Emb... Blankets are great, and a good way to individualise when you've got a black buggy!

Penguin, I'm the opposite: find crochet much more difficult than knitting! And several people have patiently taught me... Just can't get the hang of it.

Reely weird pee thing lily!

happygojo · 09/02/2015 18:20

penguin I think crochet is some kind of voodoo witchcraft. I CANNOT get my head around it at all.... Hook have been thrown

PenguinTuxedo · 09/02/2015 19:47

Haha, really?! I like that crocheting has one hook rather than two needles, and that it's not like...attached to the hook like it is on the needle, if that makes sense? So envious of you knitters though!!

LAM1 · 09/02/2015 21:28

The energy burst has not yet hit! Felt slightly better on return from holiday but after a couple of days back at work the shattered feeling returned. Today's helpful comments at work today included "You look tired / rough / drained" all before 9.15, I was not impressed! On that note, time to go to bed....

Augustwedding · 10/02/2015 07:41

I think the energy boost is a myth to get you through first trimester!

clairexxx · 10/02/2015 09:22

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I last posted as I wanted to make sure everything was ok. I didn't want to temp fate if that makes any sense. I'm 13 + 6 and had a 12 week scan and everything was okay. My baby was a wriggler and wouldn't stay still! My hospital charges £50 for gender scans and won't let you have them done until 22 weeks so I found a private clinic that charges £45 and I can have a scan at 16 weeks.

I had my booking appointment after my 12 week scan due to a mix up and had blood tests taken. I always feel anxious over blood test results as I have a neurological condition and have a b12 deficiency. Sounds daft that I worry I know! The midwife said I could call today for the results but when I phoned they wouldn't tell me. Just said I have to wait until the 16 week appointment and if anything was wrong I would have heard very quickly. I'm taking that means everything is okay. Things play on my mind at night!

I'm going to be under shared care due to my medical condition. I'm not high risk but just need to be looked after. I'm waiting to see a consultant. Good news though I should be able to have a water birth as it would good for my medical condition.

I'm a first time mum to be so any advice anyone can offer would greatly be appreciated Smile

I've read a few posts on knitting/crochet. I'm a huge crafter. I knit, crochet, sew etc. My husband gave me a beautiful knitting needle set for my birthday with some baby wool and 2 baby knitting books. I've made some booties and almost finished a little cardigan. I'm due 12 August so I'm making up warmer clothes aged 3-6 months as it should be cooler by then. Ive found some lovely baby sewing patterns too.

Hope everyone is well xx

Dani240 · 10/02/2015 09:35

I had my scan yesterday and everything was fine! It feels really official now, and I'm so excited!!

I love knitting and I've been able to do loads because I haven't really wanted to do anything apart from lie on the sofa! But having to do two of everything is a bit boring!

toothachereturns · 10/02/2015 19:00

Evening all! Scan today too and all well. 13 wks todayGrin
Due date changed to 18th Aug. SOOOOO relieved! Now to go crazy buying stuff. Wink

Hope you're all well. I'll read back now. x

dillydollydarling · 10/02/2015 19:30

So I think I joined this thread ages ago and haven't posted since!

Been suffering severely with hyperemesis. 11+3 today and already had 3 hospital admissions. On my third lot of medication now that seems to be working a lot better and now starting to feel human again.

Got my first scan on Monday. Super excited but also terrified! Had only been trying for our first baby for 6 weeks when I found out I was pregnant! Wasn't expecting it to happen that quickly!

LAM1 · 10/02/2015 21:23

More good scans, great news!

Exercise...Please tell me I'm not the only one doing nothing! Am normally so active but have done nowt for the past 11 weeks, am desperate to get back into it but still don't have the energy.

And what's the FB group? Had a quick scroll through but must have missed it.

Frolicacid · 10/02/2015 21:37

Good evening!!

Lovely to hear about all the scan's. Great pictures as well, especially the little twins!
I've got to wait another week. So frustrating!

I de finally seem to be getting over the hg. I haven't taken any meds for a few days and am managing to keep most stuff down. I even made a meal tonight! DH couldn't believe his eyes!

I hope everyone is doing ok. I have yet to feel the glow. I've also had the funny not weeing properly. And getting up to wee all night. Such fun!

Emb540 · 10/02/2015 22:07

Ahh see I've tried & tried to teach myself croquet but I just can not get my head around it! I've tried you tube videos nope just can not work it out!

I can't say I've found the glow yet, everyone comments how pale I look Hmm
Peeing omg I take a sip of water & I pee for wales straight after. It's a running joke in work how much I pee. They make a tally on me lol I am awful at the moment can't wait for it to ease. Xx

frankie50000 · 10/02/2015 22:11

Hi ladies. Haven't posted since finding out I was preggers! Didn't honestly think I'd get this far - now 13+5. Had 3 early scans due to bleeding but its stopped now Smile Constant sickness and heartburn (nothing to do with baby - ongoing problem for last 2 years and was too worried about taking my Omeprazole). Also getting the weekend headaches someone else mentioned. Been put under consultant care due to age/historical LLETZ procedure so will be having scans every 2 weeks!! Good they're keeping a close eye on me and will be lovely to get so many extra scans but feel like I will never be able to relax! Had low risk Downs screening (great considering at age 40 the risk starts off pretty high) but still driving myself crazy over whether to have an amnio. What did you decide Shantoto? I really feel for you.

All in all I feel like a basket case Wink Have given in and started back on the Omeprazole to try to get the heartburn under control - anyone else taking it? Worrying myself sick now I'll end up causing Pickle some kind of hideous deformity!

