Ohh jam, how lovely of you to want to find any way of supporting your daughter... Maybe mention this thread/mumsnet to her aswell if you think she would like the support.
Congratulations on the first grandchild aswell!
I had a low lying placenta with my first son (now 4)... Detected at 12 week scan still low at 20 weeks but had moved up away from cervix by 32 weeks. This happens in most cases that i researched at the time.
Healthcare has moved on tremendously as you know in the past 40 years and i'm sure that should your daughter need a elcs she will be in safe and experienced hands.
Hang around on here if u like, lots of the chat will be relevent in that it will reflect the stage your daughter is at and many of the girls are having elcs and also afew with low placenta.
Also re the bleeding... I had some early bleeding and again at about 16 weeks... She must take it as a sign and start to rest up. It can be hard as at 16-20 weeks you are feeling more normal again.
Any questions fire away, theres alit of experience on this thread and pushing 100 june mums-to-be
X x

Chookford · 05/01/2015 22:07

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 05/01/2015 22:21

Hello Jam, lovely to have you here.

Hello also to MummyMathsTeacher - lovely to have you too! Assuming by your username you were back in school today. Did you have inset or Real Children?!

Holiday-wise, we went to the Olympics when dd was 3 weeks and then flew to Switzerland when she was 6 weeks. My pils thought we were crazy and even rang us to tell us we were naive and they thought we shouldn't plan it, but our view was always that we'd see how things were and if she was difficult/ill/I was having a hard time recovering then of course we wouldn't go. As it was it was wonderful! We will almost certainly try the same thing this year when the new dc will be about 8 weeks.

Back to school here today, depressing inset! I don't usually work Mondays either but have to go for the inset so it always feels extra hard work!!

Mummymathsteacher · 05/01/2015 22:25

Inset for me too...marginally better than seeing the kids today, but only just! The countdown til half term has begun here already!

Baby has to have her own passport and you need the birth certificate. The person signing the form signs to say they know you.
If you can it is quicker if you can go to the passport office yourself... First passports can take upto 6 weeks but only a week if u pay extra and go in person. Got dd's in a week when we went to the liverpool office... She was 4 mths when we got it.

I don't think I would be brave enough to take a baby abroad this year, I have had a hard enough time in past packing and getting myself to an airport let alone a newborn as well.

jamakatab · 06/01/2015 01:02

Thanks for your welcome. Smile
I've just had a long FaceTime chat with my daughter and now have a little more information. She is currently Grade III placenta previa and has been told to do no lifting, no intercourse etc. I think because of the ongoing bleeding (was listening and trying not to ask questions). The last two scans were 'viability' scans and having seen them the baby looks fine to my untrained eye, but my daughter is concerned about the effects of ongoing bleeds on the baby's development. The place she lives is quite some distance from a hospital so she's happy to continue working on light duties for as long as possible on the basis that she actually works in a hospital and will therefore be in the best place if she needs attention.
I feel so very sorry for her and her husband. They want to be excited and enjoy the pregnancy, but until the baby is viable all they can do is try to put their feelings on hold. They had planned to tell the wider family about the baby after the 20 week scan, but have decided now to wait until 32 weeks. I have three other children (and 2 grandsons) and having spent a family Christmas with them all I know how thrilled (and surprised) they would be to know about their sister's pregnancy, but I think she's right not to tell them because they would all be very worried for her, especially as my children are very close, and she would then have to manage their concerns as well as her own.
I don't usually wish time away, but in this case I do wish we were in July already - with a safe delivery behind me.

Welcome jam. That must be so stressful for you all. Fingers crossed that everything is fine.

And welcome mummy.

Tranquilitybaby · 06/01/2015 08:02

Welcome jam, what a worrying time for you all. Glad your daughter is gettingg good hospital care and hopefully all will be ok xx

Also welcone to the group Mummy.

Ive got my 16 week MW appt this morning, wee sample at the ready and she said she's going to try and listen for the heartbeat too. What else happens, it's bern a while since I did this!

AnythingNotEverything · 06/01/2015 08:44

Oh Jam, big hugs, that all sounds so tough, especially with them being abroad and alone.

My 16 wk app is tomorrow. I'm expecting wee dip, bp, heartbeat listen, box ticked re scan, and done. Nothing exciting!

Tranquility, I had my 16 week apt last week. Wee test, heartbeat listen and a general chat about upcoming jabs (whooping cough, Anti D) and how the appointments are going to work. We basically went over a lot of the information from my booking in, because the midwife then was rubbish and didn't cover half the stuff she'd claimed to in the notes.

The midwife also encouraged my OH to go to one of the men's sessions (it's our first) and asked whether we'd signed up to NCT.

For someone more experienced, it'll probably be a short appointment, but I really appreciated the lovely midwife answering all my dumb question in great detail.

Bazza2 · 06/01/2015 09:29

Is anyone else suffering from the most agonising knee and thigh pains? It's just on one side but it's waking me up at night. The doctor had a look and it isn't DVT or anything and she has given me permission to use ibuprofen gel. But it isn't helping much so far. Any tips?

ChatEnOeuf · 06/01/2015 10:12

Welcome Jam - that must be so worrying for you being far away and unable to help. I'm overseas as well, but nearer to home - it's hard. Hi MummyMaths and congrats :)

Need to get my head around the passport situation here ASAP - I have two weddings in two weeks, starting about a week after our due date. I'm determined to come but it's going to be tricky finding anyone who has know us for the right length of time here - we've not lived here long!

jazzyjenbo · 06/01/2015 11:22

Morning All
I was very excited last night (and ended up staying up for an extra hour) as my little one was doing a dance and twirl and I was able to feel the movement with my hand on my tummy for the first time. Hope DH gets to feel it soon.

I have just updated the stats with the newbees and the updated info.

I hope no one minds but I have had abit of a reJig of some of the stats. I have created a list at the bottom with the members who havn't posted since before 12 week scans. I really hope you are all ok and are either lurking or moved to other boards. If any of you are lurking and want to update us we would love to hear from you.

Heres the stats
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/187-SzT22h7P7Foe5S0_Ba3TwU-HnDohALFohx9_AoFI/edit?pli=1#gid=0

3 20 week scans this week, all finding out the sex so lets see if the girls start to catch up with the boys!! - loads of 20 week scans next week, 4 more weeks and I think we will all be on the 20 week countdown!

Tranquilitybaby · 06/01/2015 11:36

Well done jazzy, thank for updating. X

Appointment went well, heard the heartbeat 149 beats per minute, she's prescribed me some Gaviscon for the awful acid reflux I have (threw up in the shower this nothing and it burnt my throat). All fine and has left me feeling very smiley. x

cuphat · 06/01/2015 11:42

Yay for the movement jazzy! And good work on the stats - thanks. I have an extra scan on 1st May (when I book my ELCS date). If you wouldn't mind adding that please I'd appreciate it (I appear to have been a bit rubbish giving my 16 wk appt and gender scan dates!). I'll get to pick my ELCS date which will be around the 22nd May. Was going to go for the 25th but have realised that's a bank holiday so not sure if that will affect things.

cuphat · 06/01/2015 11:43

Glad your appt went well tranquility.

AnythingNotEverything · 06/01/2015 12:39

Bazza are you sleeping with a pregnancy pillow? I found last time that a pillow between my knees stopped me twisting in my sleep.
