We started preparing DD, 3, about 6m ago that 'one day' she might be a big sister. Now she knows mummy is growing a baby that will be a little brother or sister for her. She is delighted but has some ambitious plans for it!

Apart from our gym there's nowhere like that near us Elizabeth, it would be well received I expect. Good luck.

Such sad news in the May group Sad

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 29/12/2014 23:51

I have a friend in the January thread and there is sad news on there too, she didn't tell me much detail but it appears that the baby was near due date.
As a first time mummy, a lot of the news I am finding quite scary, as I knew the first 12 weeks were nerve wrecking but I naively didn't realise that there are all these problems and heartbreaks that can occur at any time even when right near the end.

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 29/12/2014 23:58

cuphat *chatEnoeuf" it's only in business plan stage but looking at potential places as would ideally would like to have a "one stop shop" type place: lovely cafe, small crèche, baby/childrens items on sale, maybe a space for mum/baby groups to meet. I have done a lot of research amongst existing friends with children and their number one grudge is having no where suitable cafe wise to take babies and children (it's either a soft play centre or a stuffy cafe, no happy medium). I mean to be honest packing up a house, moving house and having a baby in space of 6 months isn't enough of a challenge so thought why not throw in a new business too lol.

BingoBonkers · 30/12/2014 03:54

orville that's a brilliant scan! Reminds me of Dc2 (I think!) at the scan. Looked like skeletor popping in and out of focus. Really spooky but eerily funny too!

Jackiebrambles · 30/12/2014 08:23

Orville I love your scan pic, it's ace!

Morning all, I loved those Lansinoh breast pads last time too - I didn't leak loads but def in the first few months so they were needed. Then it just stopped so I've got a few left.

I had an emcs last time but still had lochia bleeding for ages!! Was still using panty liners at 11 weeks pp I think which I worried a bit about but it was all fine.

I remebered yesterday about the best hospital bag tip I got off mumsnet. Buying a pack of M&S massive black 'armpit warmer' pants! Perfect for after baby when you're wearing pads and need max comfort. Plus they come up so high they avoid csection scar/wound area.

Really sorry for the may lady. So many things to worry about and then they arrive and you worry about cot death and feeding etc!

Got to go to the placenta clinic tomorrow, not sure what will happen but I imagine another scan so at least I'll see baby again. DH going to stay with DS at home so I'll be going alone.

Tranquilitybaby · 30/12/2014 09:20

Reading about the poor May lady yesterday has made me feel very anxious again. Worried there's something wrong, sounds irrational but I can't help it. My heart goes out to her.

When your fluttering started, especially if quite early, how often did you get them? I'm 15+1 but getting the odd flicker on the left side here and there. Wish it would start happening more often as reassurance. Last time I felt it was yesterday morning.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 30/12/2014 09:24

Orville - great pics. I love the face plant in your stomach one! Grin

Elizabeth - great idea! I hope it comes together for you. On your other point, I'm the same and rather niaively believed all would be well after 12 weeks. In fact, before I was pregnant I thought the 20 week scan was just to tell the gender. Blush

Tori - bet you can't wait for that leave to start. Less than 3 months. I'm hoping to take my leave at the beginning as well. I want a nice clean cut between audits rather than having to hand one off half done.

Jackie - I read about the big pants thing as well. All these glorious tips are being saved.

Chookford · 30/12/2014 11:21

tranquility I feel the same way now, I have an appointment to see the ante natal consultant today re my Graves' disease and I'm shitting it incase something has gone wrong! I really don't like felling this way... I was so innocent first time round Sad

Re movement mine started at about 13+ 5 ish and would be every few days or so, on the left hand side too...don't worry regular moment is not expected until much later on..

StopEatingThatMud · 30/12/2014 12:18

Hope your appoint goes well chookford I feel the same, although I wasn't totally innocent first time round (my mum suffered a stillbirth after me and lost a baby shortly after birth before me so I always had a slight niggle in the back of my mind until she was actually here) I was much more of the 'everything will be fine' attitude. I just can't seem to get that back this time round.

I woke up at 1.30am last night with excruciating stomach cramps followed not long after by D&V. It was awful and I have to say the pains were scary as I was struggling to identify exactly where it was that was hurting. I think I gave DP a fright too, although I've heard nothing from him since he left for work at 7.30am Hmm just had a lovely bath with DD and contemplating whether to attempt some lunch.

jazzyjenbo · 30/12/2014 12:24

It is heartbreaking isnt it hearing about these later losses...
I was on the aug 14 thread when i had my mmc, i stayed on the fb group quietly to see how they all got on and one by one they announced they were in labour.., then one day a girl announced her labour, everyone was wishing her luck when see came on and said there was no heartbeat... She was 40+weeks... Another friend lost at 36 weeks... But on the other side i have had friends who have had very early babies who have lived.

