I know someone who's convinced she'll get to America with an 8 week old baby.

Madness I think. It'll be her first and she could have all sorts of problems bf, recovering etc.

I'm sitting waiting on my appointment. Been here over an hour and not been seen by ANYONE! It's the law of this blooming clinic. You are expected to have a long wait. I'm so bored! Should have brought a book!

Sitting thinking how I would redesign the clinic waiting area!

On the plus side I've been here long enough to produce a urine sample. (Pee'd before I left house of course)

And someone's husbands aftershave is giving me a headache!!

Moan moan moan

We went to Barcelona for the weekend when DS was 12 weeks - enough time to sort his passport etc.

So we are planning a September hol Abroad but probably won't book til last minute.

I found at 3 months Ds was easy to travel with, I was exclusively breastfeeding so no worries about bottles etc and he also slept a lot so we had lots of nice walks/meals out with him kipping in buggy.

Of course it will be harder with toddler Ds too so we're likely to go for a kid friendly resort in the med somewhere.

Hey Jazzy - scan is at 11am tomorrow so will update then as to whether I am team blue or pink!

JennyOfOldstones · 05/01/2015 15:40

I don't need to think about holidays as lack of maternity pay plus ridiculous mortgage means we won't be able to afford a holiday this year! DP is a teacher though so looking forward to six weeks of lovely family days out! He usually spends six weeks playing on his xbox so will be in for a shock haha! Grin

We are having a week in Dubai at end of Feb as babymoon which will be our holiday this year. That will probably be it.

We are hoping for a long weekend away somewhere just the two of us before baby is due as we are moving in April it's unlikely we will go abroad this year.. We did when dd was 12 wks to Spain and she was an angel slept all the way there and back and most of the holiday to be honest!

ChatEnOeuf · 05/01/2015 16:50

We booked a law-of-sod holiday to Barbados for Feb after I miscarried in August (my mum spends a few weeks at a friend's villa there each year, we are joining her for the first time). That's our main holiday this year. We may get to the lakes in July (again, family's villa) but it depends on passport acquisition for the new one. If we miss that we may look at something in the last week of August - I've seen a beautiful-looking place in Liechtenstein :)

htf2 · 05/01/2015 17:10

I am hoping to go to paris in August, my sister will be there and get an apartment with a sofa bed so I can come :D. I am due 5 June though so this will be a 2 month old, and it's only a couple hour train trip. Apart from that no holiday plans! DH is taking 1 or 2 weeks paternity leave, and then we are probably going to try and spread it out when our parents are variously visiting from Australia...
I have spent a couple of hours today looking at online maternity sales. Analysis paralysis! I wish I knew if I am going to need to go a size up in pants etc!!

Tryingreallyhard84 · 05/01/2015 17:13

no hollibobs for us this year. baby + new bathroom + nursery = poor Trying Sad Still, I'm not complaining really. Grin I've put the bathroom off since we moved in and everyone said if we don't do it before the baby comes, we'll never get it done.

I am a teeny bit jealous of those getting some sun as my oh is not a sun holiday lover.

jazzyjenbo · 05/01/2015 17:28

I think i must be mad thinking about summer hol then judging by what the rest of u are planning!
I should add that my parents have a villa in turkey so it would only be fights and normal supermarket shop money needed... So about £1200 inclusive for 4 flights and spends!
I can just see us now ... We would be 'that' family on the plane with a 4yr old, just 3 yr old and a newborn!! Lol
Gona start trying to save neway and otherwise we will b in lakes or north wales instead at family places! Mite need a lakes meet up by the sounds of it.

cuphat · 05/01/2015 17:38

Mine isn't either, trying. In fact my husband hates holidays in general; we only ever go if they've been paid for (i.e. family holidays or linked to visiting family). Which is why I'm a bit disappointed we have to turn this down.

jazzyjenbo · 05/01/2015 18:15

I've just been reading the 'pregnancy' boards... I know alot of us were following the 'waters broke at 18weeks' thread.... Turns out she was a troll!!

Sunbathing the thread was so believable... I think it was back in oct she said her waters broke and hospital put her on bedrest and referral to liverpool womens... 100's of women commented wishing her luck and telling there stories of the 'condition' (sorry forgotten correct term)... She gave weekly updates, first aiming for 24 viable time and then week by week... At 28 weeks, 8 weeks of lies... Announced babies birth and name, then added photos!!! Presumable sum she had just found on google... It was after that that apparently concerns were raised as the photos wernt of a 28 weeker... I cannot believe sum1 would lie and lead ppl on for that long... I mean sum 'troll' threads are funny, like the baby name ones but that was sick!

JennyOfOldstones · 05/01/2015 19:03

How strange! And to keep it up for that long too with such detail! I don't really see the point but each to their own!

Sunbathing - i've just been reading abit of the jan bus and afew familiar names are on there... There were asking mrse for an update on you re pink/blue!!

jazzyjenbo · 05/01/2015 19:25

Should add... Mrse didnt say what u were having.

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 05/01/2015 19:39

I haven't seen the thread but I can't understand why someone would make that up, when they know full well that for some families a baby born that early is a reality, often without the happy outcome. It is quite sick.

With regards to holidays, we are thinking of a family home before baby is born in June, possibly the lakes as it's only 30 minutes up the road from where I live. After June, we are thinking of either going up to Scotland to stay at Gleneagles, where I had a lot of my half term holidays as a child, or South Wales. My Dad grew up near Tenby so we thought it's beautiful in summer, great beaches and family things to do for OH's dd who will be 6 by then. All booked last minute as depends on the holiday split with his ex partner.

I read that thread! Can't believe that was a whole load of lies... She was very believable someone has to be pretty unhinged to do something like that (serious matters, not the silly stuff)

AnythingNotEverything · 05/01/2015 20:29

We're possibly having a week in oh so glamorous Cheshire at Easter, and then a few days in London/Herts with family in Sept, and possibly something like Centre Parcs in October half term.

Aiming for a big holiday in June 2016.

Sorry, long post:
Not an expectant mum, but a granny in waiting. Please can I hang around here? My daughter and her husband are living on the other side of the world and after many years of marriage are now (surprisingly, but happily) expecting their first baby. My daughter is 38 (an 'elderly' primagravida) and has been bleeding intermittently since about 7 weeks and is now bleeding slightly every day. Sad She has had three scans and so far the baby is fine, but she has placenta previa. She will find out at the end of this month (20 week scan - baby due 14.06.15) if the placenta is still low, and if so will have to have another scan at thirty two weeks. If she still has placenta previa then the hospital say she will be given a c-section at 37 weeks, which will be around the end of May.
I am beside myself with worry. She works in healthcare and has a very demanding job and although she has been put on lighter duties I worry that she should be resting more. I don't want to ask her too many questions because if I do she'll worry about me worrying IYSWIM. We'll know more after her next scan, but I have a cousin who died in childbirth (it was 40 years ago) following complications from placenta previa and I'd really like to just get on a plane and tie my daughter to a bed for a few months.
To top it all, because of the early bleed they've kept the pregnancy secret except for me and my husband (both of the wider families would be soooo excited), so I can't talk to anyone about it - not even my close friends. My husband is as concerned as I am and we try not to get into too much discussion so as not to feed off each others worries, but I need a bit of hand holding at the same time as I am thrilled at the prospect of a new grandchild. We got the most recent scan pictures today and it was all I could do not to cry from a mix of excitement and deep concern.
