My skin has been rubbish this time too, terribly dry (it's itchy and dry within seconds of applying moisturiser, even something pretty heavy duty like E45 or epaderm) but also spotty! What's wi' that?!

Re birth plans - mine last time had some vague ideas about things I thought I'd like, such as low level lighting and the fact that I really wanted to avoid an epidural. Other than that I said I was easily worried so would like to be kept informed about what was happening and why. I also said (a LOT!!) that I would appreciate advice and support from the mws about what they thought was best. Personally I think this is a good ploy as it didn't mean they were pissed off with my demands before we'd even met! I would also recommend saying you're happy to have a student - they can't "do" anything without a fully trained person there, and in our case it meant we had someone with us the whole time and I was never left alone, which increased my confidence no end.

Happy new year when it comes guys, hope 2015 is a good year for us all and our on the way babies :)

AnythingNotEverything · 31/12/2014 22:30

So I'm in bed already. Such a lightweight had an hoir's nap this afternoon too!

I've been reading and keeping up over Christmas but not posting due to rubbish wifi at my in-laws. Can't even remember who I wanted to congratulate, but pleased for those of you who now know gender. I think well wait to find out, but it must be lovely to visualise a boy or girl and know that's what you're getting.

My skin has broken out this week. I'm not sure if I've just noticed it as I haven't had make up on much, but that same happened when I as pregnant with DD. Maybe this is a girl after all ... Was thinking boy until this.

I have to go for my quad blood test on Friday. Someone else was having this too I think? At least it'll keep me away from work for a couple of hours ...

Anyway, wishing you all a happy new year. And what a year it's going to be?!

Aww welcome to team pink Sun, lovely news!

Glad your appointments went well girls.

Happy New Year lovely June bugs - this is our year!! X

htf2 · 01/01/2015 01:23

Happy new year all! Some good birth plan advice
pasbeaucoup I hadn't thought of putting that kind of thing in. We have to start taking photos of bump- but some evenings it is huge and it's all bloat and I don't want that to be recorded as my bump until it is actually baby!

Thelovecats · 01/01/2015 08:48

I didn't have a birth plan either time. I was never in a position where I couldn't consent to something as and when, for example I had a student at my first birth but they just asked me at the time. Ditto pain relief, vit k and cutting cord etc.
I think if you do have strong views about something then the best person to drum it into is your birth partner. The most important thing I told him to say was not to give a formula top up at any point after birth. I was quite out of it the first time afterwards and I would have been gutted if they had done this.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 01/01/2015 09:03

Happy New year my lovelies. Grin

I'm the only one awake in my house. Had people round and a few stayed over. Poor puss is very put out. It was a lovely night. Latest I've stayed up in a long time and the first time in ages I've actually seen midnight on new years.

Bump felt massive last night but it must have been a food baby as it feels better today. Bloomin carbs and fizzy drinks.

Zaccheryquack · 01/01/2015 09:27

Happy New Year! We were in bed by 10pm (first time I have missed midnight) but dh, dd and I were up watching neighbours fireworks at just after 12 so did manage some bleary eyed New Years kisses when they woke us all up! Off to the zoo this morning - it may just be us there I think! Really lovely to start hearing that you know about whether you are having a girl or boy. We will find out on the 20th all being well! Secretly have a preference this time but think I will be delighted with any baby as long as they are healthy!! Will post about birth plan later....

Jackiebrambles · 01/01/2015 10:39

Happy new year ladies!

I was up til nearly 2am! We had friends over and cooked. Food went down well so pleased about that.

Everyone else is suffering this morning so I cooked them all a fry up! It is so nice not to be hungover on new years day, I remember this last time I was pregnant.

I'm actually feeling really good, no sickness for over a week, got lots of energy etc. perhaps this is finally the sweet spot!

I did stupidly Google low lying anterior placenta and placenta accreta last night though, but the stats are very much in favour of my low placenta shifting upwards so trying to focus on that. Plus, not a lot I can do about it anyway!

Jackiebrambles · 01/01/2015 10:42

I had a birth plan last time but I don't think anyone really read it. Maybe my first set of midwives during labour but then their shift had finished by the time i had the emcs so we had to answer the questions about vit k and cord cutting anyway.

I'll write one again anyway!

ots · 01/01/2015 11:10

Happy new year ladies.

I managed to see in the new year just! Then his morning my poorly dd has projectile Vomited all over the house twice! The joys Sad

My both plan was very vague just go with the flow and see how it goes... I did state I wanted to use the birthing pool though and glad I did it helped me immensely!!

Orville82 · 01/01/2015 13:32

Happy New Year ladies! We had a lovely evening at my best friend's house with about a dozen others and I managed to stay awake until after 2am. Result!

Have to tell you this though as I'm sworn to secrecy with anyone we "know" and I'm bursting. Poor DH went to work this morning and I got a frantic phonecall 40 mins later telling me he'd needed the loo on the way to work but hadn't made it and had shat himself! Literally pooed his pants and trousers. The poor guy is now on our sofa under a blanket (after having showered and changed). The whole upstairs smells like shit where he took his clothes off and left them on the bathroom floor for 10 mins while he had a shower. With my bloodhound nose I've gone into full on retching, eye watering mode so he had to disinfect the bathroom and car. I've gone out and bought extra loo roll, Imodium & Dioralite and cream of chicken soup for lunch. He didn't even bring it on himself as he stopped drinking at 10.30pm! Now I know this would be anything but funny if it was me, but I find this absolutely HILARIOUS! I'm a bad person......

Chookford · 01/01/2015 13:42

orville this happened to my husband last year!! And I still laugh about it now!! Unfortunately for him our dd was in the car too so he could never hide it!! Grin I'm a bad person too don't worry!!!

Tranquilitybaby · 01/01/2015 14:38

Oh bless him, what a shitty thing to happen! Wink

Don't give him cream of chicken soup though, anything dairy could start it off again x

htf2 · 01/01/2015 16:08

Oh dear! :D umm TMI but that actually happened to me on one of my worst weeks- I was just sick all the time with frequent diarrhoea and Monday morning before work... Fortunately dh was still home and helped me out of my pants into shower, washed my clothes so I didn't have to be sick thinking about them... Then I staggered off to work- looking back I don't know how I got to work at all that week. Did spend quite a bit of that day being paranoid in the bathrooms and left early, not very productive. DH didn't tell anyone either, was absolutely wonderful about it all...