Only upside is the sickness/heartburn have put me off food so haven't put on any weight and no bump at all yet! Loving the bump/scan pictures you've all posted.

I never realised how lucky I was with with DC#1 - never had any of this (did put on 4.5 stone though Blush ).

Am going to make a concerted effort to keep up with this thread now Smile

karatekimmi · 11/02/2015 05:49

Love the twin scan pic

I'm still running and trying to keep active in between feeling like crap and throwing up!!! Although my Mum keeps asking if I'm sure it's okay to!!
The sickness seems to be easing but I now eat smaller meals more frequently and that has helped a lot!! Still waiting for the energy rush though.

Minikimmi has chicken pox so I'm having Thursday and friday off and then a weeks holiday, which means I can leave for my parents earlier on Friday and miss all the traffic! Every cloud has a silver lining!!

PenguinTuxedo · 11/02/2015 11:32

Sigh Just had a letter saying I'm NOT immune to Rubella/German measles. Just great considering I work in a school, isn't it? They won't vaccinate me now until I'm back on the maternity ward after labour. So I'm going to be worrying about this now for the next 5 1/2 months!! :(

Frankie I take Omeprazole. I take 40mg in the mornings. Have done for 18 months, and I asked about it when I got pregnant and they said it should be ok. Googling brought me to a zombie thread on here where someone had asked about it, and in America or somewhere they say it may not be safe, but that was cos of a study done on rats where they were given like 100% more or something of the dosage and it caused problems. So the general feeling was in reality on a proper dose, it should be fine, as the study was the other extreme. As nothing can be safley tested on pregnant woman, they can never be sure, if that makes sense? For me though, it's worth it because I'm in a lot of pain otherwise.

clairexxx · 11/02/2015 12:44

Penguin I'm sorry to hear that your not immune. I never realised that there would be so much to think/worry about during pregnancy.

I'm 14 weeks pregnant today. Really looking forward to the gender scan I have booked for 2 weeks time. My baby's legs were crossed at the 12 week scan and since then a few relatives told me that indicates a girl according to old wives tales.

I spoke to the midwife over the phone about my blood test results. Not everything is back yet but my iron levels are good and my urine sample was normal. She said I would have heard by now if any of the other test results were anything to worry about.

How is everyone feeling?

lottalouise · 11/02/2015 13:14

Hello all

14+6 today and feeling awful, sickness has not eased and I've now started feeling faint after eating (possibly low blood pressure).

Lovely to see all your pics and good news from scans. I've got my gender scan next week...desperate to know Smile

Lx

Guyropes · 11/02/2015 16:53

penguin I'm rubella susceptible too.. They told me that a lot of people are, but that the worst damage is done by catching it in the first trimester, so not to worry too much. I'm sure most of the kids you work with will have had their mmr, enough to create some herd immunity anyhow.

Got a job interview next week... Going to need to dress very cleverly!!!

OP posts:
Lilydreams · 11/02/2015 16:58

Clairexxx im 14 weeks today too!

LAM1 I haven't done a shred of exercise since about 5 weeks (wih the exception of a weeks skiing at 9 weeks!) as I've felt so rough all the time! Even when I do have moments of not feeling sick I think about what I've eaten/ kept down that day and just think there's no way I can fuel any exercise off it!

Usually really active too running a few times a week and going to pole classes/ training at home and doing weights so my arms especially feel like mush! Usually have quite defined arms/ shoulders from pole and it's making me sad! Can't wait to get my pole back up after baby's born although I dread to think how weak I'll be! Once I'm feeling up to it I'm gonna start aquanatal and lane swimming I think but God knows when that will be!

PenguinTuxedo · 11/02/2015 17:22

That's a bit reassuring, thanks guyropes. I just worry because you don't always get a rash with it, it says about swollen glands etc and cos I have M.E mine are nearly always swollen, so I'm worried I may have caught it without even knowing. Oh well, nothing I can really do about it!!

Jealous of all these gender scans, how exciting!! We can't afford one arm, but next Thursday we are seeing a foetal consultant. We suspect they may do a scan then, so if everything is ok with the baby, maybe they'll sneakily tell us the gender then Wink

LAM1 · 11/02/2015 20:00

Well I went for a slow steady 5k Lily and although I was dreading it, felt fine. Couldn't push it at all but its better than nothing. Need to invest in a new bigger shock absorber though! I too am sad that the definition has gone, it will return one day...

otter32 · 11/02/2015 21:45

Glad to see everyone is doing well. Hugs to the sicky people. Hopefully it will stop soon. I'm still waiting for my glow!

I've started introducing the exercise again. It's been hard work as I keep having migraines. I will get this under control!

I thought I felt first movements on Monday in the form of a fizzy bubble type feeling. But I haven't felt anything since so I think I must have been imagining it!

Guyropes · 11/02/2015 21:50

penguin yes, it doesn't always get diagnosed, does it? I think I remember the midwife also saying that the pickup for the immunity is not 100% either, so it can cause unnecessary worry for people who have actually got some immunity , and that they were considering stopping rubella susceptibility as a standard screen. I think they wouldn't be considering that if there was much of an infection rate.

Shantotto, so sorry about your results, hope you are doing ok in this time of difficult decisions. Flowers

PenguinTuxedo · 11/02/2015 22:07

That's the thing guyropes, I'm worried students could have had it and not been taken to Drs and diagnosed, as it may have come across as just a cold.
Can't change it now tho!

Otter - some girls on the fb group have been feeling the same thing you describe, so you never know! X
