Evening Maysters! So much to catch up on!

Fluff-so so sorry you are getting such unbroken sleep. I am getting lots of kicks at night but mostly seem to not stir too much and go back to sleep. Sound like you have a livewire there!

I too think Rueben has a lovely ring to it Blondie-definitely add it to your list!

d0tt-what kinds of questions were you asking your MW? Am wondering if I am asking the right questions.

I've felt that kind of wave before apple -kind of like the whole little body is shifting. Love feeling her!

Thanks for the Next tip plinky!

Hi catsofa! Definitely lurk over here so you have company in the final weeks. I'm due 3rd May so close to you Smile

shiny I hear what you are saying. We tried for this baby for just over a year from start to finish and yet there are still times when I feel 'rabbit caught in headlights' and wonder what the fuck we've done?!?! The rational part of me says it is natural!

Good luck for the scan turquoise!

Chookford · 20/01/2015 20:46

royal thanks, I thought it had to be in by 25wks so I will 25+1 when I hand it in if I wait until I see the midwife... I have tried to contact her to see if I can get it sooner but she is difficult to contact! Hmm

Fluffeh · 20/01/2015 20:51

Thanks ladies for the sympathy. I was just being a grumpy arse haha. When I think of how lucky I am to be pregnant and to already have a healthy happy dd I really can't grumble.

How's everyone's baby clothes shopping going? Ours is abismal. I have 2 sleep suits in size newborn that we bought and like. 3 huge bin bags of donated boys clothes that I hate but have no idea what to do with them. They aren't my style as most are outfits and i prefer sleep suits for the first 6ish months. I'm going to have to store them until he's officially outgrown them aren't i?
I have found a few things I like in next (albeit the girls section) a couple of cherry print sleep suits and a pack of bumble bee ones. They have bows/ribbons on but I'll just snip them off :).

Hi Everyone,

Had a good midwife meeting today and got my MatB1 form chook and I'm 24 + 2. Good tip was to photocopy it (so DH can take to his work too for paternity leave) but I'll get it handed into work shortly.

Kitty - I wanted to ask exciting questions about breast pumps, whether a tour of the maternity wing would be planned or recommended and what I should do about the nasty cramp I wake up with in my legs! I just know the last time I was there I just seemed a bit lost for questions like at the end of an interview!

Fluff - I have really reigned in the baby shopping. I've also been offered a load of boys stuff but I'm not crazy about many of those outfits. Although figuring it won't really matter too much if they need to wear an old babygro or something through the night.... However, I'm team yellow so was really surprised at how challenging it was to find anything in between - though I've picked up a couple of red baby joggers and a little navy and white striped pair of dungarees over the last couple of weeks.

If I'm a bit more sensible rather than all sentimental, the reality is we don't have that much space and I'm thinking that any friends or family will probably want to treat us to clothes at first rather than buying duller stuff like nappies, wet wipes, muslin squares or thermometers! Yawn! So for now, I'm trying to find my ideal changing mat (!!) then some nice coloured accessories that can go with that. Oh dear, I sound so boring and sensible!

plinkyplonks · 20/01/2015 21:08

catsofa - Welcome :) My due date is shifting between April 28th-30th :P I think there are a few of us with late April EDDs - it's always nice to have some more company!

royal - YES, YES, YES to all the RAGE :D It happens in waves, especially after eating sugary food so I'm trying to cut down on bad stuff.

MATB1 form I received at my 25 week appointment with the midwife. I've got a GTT test next week :( Followed my another midwife appointment at week 28 and every 2-3 weeks after! It's all going fast now!

I signed up for my local NCT course as this is our first baby. Quite a few people on FB said courses weren't worth it and the NHS ones were just as good. We decided to go ahead in the hope we might meet some nice people locally.

Pram wise I bought a Bugaboo Bee3, Cabriofix car seat, I also got given a buggy which I'll use as a spare. I still need to get a new mattress for the 2nd hand cot I have, as well as thinking of getting this (think someone further up the thread recommended this set, so thank you very much x ):

www.mothercare.com/Tommee-Tippee-Closer-to-Nature-Essentials-Sterilisation-Set/410658,default,pd.html#q=closer%20to%20nature

If you sign up to My Mothercare you can get a £10 off a £100 spend voucher www.mothercare.com/my-mothercare/my-mothercare,default,pg.html so I need to work out what to spent £35 more on! Time to go rummaging around the last of the sales online :D

I've booked a 3D scan for 2 weeks time when I'll be 28 weeks. It's all seeming to go really fast at the mo. Can't believe it's nearly February already!

