Joskar I'm hoping you're right, but since I've not got loads of folk around me who've just had babies I'm thinking we'll have to get quite a bit of it. I'm all for searching out a deal though!

For those other first time mums, have any of you started getting bits yet?

Augustwedding · 07/02/2015 12:20

We got the pram because it was a great offer. Picked a a baby bath for 50p at nct sale and sone neutral clothes. Getting rest after 20 weeks scan!

mzzzf · 07/02/2015 12:24

Ooooooh good plan with the NCT sales - going to google when/where the next one is!

Lilydreams · 07/02/2015 13:43

Joskar I second not needing to spend a fortune! eBay is my favourite past time at the moment- it's bargain city! Mzzzf- first timer here and have started getting 'bits'- I say bits but more than that really as once I started looking things were too good to miss! So far have:

Microwave steriliser £10 tesco baby event
£60 in aldi baby event on 10 tommee tipped bottles, 4 cellular blankets, 4 dummy's, 24 packs of wipes, 4 packs of nappy bags, 4 tubs sudacrem (I love this stuff anyway) and various other bits
Gro egg room thermometer £6 eBay- mint condition
Mamas and papas pram/pushchair £50 eBay hardly used as the lady didn't find it practical to use on the tube- not a scratch on it, wheels not marked and best bit is that there is a footling brand new in the packaging with tags on- price alone being £50!
Going to pick up Cotbed tonight £160 off eBay- pristine condition- mamas and papas ocean still in store for £860
Loads of friends and family have already said they have stuff for us too! I'm over the moon as thought it would cost a fortune and we're hoping to move house before/ around the time baby arrives!

Frolicacid · 07/02/2015 14:17

Hello! I hope everyone is having a good weekend?

I survived two days at work. The vomitting has calmed down loads. It's such an improvement that I'm almost worried. My boobs are on fire, so I'm hopeful everything is still on track.
I can't tell you how good it's been to eat some proper food. I've had vegetables for the first time in weeks. We were beginning to worry the baby would be a crisp!

We've not bought any baby stuff yet. Our plan is to start after the scan on the 18th. Then we'll get organised as soon as we can so that we can have a holiday if we have any money left at the end!

I have bought loads of summer maternity clothes from e-bay while I've been off. I've not paid more than a £5 for anything and have got a few nice dresses, some tops and a couple of pairs of trousers. I'm finding my jeans a bit tight now so will dig out the ones I got in the next January sale.

I'm just off to see my darling old grandmother at the hospital. She has been ill for a few months but took a turn for the worst last night. It may be the last time we see her so we've decided to tell her about the baby if she's awake. I'm already an emotional wreck.

Emb540 · 07/02/2015 15:05

I am looking forward to a summer baby this time the other 2 being winter. Heavily pregnant in winter I found hard to find coats & jumpers to fit. Had to but load maternity which isn't cheap is it. But this time around just long tshirts / vest tops & leggings, maxi dresses I am living in this year!! Smile
I am gutted I never bought my pushchair whilst in offer now!! Would have saved £200 ahhhh doesn't look like it will be back on either! Kicking myself!
Hope you're all doing ok xx

Emb540 · 07/02/2015 15:06

Frolic I am sorry to hear hep she's ok xxxx

Skeppers · 07/02/2015 17:49

mzzzf bought nowt yet. Partly because I don't have the foggiest where to start, partly because we're broke and need to start saving, and partly because we want to move out of our shitty rented digs into some slightly less shitty rented digs so don't want to heft a load of baby stuff with us! Also, it doesn't all feel quite real yet...Grin

Bunnychan · 07/02/2015 20:54

Hi ladies,
I came in ages ago, said hi then I've not been back. I've had my scan now and feel brave enough to stick around now lol! I'm due 19th Aug and I'm already showing big time :-s (#2).

birchwoods · 08/02/2015 11:03

I've bought a couple of baby grows and my lovely mother-in-law has given us a couple of lined white wicker baskets with baby bath, wipes, nappy bags etc...in and some vests and baby grows and my mum has bought some gorgeous vests and muslins. I've also bought an alphabet print for the nursery. Haven't bought any big stuff though, I think we'll wait until after the 20 wk scan for that (although I have got my eye on s couple of rocking chairs on eBay!). I'm just picking up the odd bargain on eBay at the moment (ie. Jojo and White Company baby grows for a fraction of the price, barely worn!). We're not going to find out the sex so won't really be buying any clothes beyond newborn/up to one month anyway. I love buying little bits and pieces, crazy to think we will have a tiny person to put in them in six months!

