Orville, glad the scan went well, i will check on to my laptop tonight to see your scan pic... Yay back to a junebug!

So sad reading that news on the may thread. My thoughts are with her and her family x

iwantkhaleesiseyebrows · 29/12/2014 18:32

Hi ladies

Haven't been on here for a while. Hope everyone had good Christmas.

So sad to hear about May thread. I lost my first DC due to fatal abnormalities picked up at 20 week scan so unfortunately know only too well from personal experience that things can go wrong and how truly devastating it is. Having said that you have to remember how rare it is and how most woman do bring home a healthy baby. Got to keep positive and take each day as it comes.

Pleased to hear about the scan Orville.

I've just had 16 week scan (due to history)- all looking good for this stage Smile also saw consultant and delivery plan discussed. Will be having ELCS - they'll only do it at 39 weeks so hoping I don't go into labour early like I did with DC2.

Sorry I'm a bit late on this topic but I had a cold water steriliser and loved it. Will definitely be using again this time - so so so much more practical than microwave or electric ime.

PerpetualStudent · 29/12/2014 18:43

Wow, how devastating.

Anyone else now counting down to their 20 week scan? Mine's on 13th Jan & starting to feel quite nervous about it... DP definitely can't come with me, which I'm quite gutted about. I have a close friend coming instead, but feel sad he'll miss it & worried how I/my friend will cope if there's any sad news...

traceybaybee · 29/12/2014 18:52

I got a shot of my friends doppler tonight so going to get a battery for it tomorrow and see how i go with it

cuphat · 29/12/2014 19:21

Mines on the 12th perpetual, and I'm nervous too.

Have just found out that having changed the scan date DH still won't be able to come! We have no one in the area to look after DD (children aren't allowed) but had managed to arrange for family to travel and look after her. However they have just had to pull out so DH will now have to look after her instead of coming to the scan.

When I was younger there were places where my mum could drop me off while she shopped etc for a few hours; I've looked but can't find anything like that now. Upset for reasons mentioned before. It seems to be regular nursery or places where you have to stay only. I've no idea what we would do in an emergency.

Great news on the scan Orville.

So sad about the lady on the May thread :( It's heartbreaking at any time but obviously the later it gets the worse it seems. I really am trying to relax and tell myself everything will be fine, but can't help but worry, especially after a previous loss.

Speaking of which, today would have been the due date of the baby we lost in May. DH and I lit a candle tonight and this Christmas, we bought an angel decoration for the tree. It helps to have just a small token to remember the baby by.

Baby has been moving lots. I'm 17+2 now and the movements seem to be getting stronger, but still no regular pattern to them. Is it too early for DH to feel them? With DS he felt him from about 20ish weeks, but he's sure he felt it earlier when he had his hand on my bump. Bump is getting big now. Have attached a photo.

Hope everyone has had a good Christmas. DH is over his stomach bug now so going to cook another Christmas dinner tomorrow as he didn't get to enjoy it on Christmas day. DS is very excited about the prospect of more Christmas crackers haha!

Cuphat odd that you mention "drop in" type crèches as I ve noticed in my local area there are no children/mum friendly cafes or even any crèches or nuseries where children can be left for short amounts of time. So, we ve been putting together a business plan to do one in my local town, obviously would work in well once I have te baby in June as I could work and take baby there with me. OH is a Michelin quality chef so the food side of things would be easy, especially as we are firm believers of good old-fashioned healthy food (my home made healthy version of a Pot Noodle is a firm favourite in my house).
20wk scan booked for 10th Feb, feels ages away, but flu jab tomorrow which not looking forward to, I hate needles.
I am wanting to start buying things, but as it's my first (OH has a 5 year old girl from a previous relationship) I will hold off until at least February time, as by then we may been needing to pack up the house for a new owner.

Quick question for those of you who already have a DC... Have you told them they're going to have a sibling yet?

We are thinking of telling DD tomorrow - she's 3.5 years. I'm not sure whether we should wait a bit longer. I wanted to wait until 20 weeks but bump suddenly popped and I want her to find out from us rather than anyone else (still only told parents but it will soon be blindingly obvious to all and sundry).

