Imogen is a lovely first name leanne! Having your Gran's name in there as well is very sweet! Mary is on my list as well as other "80s vintage names" that were common when we were all kids. As I have an unusual name myself, I seem to be gravitating towards more common names until I hear a beautiful unusual name and start the process all over again!

Also, not keen on alliteration and as my surname starts with an L, i don't like the sounds of girls names with an L in them next to my surname (even if i love the name) and never realised how many girls names had Ls in them!!

Who knew naming would be such a tricky process?! Grin

We are still set on Charles Jacob for our little boy (known as Charlie). I told someone we would have liked Louis as our first choice but my niece is called Lois and my brother was very put out that I would choose Louis so we can't have that. The man I told said well it's a good job you have a niece called Lois then as Louis is awful! Only a man could say that.

Threesoundslikealot · 18/01/2015 10:55

My daughter has my grandmother's name and my son my uncle's. I like Mary and Caroline! But it's really personal thing. We have a boy's name agreed and a shortlist for girls, and luckily quite a bit of common ground on it.

Well done on sorting the pram, Leanne!

I have had a small glass of wine pretty much every week since the start of the second trimester.

mumxof3x · 18/01/2015 10:59

Great news kittiker :D

I dont like any boys names at all now, or rather not any that I really like. I like a few starting with c but last name will be k and they just dont go when you say them together.

Chookford · 18/01/2015 11:12

Morning ladies

Interesting chat on names.. Someovely ones in here, my dd is Nellie so quite old fashioned but still beautiful in my opinion! Grin so I want something to go with that so far we have Edward for a boy but shortened to Ned and Dolly for a girl.. Again I'm sure a lot of people would think they are horrible but luckily me and dh have very similar taste in names!!

leanne963 · 18/01/2015 11:29

I love old fashioned names Chook I think they are quite endearing :) Edward is a great name cause there are so many variations, Ned, Ed, Eddie....

Thanks Kitty i am quite happy i was listening to some Imogen Heap and i was like 'Imogen' YES!!

My babies movements are really varied, some days she is quite, some days she goes crazy after a chocolate bar, but this morning i was doing my essay and i couldnt help but notice i felt her movements alot stronger, only lasted about 15 minutes now she is quiet again. Is this normal at our stage?! As i know she is getting bigger so am expecting movements to get stronger ETC but the whole 'Count the Kicks' thing is freaking me out! As i have never been pregnant before i don't know what is normal in these first few weeks of feeling movements as the will obviously start off small and get stronger and stronger....God i sound so neurotic, im sorry. Constantly posting in here about worries and concerns. Arghh!

Titsalinabumsquash · 18/01/2015 11:40

We've been round the houses and all the way back again with names, the couple we had settled on have been commented on so now we don't want to use them. I have along thread or several on here about it but still we have nothing.

I'm pretending I've got way longer than 10 weeks to decide so I don't get stressed about it Blush

My DD is Polly Madeleine, polly being the track off Nirvana's Nevermind. Madeleine was my Granny's Middle name. This one was going to be Luna Rose, Luna being the last track on Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream, Rose for no particular reason. Now my MIL has asked that her middle name be Grace which is DHs Granny's Middle name. I can live with Luna Grace as the symmetry is nice and it's nice to have family names but I resent being asked!!

KittyVonCatsington · 18/01/2015 11:53

See leanne, I am hoping I get inspiration like that, out of the blue for the perfect name! I think at our stage, those sorts of random movements are fine. Over the next few weeks, see if you can spot her routine

Am loving reading all of your thoughts on names-giving me more material to work with!!

leanne963 · 18/01/2015 11:56

Thanks kitty i am hoping it is just a normal gradual increase in movement and strength of movement, but because everyone is different i don't know what the 'norm' is!!

Bean I LOVE all of the music and song inspiration!!!

BeanCalledPickle · 18/01/2015 12:05

Thanks! I've never been up for choosing names just because I like them, I like way too many names to narrow it down! So by setting quite narrow parameters it's been much easier to chose!!

