Truly sympathise with the dreaded coursework Smiley - will be glad to see the back of controlled assessments for a while!

Thanks for the advice-glad I took photos so will print those off and give to DH. He is a teacher as well and we're thinking about when to take his paternity-was thinking the two weeks after May half term. Even if she Osborn late April, it will mean he can see off his exam classes and I get three weeks of his time and help,to look foward to Grin

I kept my original MATB1 last time and gave work a copy as advised; I got a manager to sign the copy saying that they'd seen the original. This is common practice where I work. The midwife also advised me this time to keep the original and take copies.

I think I finished at around 34 weeks last time. But I'm taking a 5 or 6 year career break which started after my maternity leave ended, so I didn't have to worry about how much time I'd get with the baby. I had DD earlier than expected due to her being breech so I'm glad I finished early. I know some people get bored, but I didn't (went away etc).

cuphat · 07/01/2015 19:50

My DH's work were very trusting as not only did they not even ask to see the MATB1 but they gave him the two weeks off with full pay!

Tori you might have felt something and just not realised it was the baby, so you know where your placenta is lying?

congrats on all the scans and the girls and boys news :)

I'm using a mix of holiday and mat leave, am quite lucky as I get 26 weeks full pay, then a further 13 weeks statutory if I want to take it, will also be using 4 weeks of holiday, planning to start on 4th May :)

Bazza2 · 07/01/2015 22:14

Tori I have barely felt a thing but as I saw today I have a kicky little boy in there. Turns out I have an anterior placenta so that probably explains it. A friend didn't feel anything til at least 28 weeks and now has a beautiful girl. Another friend claims he felt his baby kicking at 14 weeks but I think he's a bit silly and his girlfriend had wind.

longestlurkerever · 07/01/2015 22:53

tori I certainly go days on end without feeling anything much so do think it totally depends where the baby is lying. I also think I felt it earlier on with dd than this time (before even 14 weeks bazza!) so can fully believe it varies from pregnancy to pregnancy and person to person. My movements feel nothing like butterflies tbh but more like muscle twinges.

mumxof3x · 08/01/2015 09:03

I definately could feel the first movements with my subsequents before 14wk although not on the outside. Although even when I had my scan this time she saud he was moving when I couldnt feel it but alot of time I feel him, so I think it depends how they are laid and where the placenta is...mines posterior on the lower left side. Everyone is totally, different and i wouldnt worry tori.

I had braxton hicks allll night last night, everytime I moved, everytime I got out of bed, just constantly basicaly lol. It got rather annoying.

Threesoundslikealot · 08/01/2015 09:31

Glad you're feeling happier, Smiler.

I'm almost 23 weeks, with an anterior placenta, and this is the first week I've felt much movement. I've had it every day now, but since 18 weeks it's been pretty sporadic.

In my first pregnancy I had appalling SPD and finished work at 34 weeks because I couldn't move, basically. The second time round I planned to take leave and go at 36 weeks, and actually could have gone on till the baby arrived as the SPD didn't come back and I stayed really mobile. So this time I'm aiming not to take the leave, and work to the end, on the basis that hopefully I'll be fine again. It varies so much though. I know women who've gone into labour at work, and ones that have felt absolutely beyond working by 32 weeks! Also of course it depends on your job. Mine is sedentary, and can be done at home if necessary most of the time. If I had a more active job, or one that involved lots of standing, it would be different.

cuphat · 08/01/2015 10:39

I have an anterior placenta (again) and movement has been coming and going. I felt movements very early on, before the placenta became anterior. Then they stopped for weeks. Last week, I felt some movements again, but only very low down. They've stopped again now for the past few days. I think I can only feel movement when baby kicks underneath my placenta. I'm 20 weeks tomorrow.

Chookford · 08/01/2015 11:00

Morning ladies

I'm feeling quite a lot of movement now, but not in any sort of pattern yet just when bubba feels like having a boogie! I'm 20+4

Are they any scans happening today?!

Racheyg · 08/01/2015 13:28

Congratulations everyone on your scans. I don't have my scan till nxt wed. I'm really nervous, I think cause I've hardly felt bambino move. I know once I've had the scan and baby is moving more I can relax. Xx

applecore0317 · 08/01/2015 19:05

think I've got round ligament pain, low down accross the bottom of my bump, feel sore and I swear its grown overnight Hmm

I was the same Racheyg hope it goes quick between now and your scan

I have days of loads of movement and days when she is much quieter, think like longestlurker said, depends where she is lying. Feels like little pops, like an internal air bubble popping and sometimes feels like being tickled from inside

SmileyScooby · 08/01/2015 20:36

Well my movements have been like muscle spasms/pulsing feeling - certainly no little butterflies here! Bump certainly likes to move around at this time of evening as was moving this time yesterday too.

