Ahh good, not just me then lol aberjan ;)

Chookford · 21/01/2015 16:51

leanne me too they have been driving me insane on and off throughout the whole pregnancy! I used my desk as a scratching post on one occasion! Grin

leanne963 · 21/01/2015 17:08

Hahaha chook What is this?! Is this because the milk is preparing to come through?! The itching has made me realise how sensitive my nipples actually are, i think i am being a bit naive about how much BF is going to hurt lol!

Chookford · 21/01/2015 17:13

I didn't have it with my dd... This time my skin is really dry so guessing that's causing it?! I breastfed my for 7weeks then had to stop as she was so hungry all the time and I was struggling with the pain going to formula we were both much happier but I will be trying again this time and see how I get on... Hopefully the insane itching will subside straight after birth! Smile

plinkyplonks · 21/01/2015 17:14

Afternoon all - no itchy boobs here (yet!)!

Quick question about Gaviscon - has anyone had any issues getting a prescription for it? My doctor has prescribed me a bottle but apparently future bottles I need to pay for myself over the counter?! Doesn't seem fair considering it sounds like lots of people get prescribed it free under the NHS :(

FeelingBlessed77 · 21/01/2015 18:19

pinky - no I don't see how that's right. We are all entitled to free prescriptions.

kittiker · 21/01/2015 18:28

plinkyplonk, I got a giant bottle for free from the pharmacist last time - well, my husband went in and got it for me. He explained I was pregnant and only needed to give my name to get it, no GP prescription needed. It was a generic one though not Galviscon but it works fine.

Turquoisetamborine · 21/01/2015 19:20

Leanne a tip for you if you have sensitive nipples and want to breastfeed. Get some Lansinoh ready. It's a miracle worker. Mine absolutely killed but Lansinoh got me through it and I fed DS for 11 months with no pain.

My 24 week scan went great today. They were checking the blood flow from the placenta and also checked the length of my cervix as it can be a worry of having a unicornate uterus that I could go into premature labour.
It was all fine. The consultant said she couldn't be happier with all my results and the baby's size was right on track too.
Back in 4 weeks for another one.

KittyVonCatsington · 21/01/2015 19:52

Hi gingerfluff! Whereabouts in Australia are you? Congratulations on your lovely baby boy bump Grin

I don't have itchy nipples Leanne but I still have a really itchy bump! Can't leave it alone! Smile

piglet - quick question!! I've been looking up NCT classes and our ones in Lewisham have three sessions scheduled for during the day and really, I can't take that much time off work considering I'm also having lots of extra consultant appointments (don't want to take the piss!) Are you signing up to this group?

Only one of my nipples is itchy and much more sensitive than the other. Confused also think I'm naively forgetting how painful BFing is as it's been so long since I last did it.
I am however having awful heartburn already and the most terrible indigestion :( was in terrible pain with it a couple of nights ago, like actual take your breath away pain. Not good, and has now started the giving birth anxiety eeeek! Too late to worry about that now I guess haha!

Glad everyone's scans and tests seem to be going well :) and welcome to all the new ladies :) I should probably show face in the June thread too as both my previous pregnancies went late, the last one being overdue by ten days!
Next mw appointment for me is on Friday, I'll be 22+6 I think :/ how quickly the time is going! Am going to find out if there are any aqua natal type classes nearby in the evenings. Anyone else going to classes other than antenatal ones?

Also for all of you who have found out the baby's sex, did you do a retrospective old wives tale check to see how many matched up? Haha! Mixed results from mines: bump is wide, skin is rubbish, leg hair growing slower, urine dull yellow and craving sweet things: all points towards girl but my bump is also low and there was something else which I've now forgotten which suggests boy. The Chinese chart thing said both boy and girl depending on if they used my actual age or adjusted it to be the Chinese age haha! Haven't done the wedding ring one yet though.

leanne963 · 21/01/2015 20:39

Turquoise oooh i have seen Lansinoh mentioned before so i will def give it a try! I am thinking about doing BF and formula so she can get more milk from the formula during the night and therefor have better sleep....or i am simplifying things and it isnt that easy?! Also so glad your scan went welll :D

Kitty I am scared i am gonna scratch to hard and rip my nip off ha!

