Just had our 12w scan so will finally add myself to the list. Baby measured bang on dates and was very very wriggly, will post pics when I have them uploaded to my computer.

Hi ladies, very happy for everyone getting their exciting wriggly baby scans. Very sad news here, had scan this morning and not good news, in fact the worst. Turns out I'm having a MC, looks like the baby passed around 6 weeks but no clue until spotting started last night. Hunkering down awaiting (completely-pointless-im-my-opinion) follow up scan in a week then the really horrible part to follow I suppose. Perhaps the lack of morning sickness should've been a red flag.

Oh cherry how heartbreaking. Please get over to the miscarriage board and find the thread about practical tips for coping, because when it happened to me I wasn't really prepared for what comes next.

Look after yourself and do what you can to get through the next days and weeks

Tough day today - broke down at work and came home. After the scan last week and them telling me there were no indicators for downs, I kind of forgot about my blood test. Got a call today to say I was at high risk, with a 1:121 chance the baby could have downs.

I'm going to hospital tomorrow to talk to a midwife and consultant about having and amnio test, midwife said I didn't have to have it, I could walk away after talking about. I'll be 14+4 tomorrow and didn't think they could so it til 15 so maybe I'll just have the talk. At Homerton they said the miscarriage risk is 0.5% rather than the more often stated 1%, and DP found more modern research that said the miscarriage increase from an amnio is statistically insignificant. It's all so confusing.

I'm much calmer now which is good but I'm sure I'll cry tomorrow! We're thinking of stumping up the cash for a harmony test, that's 99% accurate and if it comes back with low risk it's more like a 1:10000 chance.

I'm just so drained with all the worry and upset. :(

shantotto I don't know what to advise I'm sorry except for sending u a hug. I don't really know what the risks mean.

Beagles.....that made me laugh out loud. I don't think bagels are all that bad for u though if you're not eating too many. I saw an advert for malt loaf and suddenly started craving it so I've been to get some on my way home from work lol.

Hope everyone else's scans have gone ok. it's funny how u feel so relieved after the first scan but then after a few days the fear and worry starts creeping back in again. Maybe it never really goes away until baby is born and then u get a whole new type of worry. I think having a bump and feeling the baby move maybe helps a little. Can't wait till I start looking pregnant. I just feel completely normal now.

Shanttotto if the scan was clear and it's the bloods I wouldn't worry. I know 2 people.... Had tests very low risk and both had downs babies.
And then another friend came back 1:50 and had a normal baby hope all goes well xx

My scan went well, measured a week ahead so new EDD of 10th August. So relieved!

Got my scan booked for 16th Feb. Meant to be 10 weeks today but started feeling flutters the past couple of days so now concerned I may be further along than thought!! Guess I'll have to wait until the scan to find out. Less than 2 weeks now!

Cherry I'm so sorry to hear this, such a sad thing to happen. I second what pp have said about looking around on the boards for support, and I have also heard that the miscarriage association is helpful too. Please be kind to yourself, and just take each minute as it comes.

Shanttotto I'm sorry to hear about your worries too. I think you're doing the sensible thing, not rushing into anything, just going to get advice first of all. If it helps, everyone I have spoken to who's had the test (including midwife) - none of them ended up miscarrying as a result. I think it's very low risk, and if not knowing will stop you from enjoying the pregnancy, then that's something to consider too.

I am another worrier, like some of you have mentioned. I was okay for about 2 days after the scan, but I'm a nervous wreck again, especially after my near car crash yesterday morning. My Angelsound thingy came today, and we've just heard the baby's heartbeat - it was amazing, and such a reassurance :)

Hi everyone! Sorry haven't posted in so long! 10 weeks today had a scan a week ago who put my back a few days so due date is now sept 1st tech not August but 12 week scan on the 20th! So we shall see :) everyhing looked fab on scan lovely wriggly little baby :) symptoms finally easing this week!

I had better go catch up with everything hope everyone is well xx

Shanttotto I think the shock of hearing results like that is because they call it high risk, but with your results the odds of baby having Downs is less than 1%, please try not to worry too much (impossible I know).

shantotto talking to a midwife will do no harm as others have said. And remember just because you are classed as high risk it is still a low chance, similarly just because anyone is classed as low risk does not mean they won't have a baby with downs. Probably just a huge shock to you at the minute, you will have plenty of time to think about further testing etc

Hope you all are well (as can be!). I'm 11+1 now, still no sickness heard a hb at 7 weeks so hoping everything is ok in there! Been mega tired and had some killer headaches, and boob tenderness is easing a little now. This scan can't come quickly enough (13th). I'm sure everything will be ok but can't stop fearing the worst but i can see im not alone. Congrats to all those who have had your scans and seen your wriggly little babies xxx
