just to avoid any awkwardness later down the line, but then I think they could be really mean when I start, ah it's a minefield! Great time for redundancies hmm?! Grrr, honestly i'm still fuming at my old company….Am I right in thinking that without a job we're not entitled to stat maternity pay right?

Joskar – SO THIRSTY! It's absolutely ridiculous. I can't go without a drink for the littlest amount of time. I thought it'd ease up but it's constant. There isn't enough water in the world to satisfy me and none of my other pregnant friends seem to be suffering with this

otter32 · 13/02/2015 12:25

I am with you on being thirsty! But it just means I pee more!

Had my 16 week midwife appointment this morning. I heard baby's heartbeat for the first time. Absolutely amazing. I cried! Still feel weepy now! It's strange that I didn't have that reaction when I had the scans!

Emb540 · 13/02/2015 12:48

You crazy lot and exercise!!
Mind I really don't have the time. Between working full time, 2 Dd's and trying to run my own business on the side fair to say don't have time.

I'm normally eat really heathy but it's all gone out of the window with my love of bagels and bacon. And I am not someone for fizzy drinks but it's all I want!!!

I've not bought anything yet either, I go to but then stop and think if I et it all now will have nothing to look forward too, as already feels like I've been pregnant for ever already ;0)

happygojo · 13/02/2015 13:59

When it comes to buying stuff, I have an amazon wish list but it is full of sensible stuff. My mum has bought loads already. I am a bit scared still I think.... almost that if I buy something that it will jinx it which is a horrible thought. Maybe i will feel better once I feel movement. I thought I felt something before but it isn't a definitely by any stretch of the imagination, especially with how ahem 'windy' I have been.

I did some yoga last night (just a dvd) and it was really good, I felt really refreshed afterwards. I was also feeling great today until the last hour and now I could sleep under my desk!