Aw Tori that sounds amazing!! :D

Ginger Yea, just my right nipple is itching, left one seems fine lol! Regarding the sex, i just 'knew' i was having a girl, and the chinese prediction chart said the same thing, i completely lost my looks - look like death and terrible skin, bump is quite low (not sure what that indicates) and i am having a girl! :)

KittyVonCatsington · 21/01/2015 20:42

Sounds lovely Tori! DH and I are going to Yorkshire last week in July for his cricket tour and staying in a holiday cottage. Like you, hope it will be ok with a 2 month old!

I'm doing weekly Pilates ginger and love it!

piglet81 · 21/01/2015 20:44

Hi Kitty, we decided to go for the Essentials course which runs on Monday evenings starting 23 Feb, if memory serves. Daytime classes must be tricky for lots of people. Would be funny if we ended up on the sane course!

Blondie87 · 21/01/2015 20:50

Yes! Itchy boobs all over!

longestlurkerever · 21/01/2015 20:52

Leanne it may be that easy but dd just wouldn't take a bottle the menace, and you might need to express if your boobs get too full. They adjust to demand after a while though. Bfing is painful at first but if it carries on being painful there's probably an issue with tongue tie that should be investigated (sometimes easier said than done as they're apparently hard to diagnose).

Ooh, what is a snug exactly? Dh also a bit wimpy when it comes to camping but I know dd would love it!

Ginger I have had two dd pregnancies but they have been quite different. I had more sickness and less good hair with this one!

KittyVonCatsington · 21/01/2015 20:59

Oh, didn't know about Essentials-just the regular ones, thanks piglet!

Thanks longest i have all these ideas of what i want to do, but i don't know how to do them and i don't know whether what i plan to do will even work! lol

longestlurkerever · 21/01/2015 21:26

leanne the best plan imo is to have an idea of what you want but be prepared to be flexible. No point beating yourself up about things that don't go quite to plan.

You're allowed time off work to attend classes by law but I dunno if that goes for partners too.

Thanks tori. Will take a look when not on my phone. Currently trying to decide if taking dd camping before baby arrives would be too chilly. I have my more hardcore dsis on standby to take her if I can't this year though.

applecore0317 · 21/01/2015 21:27

Welcome ginger I hadn't thought about the June thread, am due May 27th so would also be June if I went over, don't think I could keep up with two threads though lol

leanne itchy nipples here too, have bought that cream already as heard its good for when breastfeeding

Had my internal scan today, cervix length is fine but got.to go back next week for another internal scan and fluid check then fortnightly after that

Also bought our travel system, got it in the Mothercare sale, half price down to 175 so am pretty pleased with that.

Kyz · 21/01/2015 21:36

Evening all :)

I know just what you mean shiny it's always nice to know you're not alone :)

24 weeks already Aberjen woohoo!

sounds like you're very organised tits!

ginger congrats and welcome :)

leanne yes re: itchy nipples - on and off thankfully not constant, though the other day they were driving me batty!

that's fab turquoise!

no heartburn here yet thankfully! I bet i've jinxed it now lol

Gingergeek · 21/01/2015 21:59

I really "feel" like this is a girl Leanne but it doesn't really feel like either of my other two pregnancies either! I have one of each already! "Knew" last one was a boy as it was so different to my first pregnancy. All three pregnancies have been yellow bumps til delivery day.
Still kind of wishing I'd just found out the sex now but too late I guess haha!
And weirdly it's my right nipple that's itchy.

Is this pregnancy a boy longest? Struggling to keep up since I first posted a few weeks back. Sorry! So yes apple following two threads may actually just be too much to ask haha!

Had you done Pilates before kitty? I have been to yoga classes before but the other participants were all clearly much more focused than I was so it put me off a little. Don't know if pregnancy yoga/Pilates would be the same.

Mslad · 21/01/2015 22:00

Itchy bump for me, but nip's are ok so far Smile

gingergeek my midwife predicted a girl based on old wives tales: higher heart rate, sweeter tooth, wide bump, less leg hair growth and bad skin and she was right!

Gingergeek · 21/01/2015 22:05

mslad that was my other boy one! Heart rate was below 140bpm and sounded like a train.
Can not for the life of me remember what DD and DS' rates were and if they "fit".
