mum congrats on the good scan news!

apple good luck for this afternoon...

mumxof3x · 06/01/2015 11:02

Mine lasted about 45 mins apple. But my other 3ds didnt, theirs was about 20 mins. I had a student this time so she took her time and then really showed us every single bit in detail after and then another sonographer rechecked over the work etc. Good luck :)

Mslad · 06/01/2015 11:32

Congrats on your scan mum and good luck today apple
Did you need a full bladder for this scan?

Thanks so much to everyone for the constipation advice yesterday! Kitty, I think you're right, it's definitely something to soften things that I need. I rang my mw yesterday afternoon to ask for advice, she recommended a kiwi and cup of coffee before I eat or drink anything else in the morning. I did point out that I thought coffee was on the banned list, but she said not to worry about it. I tried it this morning and it worked! However, I am feeling particularly anxious about my scan tomorrow, so that may have contributed to it Blush dp is disappointed it worked as he doesn't want me drinking coffee.....Hmm

piglet81 · 06/01/2015 11:56

Coffee isn't banned - the NHS says 200mg of caffeine a day is OK (140mg in a mug of filter coffee). I can't bear to do without completely so have been limiting myself to one mug of filter/cafetiere coffee most days, and usually have half-caff or quarter-caff coffee (from M&S) if I have my coffee at home. I must sound like some kind of addict Blush but it's not the same starting the day without a nice cup of coffee!

Congrats on the latest scans and good luck for those coming up. I didn't need a full bladder for mine. I forgot to ask, did anyone else have an internal scan at 20 weeks to check cervix length etc, as well as the main abdominal scan? I wasn't expecting that but it was quite reassuring to know that my cervix looked fine as I've had a small biopsy taken in the past.

longestlurkerever · 06/01/2015 12:06

Congrats on your scan mum and good luck today apple

Yes totally, piglet I am very proud of myself for cutting down to 1 coffee a day but look forward to it all day! In fact the dr said you can probably have more but I have been good!

Boring question from me. Where do I get hold of a MATB1 form, given I don't have a midwife appointment until 28 weeks? I think I'm supposed to hand it in at work before 25 weeks, is that right?

Mslad · 06/01/2015 12:30

Interesting replies re coffee! Personally I could take or leave most of the advice and think everything in moderation, but I have cut out everything I thought was banned, in a kind of 'in for a penny, in for a pound' kind of way. But now I might reassess my coffee intake- my cup this morning was amazing!

aberjen · 06/01/2015 12:34

longest My midwife told me to make an extra appointment to see her so she could give my my MATB1. She won't examine me or anything, will just give me the form. If you see someone who isn't your regular midwife or GP to get the form then apparently they need to examine you first before filling in the form. (Because obviously you might not really be pregnant and just want the form to try and bunk off work for a year HmmWink). Yes, you need to hand it in before 25 weeks, and you can't get it before 20 weeks. You can also get it from your GP, but again would probs need to make an appointment? Which is why my midwife said to see her instead of GP, as she thought it better to'waste' a midwife appointment vs GP appointment (GP appointments seem to be rarer than hens teeth at my surgery).

Mmmm coffee Brew. I 'allow' myself one proper coffee a day, and decaf for the rest. Everything else nice is bloody banned so I intend to make full use of my 200 mg caffeine allowance!!

Congrats on the good scan news mum. Good luck apple.

Mslad I didn't need full bladder at all this time, but with DD1 they had trouble getting some measurements so I was sent away to drink something and wait 30 mins, before being brought back in again.

leanne963 · 06/01/2015 12:38

I have everything 'caffeine free' now. I love cola, tea and coffee, so i try to feel less guilty drinking the caffeine free brands.

I think i felt the babies head poke out last night, i was with my friend and i suddenly felt pressure on the right side of my belly and a tiny hard lump was there but everywhere else was soft!! so bizarre but amazing!!

Congrats on the Scan mum I have mine Friday!! I hope they do an internal scan as that is my main concern at the moment that my cervix is just going to give way when i am walking or if i cough too hard lol. Just want some reassurance that everything is ok!

aberjen · 06/01/2015 12:42

piglet I've never had an internal to check cervix length at any of the routine scans. Maybe it was because of your past history that they wanted to check? Good that all looks well.

On the food advice, I know the chances of anything 'bad' happening if I eat brie, or a nice rare steak, or dippy egg are infinitely small, but there's that bit of me that thinks 'what if' and I'm not sure I could forgive myself if I was that one rare person who managed to get listeriosis when pg. I have been a little more relaxed this time though, with the odd bit of cured meat or slightly squidgy egg etc.

piglet81 · 06/01/2015 12:46

Ooh, I forgot to say I saw the baby moving last night - he was kicking away merrily as he often does in the evenings, then I saw a sort of ripple across my bump! Very odd but exciting too.