For this worrying about movements I'm still not feeling anything (16+1) - I definitely felt DD by this stage. On today's scan I could see this baby kicking away but couldn't feel a thing. I'm surprised - I'm quite petite and placenta posterior (was anterior last time).

Oh I also have a low lying placenta. Trying to refrain from google...

iwantkhaleesiseyebrows · 29/12/2014 21:01

Those not this

Thelovecats · 29/12/2014 21:04

iwant we told our 5 year old at 13 weeks, he was excited. Once adults around knew someone was bound to say something to him or in front of him so we thought best to just say.
I am 15+4 and worrying that I am not feeling movements yet. I posted on the pregnancy board about it. I definitely felt proper movements last time but this stage, and like you my placenta was anterior last time and posterior this time. Got my 16 week appt tomorrow so hoping for reassurance.

iwantkhaleesiseyebrows · 29/12/2014 21:12

Thelovecats - thank you. That's exactly what we are now thinking. Would be awful for someone to let slip.

It's strange isn't it re movements. I was convinced I would feel this one earlier but it's definitely not the case at all. Midwife sonographer said very unusual to feel this early. Hopefully tomorrow will offer you reassurance.

jazzyjenbo · 29/12/2014 21:14

Iwant - we havt told our kids yet - ds 4, dd 2.... purely because I don't want them blabbing to the parents of the children I childmind for, as they are then likely to find alternative childcare before I am ready to start my coule of months leave. We are however planting the idea of a new baby...' how would u like a baby t come and live with us one day?'....'would you 2 like to share a room' etc etc

ots - coming to our due date in august was hard for our little lost baby and we recently passed our 'bfp' day.... 20th jan will be hard but I have my 20 week scan on the 12th so mite announce the gender on the 20th to my friends.

orville - we had a skull and crossbones type scan with dd, they are abit weird to look at arnt they.

I am feeling very pleased tonight as I am 90% certain I have felt baby movements today. Grin I am 17 weeks exactly which is so weird as I felt dd at exactly 17 weeks too. I had the same sensation, and the same "almost certainty". It just feels different from all the other gurglings!

Am a bit more relaxed about my mw appt on Weds now Smile

Tranquilitybaby · 29/12/2014 22:37

Hugs to you ots, due dates are hard to deal with, but lovely what you did to remember. Looking fab in your photo by the way.

Lovely clear scan pics Orville!

The poor lady in the May thread, my heart goes out to her. Flowers

I've got my 16 weeks mw appt on 6/1, the 20 week scan in 4/2.

JennyOfOldstones · 29/12/2014 22:38

orville I love your demon baby pic it is so cool! I want one!

Tranquilitybaby · 29/12/2014 22:43

cuphat · 29/12/2014 22:57

Elizabeth your business plan sounds great; there is a real gap in the market as there seems to be literally nowhere here that I could leave DD as a one-off for a short space of time. Good luck with it.

We've been discussing pushchairs. We're going to sell our icandy strawberry (which we love love love) and get the icandy peach blossom 3 as DD will be just turning 2 when DS is born and will still need a pushchair. But we'll get it nearer the time.

Iwant, we've told DD but she's only 18 months. She knows there's a baby in my tummy and keeps trying to have a peek and pointing to it and saying baby but she won't fully understand what it involves (as with any child I guess) until baby is born! Although we've been reading books which might give her a bit of an idea.

cuphat · 29/12/2014 23:00

Thanks tranquility. I would say to people not to go overboard on the amount that they buy as I bought a box of 60 of those last time and didn't use even 1. I bf for 17 months but didn't leak at all!

Same as for maternity pads. I bought loads in advance last time as I'd read horror stories about how much you bleed afterwards but I had barely anything and used hardly any! Though I had an ELCS and I think they had a good clear-out while they were there!

Thelovecats · 29/12/2014 23:10

I think I'll try washable/reusable breast pads this time, though i didn't really leak beyond 12 weeks.

Re bleeding, I had nearly 7 weeks of proper bleeding both times so I needed the maternity pads!

About crèches , the only place I can think of where you leave your child as a one off is the ones at IKEA, think they are from 3 upwards.

Tranquilitybaby · 29/12/2014 23:29

I leak lots so bought lots lol! But 60 are only £3.66 on there too.
