Morning ladies

MrsE lovely to see you... I am the same I am back to full on panic mode! I have scan's on the 15th and 19th and am bricking it! baby is kicking away as I type but still the fear prevails!

Fructose congrats and welcome to the thread!

I have started to buy things like wipes, nappies and nappy sacks and baby wash and shampoo little bits each time I do a big shop so by the time May is here I wont need anything like that.. big purchases I am going to wait until after my next lot of scans just to make sure everything really is ok I have decided on pram and cot... already have a moses basket, high chair and bits so its not too bad really like sun I am moving in April so I don't want to buy too much until after we have settled in really!

Chookford · 07/01/2015 11:19

spodo congrats and welcome to the thread! Do you know/will you be finding out what your having?

comeagainforbigfudge · 07/01/2015 11:19

I'm worried too. Also 35.

But I figure I can't actually change or control the situation. It's a niggle but I'm trying to not let it get more than that easier said than done some days

But then I have stoopid in laws pissing me off so that helps refocus my worries Grin their comments are being useful to me after all!

cuphat · 07/01/2015 11:23

I'm 35 in a couple of months. First I worried that I'd have trouble conceiving (it happened straight away!). And now I'm worrying about possible problems with the baby. Can't wait to get my scan over and done with.

MrsExtraOrdinary · 07/01/2015 11:28

I'm hoping If everything looks well as poss on 20 week I might start relaxing a bit. I'm very anxious about all sorts of things. Silly as a mum of 5. But birth worries me, not the pain, can do that but that Dh might miss it. I desperately want him here. Had first bout of thrush over the weekend, that made me feel glorious I must say. Really not enjoying this pregnancy so far feeling a bit low.

cuphat · 07/01/2015 11:30

We're buying the pram/pushchair after my 20 week scan. But DD will be able to use it as a single pushchair straight away; we'll add the carrycot on it when baby is born. That'll give us a few months to sell our current pram/pushchair.

We're also going to decorate the nursery not long after the 20 week scan (as we're having the hallway decorated anyway). Then we'll order the furniture. We'll have to reorganise our room to create more storage space as all of DH's stuff is in what will be baby's nursery. Not looking forward to that!

cuphat · 07/01/2015 11:32

Sorry you're feeling like that Mrs. I hope you feel better after your scan.

comeagainforbigfudge · 07/01/2015 11:49

MrsExtraOrdinary I'm sorry your feeling low.
Are you normally anxious, or is this a new development?
What can we do to help? Flowers
Can you phone a mw or speak to your Dr with your worries?
Can you talk to dh? At least let him share your worry? He might be feeling the same?

I really need to start doing my to do list for today instead of mnetting !

SpodoKomodo · 07/01/2015 12:07

don't know yet chookford but definitely want to find out. Do you know?

I'm also 35 next birthday and worrying more than with my previous pregnancy. I won't buy anything until after the 20 week scan.

HexyQueen · 07/01/2015 12:08

I mentioned being worried about being an older mum to my consultant (at 42, I'm much older than you lovely ladies) & he said it was- and I quote -"bollocks spread by the Daily Mail" & that the evidence showed the incidence of age-related issues with the baby were rare. Yes there is an increase in rate of very early miscarriage, & there is never any guarantee of a healthy baby whatever your age, but talk of frequent later probs are often just scare stories put about to make women breed earlier. He was really reassuring, so try not to let your anxiety get the better of you. Xxx

HexyQueen · 07/01/2015 12:11

As seen on FB video I posted, this baby is ridiculously active ATM, seems very early to be able to see the kicks through my tummy . DP was thrilled when I sent him the video, then asked if I was harbouring an alien!!!

But thought I'd better say That for ladies not feeling anything yet, that is perfectly normal too. I'd only just started to question whether I was feeling fluttering at this stage last pg (18+3). So seeing kicks just makes me a freak, I think. Also I don't have much fat left due to weight loss from hyperemesis, so am all bump, which could be a contributing factor.

SpodoKomodo · 07/01/2015 12:15

That is reassuring Hexy. Plus it's always fun being on the Daily Mail hitlist

especially as I am / was

unmarried when I had DC1
a "career wumman"
"working mother"
"scrounging forunner"
and now a "selfish older mother"
bbq'er of swans

Yay!

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 07/01/2015 12:37

Thanks for the heads up on the heartburn/acid reflux. I ve never had it before and only had it two days and now it's disappeared again.

I am 35 three days before my due date but I ve not actually ever worried about my age and whether it would affect the baby (maybe I am being naive), as I figured I can't change the number so there's no point worrying about it until I am given any news that may require worrying.

I have now also developed a sleeping pattern which means I can't sleep before 4am, no matter what time I get up in morning, even if I get up at 9am I am still not able to sleep that night until 4am. Should be having my 16 week mw app soon so I ll mention it.

Chookford · 07/01/2015 12:40

Grin Hexy and spodo! I am seeing kicks too hexy it makes my stomach look very strange at times.. my dd thinks its gross! I was not seeing movement this early (20+3) with her.

Spodo no we will not be finding out, it will be a surprise! I didn't with my dd either and was a lovely experience where my dh told me what we had so I wanted to repeat that this time too!

MrsExtraOrdinary · 07/01/2015 12:59

Dh knows ive lost the plot and hexy that's very reassuring. I can't believe my body has totally gone to put over the last few years really. Last pregnancy was an eye opener and the drs just scaremongered me. I won't go into it but not a nice experience. I'm one of those that loathes being pregnant the upside is I know as soon as I have the baby the cloud lifts. Drs are useless imo especially Gps that's why ive opted out and am going private. For me it's like invasion of the body snatchers. I just don't feel like me. But I will do. I keep telling myself I never am doing this ever again. Grin

WrappedInABlankie · 07/01/2015 13:07

So after worry I hadn't had my consultant appointments through yesterday with the midwife as I'd seen him at least once with DS1 by now. She rung them and they said they'd sort it. They've just fallen through the door Grin

They now say Ante Natal team on though instead of consultant so was a tad confused until she cleared it up

Thanks for the reassurance hexy your doc sounds fab! I am also 35 but still feel 25 (except for the extra flab) so not been too worried since the combined test results came back ok. Am hoping to have another one in a couple of years (depending how this one goes) so good to know all is not doom and gloom!

Bazza2 · 07/01/2015 13:16

Chookford · 07/01/2015 13:22

Congratulations Bazza!! Wow, there is a lot of blue in the air!

I am also 35 (although don't necessaily feel it). I remember reading that dailymail article and being reassured by it.