em165 · 08/02/2015 11:10

Haven't been on here for a while, need to catch up!
We bought a few things after our 12 weeks scan (a babygrow and a cuddly rabbit). I could buy lots more but am trying to restrain myself a bit.
Is anyone else suffering from headaches? I've had the same headache since Wednesday and its starting to drive me mad!

sianihedgehog · 08/02/2015 12:44

em165 yep, I've got terrible headaches and exhaustion. Went out to a birthday party yesterday and pushed myself to stay until 1:30am and now feel like I have the worst hangover ever, despite not drinking at all!

cattyf · 08/02/2015 15:03

We have purchased a teddy bear and one babygrow. Seen lots of lovely things but trying to resist for a while longer!! Occupying myself with doing the nursery as we had already started on refurbishing it as a spare room, just different choice of fabrics and wallpaper now!

ChanceBeAFineThing · 08/02/2015 15:09

happygojo · 08/02/2015 15:26

I had awful headaches between 8-13.5 weeks. I get migraines anyway. The last one o had was nowhere near as bad, I dunno if it is because of 2nd trimester or whether because I have given in and started taking pregnancy vits as I suspect I was deficient in something. I hope they continue to get better!

otter32 · 08/02/2015 16:27

I'm suffering with headaches too. I'm just trying to drink more and rest as paracetamol doesn't touch them. I too get migraines, but luckily only had one so far.

Cold flannel on the head and a dark, quiet room works a treat!

Lilydreams · 08/02/2015 17:47

Oh headaches!! I thought it was just me! Had a few constant headaches/ going to bed at night with one and waking up in the morning with it still there! And also a couple migraines- paracetamol and several hours sleep bring the only way to shift them- pretty frustrating when I don't have bags of time to be in bed extra!!

Picked up Cotbed last night- it's pristine!! £700 saved off shop price! So chuffed!!

Augustwedding · 08/02/2015 19:45

£700 off! Bloody hell hate to think how much was new! Well done!

Guyropes · 08/02/2015 20:03

Headache sufferers: I had abysmal headaches in my first pg, and found restarting folic acid made them go away! I was getting a few headaches again this time, but have started on aspirin, and back on folic acid (just 1 pill) per day and touch wood, no more headaches. Might be worth a try?

Shopping: I know we will get given a lot of hand-me down stuff, this baba has a 4 yr old cousin who isn't getting any siblings, so we'll probably get some bits and pieces from them. I don't really mind not picking, as we can make it ours by adding a homemade cot bumper or something like that.

I've got some knitting planned! And several knitting promises, from relations too. Is anyone else planning any knitting?

It is nice to get a few special things just for the new baby though, so I'm trying to organise a little shopping trip with oh, but not had time yet.

Hi all. I posted a while back and haven't got round to updating!

Exciting to see everyone's scan pics!

Had my scan, all good but moved my date from 4th Aug to 29th July. I've started a new job this week and am on my feet all day so I'm putting the crippling exhaustion down to that. Has anyone had that burst of energy all the books say the 2nd trimester is supposed to bring??

happygojo · 09/02/2015 06:41

guyropes I am planning to knit, my MIL is a crocheter. I haven't touched any knitting since before Christmas I find I just don't have the concentration at the moment in those few hours between work and sleep.
choco I had the burst of energy yesterday, lasted about 3 hours and then I came home and collapsed on the sofa!

Emb540 · 09/02/2015 07:51

guyropes I knit I've started my own knitting business. I want to make pram & cot blankets. Not into knitting clothes mind but may give it a go Smile

sianihedgehog · 09/02/2015 15:36

Anyone else up all night having to pee? I am literally getting no more than an hour of sleep at a stretch because I wake up needing to pee all the time. :(

Lilydreams · 09/02/2015 17:36

Not up all night for a pee sianihedgehog but had the weirdest experience this morning- woke up bursting about 20 mins before my alarm went to the loo and couldn't pee!! TMI but I had to push really hard and then kept stopping and having to push again! So bizarre- no pain or anything uti feeling and when I googled it apparantly it happens around this time as baby is lying on tube or something and as you get bigger baby moves higher off tube! Strange!

PenguinTuxedo · 09/02/2015 17:44

I wish I could knit, but I find it too difficult! I am a crocheter though, I love it. I have a fb page but it's all taken a bit of a back seat at the moment because I'm so exhausted!
Our baby will have lots of crocheted blankets, hats etc :) Maybe a cardigan or two, but I draw the line at trousers etc :P
