Bean, I find the toddler stage much easier! It was the constant bf that I found hard. But it probably depends on the individual child - will be interesting to see the difference with this one!

Justyou, with my last pregnancy I had an anterior placenta and there was no pattern at all - I felt less that 10 movements a day (CTK say 4-100 an hour!). I know it's not advised but I used a Doppler to reassure myself as according to the guidelines I would have to go and get checked out every single day which obviously wouldn't have been possible! I understand why they aren't recommended (although our midwife was fine with it) but it would have been that or not even know if baby was alive.

Ginger, we're very lucky as someone is paying for it! We'll sell our strawberry when we get it. It's a double pushchair plus carrycot which increases the price. Plus even adding one footmuff adds £90 for example! Everything that couldn't be found on their system we've ordered directly from icandy as we can't be doing with any more hassle.

Justyouwait I am in the same boat, little girl doesn't seem to have a pattern. She will be really active one day kicking away and i will feel and see lots of movement, but then the next day i will be eating and doing exactly the same and she will be so lethargic and barely move. I can't pin down a regular pattern so i am worried about getting further along and not recognising if there is something wrong cause i will just go 'Oh shes having a quiet day'.

Ginger Back at uni two weeks after? omg i salute you. I am trying to rush my last 5 months of uni so i don't have to go back after the easter break and i am stressing like mad especially as it is my final year! How long will you have left when you go back?

plinkyplonks · 26/01/2015 10:17

:( 26+6 - was overweight before getting pregnant. I've gained 16lbs so far :( - most of it since week 20. Really hoping the weight gain slows down as I really don't think my back can take any further excess weight :(

cuphat that's good someone else is paying. Wasn't having a dig btw so hope it didn't come across like that Blush just wanted to post that things can be bought cheaper as the pressure to buy loads of expensive things, especially for first time mums, can be incredibly huge.

leanne I'm on placement until mid July and the uni have said I have to take a minimum of two weeks off. But I may be able to stretch it to 4 depending on when I have the baby. If I miss too much of one five week block I'll have to resit that block. If I miss too much time over two blocks then I'll have to resit the whole year! Not good!
Only have 6 weeks off for summer too, back to uni end of Aug :( but that's my final year :D
justyou I seem to have hours and hours of no movements then a short burst of ten minutes to maybe half an hour at most of crazy activity where my tummy is like something from Alien. No real pattern to the timings either.

Gingergeek · 26/01/2015 10:56

Oh and leanne I did the mad rush to get all my work done when I was pregnant with DS. It was my final year of my first degree and he was due around the same time my dissertation was due. Luckily I went ten days over, and was born on Good Friday so just in time for the long easter break. Meant I had plenty of time to get everything done in terms of revision for finals after the holidays. Still managed a 2.I even woth sitting exams with a three week old ebf baby :) so it can be done :)
No easter break for medicine unfortunately. Think the only time I'll have off is the May bank holiday. Must be mad this time round!
Good luck!!

Hi everyone, busy weekend for me, and have been a bit sick with a cold (dp on the other hand has full blown man flu Confused .....)

Sorry to hear so many of us are suffering with colds and not feeling great.

I'm also one who has very varied movements, I'm not too worried about it now, but suspect I may become so over the coming weeks.

Is it possible to be allergic to kiwi? I've never really eaten them, but mw advised one first thing in the morning to help with constipation. Friday morning and this morning I've been violently sick about 10 minutes after eating it. As someone who didn't get sick in the first trimester, I'm vaguely worried about being sick/harming baby.

Good luck to all those racing to finish uni work- it must be really hard to concentrate on it at the moment!!

leanne963 · 26/01/2015 11:14

Aw wow ginger i am taking inspiration from you! ha!! My dissertation is due a month before my due date which is good but i have other modules due during my due date. Hopefully it will all be ok! But i am annoyingly getting like 1 or 2 marks off a 2:1 on all my assigments so it is frustrating me as i really want a 2:1. I am finding it really hard to stay motivated at the moment, how did you push yourself? I guess cause i am not sure if i want to stay in Journalism (my degree) i am just like 'Argh i wanna stay at home for the next few months and nest and become all prepared' even though i already have everything done ha!

Gingergeek · 26/01/2015 11:31

Everything will work out. I think I found it easier to push myself last time as I could see the end with it being my final year. Although I knew there would be no career at the end of my last degree and I'd likely be going back to my old job once maternity was over (which is what happened!)

I also completely fear failure so not pushing myself, even if it is left to the very last minute, just doesn't ever happen! Hence the reasons why I suffer from anxiety most likely haha!
Have you got support on hand? That definitely helped me. DH amd both GPs were great at giving me revision time.
Away from GPs this time round but know that they'd drop everything if I needed them (well DH's parents would, mines not so much :P)

Struggling much more this time and like you just want to be at home nesting and playing at being a SAHM to my other two. No such luck though haha! Felt so ambitious when I started this degree, full of future career plans, and now I just want to work part time and be a safe doctor. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just feel like my whole "life plan" has changed in the last four years and all my career aspirations have vanished! So strange.

longestlurkerever · 26/01/2015 11:35

Mslad yes I think some people are allergic to kiwi. Very much doubt it would harm the baby though.