Anyone else suffering with a pain (shooting like pain) at the bottom of their bum cheek/top of leg? I've got it on and off and makes walking painful at times (bearable but painful)

Am also thinking at somepoint i am going to have to find somewhere that waxes down below as can't shave my bikini line (not that I've ever worn a bikini!!) as can't see it...think will be bit dangerous to try!

Titsalinabumsquash · 08/01/2015 20:44

I've had real problems with pain the past few days, my fanjo feels like it's taken a swift kick from a martial arts expert and all down my right side has gone, walking is a challenge, crutches are in my immediate future I think!
I'm have some big kicks and a little bottom stuck out so I have a perma lopsided bump but I'm 23+4 and she's my fourth so it might be that I'm used to it, I have a high posterior placenta and a completely tilted womb/cervix so I'm not sure how that plays a part.

bradders85 · 08/01/2015 20:49

walking is proving to be uncomfortable for me too.....for a few weeks now the top inside of my legs hurt, like I've pulled the muscles and can feel them when I walk, worse after I've sat for a while, like I've seized up!! think I'm going to mention it to midwife at next appointment.

jazzyjenbo · 08/01/2015 20:51

Just bobbing in to say hi,
Congrats on this weeks scans, if i remember rightly tomorrow was due to be a very busy scan day?
Then i think by the end of next week all of the 20 week scans will be complete. On Sunday the 31st if mayers will be 20 weeks so seems like a massive milestone to have us all on the 20 week countdown.
I find it very interesting seeing how many more blues there are to pinks.. I wonder if it will even out when all the yellow babies reveal themselves in May, interestingly it seems the same pattern in the June baby camp.. 20 week scans started this week and along with the early gender scan results its looking very blue over there aswell.
I hadnt felt much movement until 18 weeks and i'm progressively feeling more each day. Can't wait to find out what i'm having on monday... Whos betting a boy!

leanne963 · 08/01/2015 20:59

Heya everyone! Yup I'm one of the scan tomorrow! 8.40am nice and early! I'm kinda nervous but excited!!! Can't wait to see her again! Do we get any scans after this point or is the 20 week scan the last one?!
Can't believe I am counting down now!!!! 19 weeks to go ????

Sunshinesaz86 · 08/01/2015 21:18

smily yours sounds like what I've had a couple if times nerve/syatica feels like a trapped shooting pain doen bottom of back down bum and top leg. Mines usually after being in car too long but fortunately doesn't last long once I start walking! Also snap on the wax! In desperate need! Blush

applecore0317 · 08/01/2015 21:20

smileyscooby I literally was just saying that to my Mum about the fact that I will have to pay to get my bikini line waxed lol

Could be the start of sciatica, mine starts in my bum and goes down my leg, although thankfully haven't suffered with it for about a year.

Good luck for tomorrow leanne963 and to everyone else having their scans

Chookford · 08/01/2015 21:24

leanne good luck for tomorrow!!

I'm lucky in that my best friend is a beauty therapist so if waxing is required she will do it for me! Grin

leanne963 · 08/01/2015 21:35

Hah smiley I have never had a bikini wax I would be so scared!! I currently can shave as I AM getting into a bikini on Sunday!

Thanks chook and apple who else has theirs tomorrow!?

Racheyg · 08/01/2015 21:50

apple- thanks. I keep telling myself that bambino is only small. The midiwfe had trouble hearing its hb, but she said it could be due to the placenta or sometime if you have had a previous C section sometimes the placenta can sit differently. roll on nxt wednesday :)

Leanne - enjoy ur scan tomorrow. I havent got mine till nxt wed.

x

Mine is tomorrow leanne - half 10!

I've been on hols this week so tomorrow's scan will be the lovely end to my Xmas break. Just landed at Gatwick after a few days with DH & FIL and we are on way home now full of excitement for the scan. I'm 22 + 5 now so we are desperate to see babyd0t again. We are firm team yellow too though I'm finding looking for 'stuff' that's not either pink, blue or kinda boring beige a challenge. Anyone else in team yellow got a similar challenge!?

Someone mentioned not seeing / feeling much movement earlier today and I'd been in the same camp until a week ago. BUT - last night went out for big Mexican meal & had first wee glass of red in almost 9 months. By time I got to bed about an hour after the meal finished, I was feeling lots of movement. In fact, it was clear that babyd0t had hiccups!! So amazing and bizarre at the same time and def worth the wait...!!!!! This went on for about ten mins or so and even DH could spot the movements. I was so thrilled. Obviously blaming the jalapeños and not the house red Grin