I must make sure I remember to get my MATB1 form at my next appointment - would be terrible to miss the window and mess up my maternity leave arrangements!

Fluffeh · 06/01/2015 12:52

Piglet - she offered me an internal scan at 20 week scan to check my placenta and how much was covering the opening but I declined as they'll only have to check again later and I find the internal scans really uncomfortable.
My spd is evil today. Took dd to playgroup this morning and stupidly sat playing on the floor with her and now I can barely move. That's lesson learned over sitting on the floor.
I have my consultant appointment on Thursday morning to sort everything out. It feels very real all of a sudden.

cuphat · 06/01/2015 12:52

I got my MATB1 at 17 weeks! It clearly says on it that it shouldn't be given before 20 weeks but I went to see the midwife about PGP and she gave it to me at the same time.

applecore0317 · 06/01/2015 14:57

scan all good, healthy baby but very stubborn, curled up in a ball face down. Good job we already know the sex lol

piglet- I am having an internal scan to check the length of my cervix on the 21st, following Lletz treatment 13 months ago, was a seperate thing to this scan

Chookford · 06/01/2015 15:06

apple congrats on good scan news!!

herewegoagain1234 · 06/01/2015 15:41

Hello, still here just not a regular poster. I'm 21w+4 and found out today we're team blue! :D A little brother for our angel Henry. Loving the posts everyone, allowing myself to be a teeny tiny bit excited today!!!

Chookford · 06/01/2015 16:56

here massive congrats on your blue bundle too.. Henry sent another little boy to his mummy.

The boys seem to be ruling at the moment!

KittyVonCatsington · 06/01/2015 17:16

Great news on your baby Boy here!!

I've also had the odd cup of tea that isn't decaffinated and enjoyed it! The massive cut down of caffiene from Coke, coffee etc. though, has contributed to the fatigue I'm sure!!

TwinkleTee · 06/01/2015 17:35

piglet yes I had an internal cervical length scan yesterday. Had also had some cervical treatment after CIN3 abnormal cells, but it all looks good!

Although I had a student doctor learning how to do internal scans from the consultant, she was fishing around in there a lot longer than I really wanted Blush

Really relieved to see all the posts about prams! I've been browsing and wanting to check some out in the flesh, but was worried that it was all too early. This is the best thread for helping me not feel like a weirdo. Thanks ladies!!

Titsalinabumsquash · 06/01/2015 17:58

I have been having decaf coffee and tea, although coke/Pepsi I've been having regular but I don't drink any of it a lot, I prefer Ribena or pure juice Blush (yes, I'm a big kid!)
Normally I can't function without a barrel of coffee everyday but the couple that I've tried gave give pm me such bad heart burn it's not worth it.

Sorry for the tmi but has anyone found their boobs have started hurting again and getting worse? My nipples and the area around them are so sore and achey Blush no signs of leaking or anything yet though. I normally don't even go braless in bed but this past week I've whipped it off as soon as I'm home.

Scottishgal78 · 06/01/2015 18:21

Congratulations Apple and Here on your scans!

teachermummy2b · 06/01/2015 18:33

My thing is tea! Luckily as there is less caffeine than coffee I have been able to indulge - just not too much!

tits my nipples have been very sore again lately and im sure they look different!

applecore0317 · 06/01/2015 18:36

congrats here :) and great news about the internal scan twinkle!

My boobs were feeling tender and my bras were uncomfortable so I went and got re measured today and my size had changed again. In a much better fitting bra now and they hurt a lot less... if that helps at all, I have noticed that ths skin on my nipples is a bit flaky. .

I miss my coffee, I don't like fizzy drinks and am not keen on juice, so only drink water, coffee was my thing...

leanne963 · 06/01/2015 18:48

My nippers are is very dark and .......just noticed I put nippers....kinda like that ha! ...and my boobs are much bigger with lots of veins! I am fascinated by how my body is changing. Does anyone just stand it their pants looking at how their body looks?!! My boyfriend always catches me doing it and laughs ha!!

BeanCalledPickle · 06/01/2015 19:48

My thing is diet coke and I was delighted to see that extends to five cans a day! I have never drunk coffee and have always felt like I've missed out on a major social event. Now I see how much caffeine there is in there I kind of wish I did drink it!!

Having already bought two lots of maternity bras I can't bear the thought of another round but it seems inevitable. These are obviously too small....

plinkyplonks · 06/01/2015 19:49

Congratulations to all those who have had their scans x