It is tricky though. You have to consider that it's your choice but their name. I love Ariadne and seraphina but whereas I'd happily live with those names I wouldn't be entirely happy about imposing them on someone else!

leanne963 · 18/01/2015 12:11

:O I love Seraphina Bean Yea see i really liked the name Lilith as i saw it pop up in True Blood and then i found out it had quite a negative connotation in the bible (not entirely sure) so didn't want her to be automatically thought of as a demon lol

mumxof3x · 18/01/2015 12:16

I had girls names but no boys lol. I do kind of like theo but mil says it doesnt go with my other boys names. Its so hard.

Tits whooaa 10wk sounds scary close lol sooo exciting.

leanne963 · 18/01/2015 12:34

mum Theodore was the only boys name i liked before we found out we were expecting a girl cause i really liked Theo and Teddy!

mumxof3x · 18/01/2015 12:46

Yea leanne I do like it I also liked flynn too again it doesnt go and it cant really be shortend to anything else...it sounds too modern against my boys names lol. Its just not going too well at all haha x

longestlurkerever · 18/01/2015 13:03

I think we are settled on Bethan, with Beth for short, now we know it's a girl. Boys were going to be tricky! Dd is Anna but we couldn't decide between Anna and Beth and I still like it 3.5 years later so think it's a safe option! Tricky to find a middle name that goes with it though. My surname places lots of constraints too (agree about alliteration. I have been hanging around the baby name boards but most names leave me cold. Like the choices on here though!

leanne963 · 18/01/2015 13:07

mum How about Finlay/Finley? Could be shortened to Finn? Kinda like Flynn? It is difficult isn't it?

Longest Beth and Anna sound fab together!! My partners last name makes it VERY difficult to find a name that goes with it, but to be honest nothing does haha!

applecore0317 · 18/01/2015 13:08

Hi :)
Congrats on all the good test results!

we were really struggling with boys names, only two that we both liked which were Owen Frances John... and then Maxwell as the other.

So was kind of good that its a girl as more to choose from lol, I really wanted Polly or Poppy, but DH wasn't as keen :( so our two favourites now are Emelia Jayne and Holly May, leaning towards Holly at the moment, although not going to decide until she is hear and am ignoring anyone that reminds me that she isn't being born at Christmas!!

applecore0317 · 18/01/2015 13:10

love Imogen and Seraphena, don't knoe anyone with those names Bean and Leanne :)

Scottishgal78 · 18/01/2015 13:37

Jumping in on the name chat! I was convinced I was having a girl and was brought up mainly by women so would've been easy to choose! But he's thrown a spanner in the works! When we found out he was a boy we were having a laugh calling him him various footballer names (oh is football mad) so at the moment yes called Zlatan! I'm becoming quite attached to it now! Would never get away with it in Glasgow!!Grin more sensible choices are old Scottish names like Arthur, Angus and Innes. Got plenty of time!

BeanCalledPickle · 18/01/2015 13:49

apple clearly you need to convince DH that Polly is the best name ever:-)

And may I recommend everyone screams their chosen name loudly twenty times an hour to check it stands up to frequent angry usage. Essential IMO!

leanne963 · 18/01/2015 13:54

Thanks Apple Hope i am not giving away too much personal info, but im sure if i was on the Facebook group it is stuff you would find out anyway, my partners surname is Parrett and Polly is a gorgeous name but it would just be cruel to name my child Polly Parrett. I also liked the name Noah for a boy but once i said it allowed it sounded like 'Know a Parrett' and again, that is just cruel.

Hahah Scottish That is brilliant, Zlatan is very original ;) But i definitely prefer Arthur!

mumxof3x · 18/01/2015 14:30

I dont think finlay fits in with my other 3 boys lol but I do like it leanne, I liked ethan which does fit but dp doesnt like it. Dp likes owen and leo.

applecore0317 · 18/01/2015 14:42

ha ha Bean, might broach it again when in labour ;)

ah leanne yep polly parret might not be the best, would never have thought of the noah connection though lol its weird how some names can just get chucked out for things like that. We've avoided any names associated with exes or people we think are tools

Mum - Ethan is one of DH's favourites, I love Finlay

and love the traditional scottish names scottishgal, am partial to unusual names also,

Scottishgal78 · 18/01/2015 14:45

Every man I know who's had a baby has said 'she can call him whatever she wants after going through that!' Might come in handy!