I think we just all need to stay optimistic but think about what and how we would cope if something was discovered at 20 weeks.

In the grand scheme these things are rare but still devastating when they happen.

In other news i'm feeling definite movement now (finally) on the countdown to my 20 week scan now on 12th aswell x

Tranquilitybaby · 30/12/2014 12:37

It's very unnerving isn't it chookford, it's really got me down today. Need to pick my socks up again and be positive.

Hope you're feeling a bit better now stop.

Jazzy so much sadness, you just never know what's round the corner.

hello all, so sad to read the May thread :(. Agree that you can only just be thankful for each day as it arrives.

I am feeling horribly anxious actually as I don't seem to have much of a bump, I just look a bit fat - plus point, am still in my jeans and all my usual clothes in fact! Also, I have not felt any movements yet. I am 17 weeks exactly today. I was quite worried last night wodnering if i was still pregnant. However, bizarrely this morning I randomly retched and felt sick so i am hoping that that is my little bean trying to reassure me that all is still ok. Very thankful that I have booked a harmony/3D scan for 6th January as I think that otherwise the wait until my 20 week anomaly scan on 22 January would be excrutiating, particularly if I am still not feeling movements. It is my first and i am aware that some don't feel anything until as late as 25 weeks. I would oh so love to feel a little wriggle soon.

Hope everyone is taking care and keeping well.

ots · 30/12/2014 14:16

I'm now on the countdown til my 20 week scan too. 19th Jan so not long now. And we move house on the 17th so will have an exciting week. I feel nervous about the scan, but not on the same level as before my 12 week scan.

Hope everyone is doing ok Smile

jazzyjenbo · 30/12/2014 16:28

Has anyone got any experience of the NIFTY test or a cvs after getting high risk at 12 week scan? A friend has got 1/82 downs and 1/38 edwards.

Thelovecats · 30/12/2014 16:47

All well at my appt. the doctor was quite dismissive that I could have felt movements this early last time. He said not until 18 weeks. I think I was that first time but def earlier second time. Anyway, heard the Hb and I'm low risk so he said I could have a homebirth if I want. I am seriously considering it.

Croon are you going across for a scan? I was considering a 4d scan, but won't be going to uk until end of March so will be nearly 30 weeks. Has anyone had a 4d scan at that stage and got a good view? Worried baby will look squashed!

Chookford · 30/12/2014 17:17

Thanks everyone, appointment was a waste of time really just writing in my maternity notes and they are doing the same job as my thyroid consultant.. So a bit Hmm as to why I'm seeing two different consultants for the same thing!!

jazzy the nifty test and harmony are basically the same thing.. I had the harmony rest after a high risk result after my 12wk scan I had a 1/89 chance of downs, harmony confirmed no chromosomal defects are present and my results then changed to 1/10,000 scary time but glad I know baby is ok.. Those odds are still good for your friend even though she won't feel that way at the moment... Really hope she gets the same positive results I did

jazzyjenbo · 30/12/2014 17:34

She is booked to hav cvs nxt week, i'm not sure she knew about harmony etc so i mentioned it, not knowing anything about it myself really... Is there a main website/centre that does it etc. i'd appreciate any info, even if could pm me... We ment on a mmc board then became friends so really sorry shes now got this in her subsequent pregnancy x

jazzyjenbo · 30/12/2014 18:01

Epic trip north starting now (dover-manchester) speak again tomorrow x

Chookford · 30/12/2014 18:06

No problem jazzy will pm you later on

croon979 · 30/12/2014 19:58

Hey Lovecats - yes I am in Liverpool on 5th / 6th Jan so taking opportunity to have an extra scan. It will be my only opportunity to do it. I will be 18 weeks exactly. Not sure about 3d scan myself but it comes as part of the harmony/gender package so going to give it a go. You have made me feel a bit better about not feeling any flutters yet, thanks!

croon979 · 30/12/2014 19:59

Sorry that should have said 4d not 3d

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 30/12/2014 20:03

I had my 12 wk scan (which was actually at 13wks) and they said they would let me know the results, if bad news it would be a phone call, otherwise they would send in post, not had any news so far.
