Newbie - I think it's meant to be placed on any surface or in a cot. Unfortunately I don't think it comes with a stand. I had a Moses basket with a stand and there was no way it was sturdy enough to not worry about my dog knocking it over.

Well DH and I have basically spent the whole weekend looking at travel systems. We eventually managed to narrow it down to two that were very different in price range. It seems that guilt wise, you're damned it you do and damned if you don't! If we get the cheap one, I feel guilty for not spending more on something that baby could potentially spend a lot of time in (especially utilising the carrycot for naps downstairs). If we buy the more expensive one, I feel guilty about "wasting" money when we could get a cheaper version that is almost as nice but just not as sleek or plush and not one of the famous brands. Is this a sign of things to come? Argh!!!

Chookford · 04/01/2015 18:19

wiggly welcome back, and congrats on the good scan news!

sun good luck to your dh tomorrow... It will be nice to have the place to yourself though, when I was pregnant with my dd and until just after she was born my dh worked abroad for 4 days a week.. And even though I missed him I did like my own space and had the right hump when he stopped doing that and came home every night! Grin

Tranquilitybaby · 04/01/2015 18:27

No it's just the pod newbie, it's designed to go in a cot or cotbed or for co sleeping. It's meant to create a similar feeking to the womb as newborns don't like space around them.

croon979 · 04/01/2015 19:20

Hi all, hope you are all ok!!
Have been interested to read the chat about cribs/snugglepods/prams - haven't bought a thing yet or even narrowed my selection down!

Am uber-excited today, am flying to Liverpool tomorrow (live in Isle of Man) with my mum for a couple of days of sales shopping and for my harmony/4d/gender scan! Really can't wait! Going to try and find some maternity bargains in sales, maternity clothes are scarce over here. Also looking forward to seeing some travel systems and of course the baby again! Argh, may not be able to sleep tonight I am that excited!!2 days of pure indulgence!!

I don't know if any of you June bugs live in or near liverpool but any recommendations for baby shops/maternity shops then would be grateful for a point in the right direction - thanks!

Can't remember if this has already been done, but has anyone started leaking milk already?! I was 18 weeks yesterday, and today I noticed one of my nipples looked a bit wet. I squeezed both and a little bit of clear (I'm guessing colostrum?) came out of each. Isn't this a bit early?

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 04/01/2015 19:46

I read all the posts earlier and then did something else for an hour so apologies if this makes no sense as I've misremembered something!!

Wrt travel systems etc, we were warned off icandy by the independent store we went to (even though I liked it and they could have made more money out of us by doing the hard sell on dh). They said they often have problems with them and icandy as a company are difficult to deal with. We went with the uppababy partly because they said they hardly ever had problems with them, and on the occasions that they had uppababy were fantastic to deal with.

The other thing to bear in mind if you're in the countryside at all is what's actually in the wheels - foam filled ones don't puncture!

Wrt bassinets, if the bassinet can be used for overnight sleeping you may not need a separate Moses basket. As it turned out dd hated being pushed in the bassinet because of her reflux and we would have used it literally three times if we weren't using it overnight.

Here endeth the lesson Grin

I just picked up a bouncy chair for £4 on our local selling site, so when we've got a new bassinet mattress and a nappy or two, we're sorted. Grin Haha. That's what I'm telling myself anyway!!

May just look at the jojo sale though.............. Wink

WrappedInABlankie · 04/01/2015 19:51

So I had my gender scan today...

had HG with this baby my mum only had it with girls as did my DP's mum, I'm spotty and grumpy, Chinese gender chart said a girl and we had names for a girl and really thought we were having one but.....

It is a boy! Shocked completely we now have 24 weeks to think of a boys name that we like! Grin

wrapped congrats on your baby boy news!! Ha don't panic you have time to decide on a name!!

WrappedInABlankie · 04/01/2015 20:01

We got two colour 3D scans and about 15 b/w ones

I have to admit was a tad disappointed was looking forward to actually be able to have a vast selection of clothes our local Mothercare had 1/4 of the shop of baby clothes 1 block of 4 rails was boys the rest was girls about 10 blocks at least. Same with Asda 1 long shelf of boys 10 of girls :(

Buying for boys is so limited it's a shame but we're all very happy he's healthy had all 4 chambers and a good size brain!

WigglyBraddins · 04/01/2015 20:02

Sunbathing FX your house sale fits in nicely with your plans.

newbie6 · 04/01/2015 20:04

Thanks all! Think I will just stick to a Moses basket then as the one I used for DS seemed to with stand my 2 daft dogs ?? praying no 2 son will be as good as no 1 son though! X

Tryingreallyhard84 · 04/01/2015 20:05

Wrapped - lovely news! Exciting.

Pasbeaucoup - thanks for the insight 're the bassinet and well done on your bargain purchase!

To anyone who knows - 're 20 week NHS scans - do you get the option to get pics again or is that it til it makes its appearance in June?

WrappedInABlankie · 04/01/2015 20:19

In my hospital it's £10 for 4 £5 for 2 but you can get scans up till 24 weeks it say's

cuphat · 04/01/2015 20:22

Pas, we have had no problems at all with our icandy and we bought through John Lewis as they normally have good customer service if anything goes wrong. I'd really recommend icandys, they are so easy to steer compared to everything else we've tried (and we get lots of comments on this from people who have different brands). Ours has been worth every penny.

Glad your scan went well wiggly.

Congrats wrapped!

Tryingreallyhard84 · 04/01/2015 20:38

Wrapped - thanks for that. Hubs will be happy as he wanted another pic.

cuphat · 04/01/2015 20:43

I didn't see your question before, trying. Yes, they give you pictures at your 20 week scan. When I had a had a scan at 38 weeks due to breech baby they even gave me more then and for free!

You can ask for a picture at any scan, i have 1 from 8 weeks, 3 from 12 weeks and will get them at 20,28,32,36.... My hospital charges £5 per picture aswell.

Congrats on the baby boy! I'll update stats shortly! X

cuphat · 04/01/2015 22:13

We paid £3 for the 12/20 week scans and that was for a whole strip of photos.

cuphat · 04/01/2015 22:17

My DH also starts his new job. He'll be away most of this week and next week. I hate it when he's not at home but purely because I worry that if something bad happens we have no family or anyone in the area that could help out (if something happened to me what would happen to DD? etc).

jazzyjenbo · 04/01/2015 22:26

Just updated stats, we have afew ppl getting gender scans this week... Croon and belle..... Twinkle and detective, did u find out what you are having at your scans?

Our first 20 week scans start this week aswell... Good luck bazza, stopeating, twinkle, and anyone else having theres.

Boys are currently leading....8/5 with 11 team yellows x

WrappedInABlankie · 04/01/2015 22:27

Our hospital stops giving them out at 24 weeks I think as theirs "no point the image is poor quality due to their size"