KittyVonCatsington Thanks for the heads up about JoJo Maman Bebe tankini - I bought the blue stripe one from there as well as the all black swimsuit (think it was this one):

www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+swimsuit-in-maternity-swimwear+D5028

Think there is a Mumsnet discount code for the store as well: www.mumsnet.com/partner-offers/jojo-maman-bebe-discount

Fits really well compared to the Mamas and Papas one I bought in the sale.

Fluffeh I bought most my baby clothes in the sale from Asda, Next outlet, Mamas and Papas (I think they are doing 25% off sale prices on clothing at the mo) & Mothercare. Bought some items online as well to try and Quidco cashback it :)

KittyVonCatsington · 20/01/2015 21:13

chookford I got my MATB1 on my "24 week"appointment (was 23 weeks though) with the MW

KittyVonCatsington · 20/01/2015 21:18

That's the tankini I got plinky, yes!
I rather like it Grin

Kyz · 20/01/2015 21:54

Evening all!

tori I think I would find that less than relaxing too :/

fluffeh I am not woken up by baby yet but if he's awake and kicking about he can be active enough for me to struggle to get to/get back to sleep

I think Reuben is a lovely name blondie, I really like it!

thanks for the tip D0tty

shiny the past few days i've been feeling quite panicky about the whole thing, I'm worried i'll struggle with DS when heavily pregnant, as i'm finding things are getting difficult now, and the thought of giving birth again is making me get quite stressy! I know it's going to have to happen but still! I think it's because i'm past the halfway point now so it all seems more real. I think it's normal to feel a bit overwhelmed sometimes - or I hope it is!

hi Cats and welcome

i've had the rage tonight royalsteph I get it in fits and bursts at the minute it seems!

I've still barely bought anything. Am feeling really disorganised and panicky. I haven't even written a list! Argh!

shinyhappyone · 20/01/2015 21:58

We went and signed up for nct classes for the same reasons plinky. Hoping we'll get something from it as well as getting to know people xx

shinyhappyone · 20/01/2015 22:01

Don't mean I want you to feel overwhelmed kyz, but am pleased that others are feeling it too!
Thanks you lovely may lot, feeling much more normal after hearing from you guys today!! Smile

We have them. Loved them and you save a fortune. The microfibres ones dry really quickly and are fabulously fluffy to touch!

chook I just text my midwife to tell her that I needed it asap. Work were asking for it and I had to hand it in before 24 weeks, and my next appointment is at 25 weeks, so she filled it in and left it at reception for me to collect

Hi catsofa :)

plinky I signed up for them for that reason too plus our NHS ones are during the day, whereas the NCT ones are in the evenings which suits us better

Off to our local Mamas and Papas closing down sale tomorrow in search of a buggy, if no luck have seen one in the mothercare sale and will order it tomorrow

piglet81 · 21/01/2015 07:42

Hi everyone. Busy thread yesterday! Had my boss's retirement party last night, which was lovely but I was knackered by 9pm and had such tired feet! Have a day off today so going to take it easy and maybe do some lists of baby purchases we need to think about. Am wondering about reusable nappies too, although tbh I imagine we'd end up using disposables out and about as it seems a bit of a faff, but I haven't really looked into it properly so perhaps I'm being unfair.

After this week I've only got 12 more weeks at work, yippee! (I do actually enjoy my job, but I'm ready for a change...)

aberjen · 21/01/2015 08:49

Morning!

Welcome catsofa Smile

On reusable nappies, I haven't used them but know someone who does and absolutely loves them (and is a bit addicted to buying them - don't blame her, they are so pretty!). I think she mainly uses Tots Bots. She also recommended the Blueberry wrappers to prevent leaks (we were debating using a wrapper over DD's disposables at night as she went through a period of leaking almost every night, but that seems to have passed for now). I think once you get into a routine it's actually quite straightforward, but I must admit I couldn't face the extra loads of laundry, esp. as we have a combi washer/dryer and the dryer part is rubbish. Not such in issue in summer though.

Saw my midwife on Friday to pick up my MATB1 - was at the children's centre, so her clinic was mostly parents bringing their newborns, and also the baby cafe breastfeeding clinic was on - babies babies everywhere! I'd forgotten just how tiny newborns are, so cute! (Although have to admit, it also reminded me how boring the first few months can be before the babies start sleeping better and also become more interactive). I went to the baby cafe a few times with DD and the woman who runs it remembered me and came over for a chat, so that was really lovely. I was quite touched she remembered me as it's probably well over a year since I last went to the centre.

Oh and am 24 weeks today Shock Time is flying! I only have 10 weeks left at work, am stopping at Easter ShockShock

longestlurkerever · 21/01/2015 08:56

Tori I used bumgenius with dd. I thought they were great, though as she got bigger I needed to stuff a couple of inserts in to get through the night. They were expensive but still cheaper than disposables - esp as I still have them to use with dd2. Check also if your Council does a voucher towards them - I got £50 from mine. The good thing about the bumgenius ones is they are some sort of techno-fabric that is very absorbent but dries really quickly - a couple of hours on the line or overnight on a clothes horse and they're dry. I tried another brand called tots bots and didn't get on with them so well, but haven't heard the ones you mentioned and they do sound a lot cheaper.

I didn't find the mess bad once I'd got into a routine with the washing. You can use the liners which enables you to tip most of it down the loo, then you put the rest into a mesh bag in a nappy bin. When it's time to wash them you just lift the whole bag out of the bin and stick it into the washing machine. There's no scrubbing or soaking to be done. Only thing is if they need changing out and about then you have to put the dirty one into a drawstring bag to take home with you but meh, you get used to much mankier stuff with children! Most nurseries are OK with using them too.

Titsalinabumsquash · 21/01/2015 09:49

Good morning ladies and babies Smile

I'm having a day off today! Shock

No housework, no work, no nothing except a big bowl of porridge and a coffee.

We have the cot now, the pushchair and everything else except the car seat, I'm trying to source a car seat adapter for the pushchair so I can get a maxicosi and click it on and off the pushchair.
Midwife Friday for me and I have to go to the hospital at some point for antiD apparently they can't give it at the Drs surgery anymore Hmm.
Still no names, I'm officially giving up until she's here I think.

I had a few much quieter days with movements but now she's back to going nuts several times a day, I much prefer this way than the former. Smile

I hope everyone is well. x

Marking my place as I'm due May 5th and keen to join the thread! Unless I'm in the wrong place... app won't let me scroll all the way to the end to check, doh. Team blue Smile

gingerfluffball · 21/01/2015 10:09

Okay, got the hang of it (slow learner) Confused coffee and porridge sounds lovely. Haven't posted on here before as fairly new to mumsnet so should say hi: I'm a FTM and a Brit in Australia with none of my friends pregnant so am enjoying reading all peoples experiences here!

So my random question which I've found weird lately; anyone else feel uncomfortable in their bump when lying down and look down to find it's all gone a weird lopsided shape? I have to move to shift bubs, he seems to love getting into bizarre positions, can't imagine how it can be comfortable for him.

In other news I'm getting through litres of Gaviscon with terrible heartburn. Anyone know if coconut water is any good so I can cut down a bit? Imagining bubs's amniotic fluid just tastes of peppermint Gaviscon!

Chookford · 21/01/2015 11:15

Morning ladies

Thanks for the info on the MatB1 forms I have txt my midwife this morning but god knows if she will answer me or not!

ginger congrats and welcome.. another little boy, these boys are really dominant on this and the June thread! Grin I am not suffering with heartburn thankfully, but know a few ladies on here are so sure they will give you some good advice on easing it. I have the weird shape bump when I lie down though, baby moves from one side to the other and I usually get a bum pushing against one side, so cute!!

leanne963 · 21/01/2015 11:23

Welcome ginger :) if I lie on my left the right side of my bump feels stretched so I have had to start putting a pillow underneath to lift the pressure off!

leanne963 · 21/01/2015 12:40

Also, anyone gettng really itchy nipples!? My right nipples is so itchy but it's not really an area you can get a proper scratch iyswim. It might just be an irritation but just seeing if anyone else has it?! Ha

aberjen · 21/01/2015 14:46

leanne I've had this!! Not so much recently, but have certainly had it in this pregnancy. Particularly fun at work when, as you say, you can't have a good scratch!! (I have given up absolutely all semblance of ladylike behaviour at home Grin)

aberjen · 21/01/2015 14:47

And welcome ginger Smile
