New thread, as the other one was nearly full! Can someone please post the stats page, as I'm useless with things like that!

Ooh I tried to use cloth nappies with DS but only had one pack of hand-me-downs and they always leaked when I used them. Very tempted to try again as I did borrow some from a cloth nappy library that worked much better, but we don't have a tumble drier so I'm guessing it's not the best idea... ok for summer maybe.

Hurray for all the good scans and fingers crossed for all those coming up too! Pipbin fingers crossed for Tuesday, not long to wait now, hope you have a nice weekend planned to distract you.

I have just got my scan date in the post (the midwife only sent off the request on Wednesday, that is efficient!) - it's first thing on Christmas Eve! Perfect timing as DH and I already have the day off and MIL will be here to look after DS so I am really chuffed. Could put rather a downer on Christmas if it's not good news but I'm ignoring that possibility for now!

Actually I am having a great day, yesterday I felt terrible all day and burst into tears when DH got home as I just couldn't cope with feeling so crappy all the time, shouting at DS constantly etc. etc. Well today, apart from losing my breakfast pretty dramatically, I have felt soo much better. I went to my work Christmas meal this afternoon and managed to eat properly for the first time in weeks, didn't feel too exhausted, then got home to find my scan date had arrived. It's encouraging to read about those who are at the 11 week mark and feeling better, I am at 10 weeks or so now so hoping that this good day is the start of general easing of sickness and exhaustion (wow I am optimistic today).

Ceejay14 · 12/12/2014 21:42

Good luck to all with scans coming up!
We had a private scan at the weekend and all good, heartbeat doing what it should. DH has now started telling all his friends, impossible to reel him back in!

I had my Christmas party on weds and was quizzed by my boss about why I wasn't drinking. Didn't confirm anything but know she has guessed as she started asking me if I'll be drinking at another event we're both going to next week. She didn't look impressed Hmm

BadIdeaBear · 12/12/2014 22:22

Great news re all the scans today and thanks for new thread!

Full on day at work today but was awesomely successful so felt really buzzy till the adrenalin faded and then I was knackered! On sofa under blanket after managing half a curry.

DH says I'm showing. Still not sure if it's just wind, though. I think probably so. MIL coming for weekend tomorrow and don't want to tell her yet but DH reckons she'll just know...

Lots of really useful tips for newbies on stuff to invest in on this thread - thanks!

Number3cometome · 13/12/2014 07:13

Zampa woohoo! Mine was 164bpm so very similar.

I was just so happy to see my kidney bean. My next scan is the 15th of Jan which seems AGES AWAY now. I heard you can hear the heart beat with the Doppler from 9 seems browses Doppler ranges

Zampa · 13/12/2014 08:26

Number Seeing the little heart fluttering is awesome, isn't it!

NotPennysBoat · 13/12/2014 08:30

Marking place! This is DC2 for us but we had quite a few things loaned to us last time which we've since returned, so need to find a Moses basket and couple of other things. The big expenses are all in the loft though (cot, buggy/pram, car seat) so we'll probably wait until later on before buying.

I had a scan last week and saw heartbeat and all looks about right for dates (was actually an ultrasound for something else but the radiographer kindly let me have a little look at baby but didn't do any detailed checks/measurements). Feels like another milestone reached but still anxious because I saw a hb last time and still mc 2 wks later. Every day is another step closer and I am crossing them off!

9+1 (216 days to go!)

NotPennysBoat · 13/12/2014 08:36

Oo forgot to mention - for anyone buying/borrowing cots/cribs/Moses baskets and needing mattresses - I can highly recommend babymattressesonline.co.uk. They can make a mattress any size, you can buy extra covers (which are not cheap & plasticy) and they deliver to your door - good quality and value too!

Toastandmarmiteallday · 13/12/2014 08:58

Lovely to hear all the scan news and making me very excited for ours on 7 Jan! When some of us get to 12 week scan pics would you mind uploading - as not sure what to expect (first baby) and would like to be prepared as to what we will (hopefully) see.

Thanks also for the advice for newbies as to what to buy- please keep it comingSmile

Don't know what I'd do without these threads- has made the whole process so far a lot more reassuring - thanks ladies!

9 + 4

Leela5 · 13/12/2014 09:36

Morning

Still feeling very scared that my symptoms have gone. Still getting up 5 times a night to wee but not half as bloated as I was, nausea has gone and boobs not sore :(. Have mw on monday and scan on wed.

Bustherb · 13/12/2014 09:41

Thanks purple, feeling lots better but I think it's because I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and everything's starting to calm down Wink leela I wouldn't worry everyone is totally different, how many weeks are you?xx

Leela5 · 13/12/2014 09:43

Sorry I'm 9+1 but it's possible I'm further as need to be dated

Bustherb · 13/12/2014 09:45

I read somewhere that the placenta starts taking over at around 10 weeks and you start to feel better from then on. That could be the reason? I know I've had really rough days and really good days so I wouldn't worry at all Grin xxx

ScaryMartian · 13/12/2014 10:59

Hello, may I join? I've been lurking a bit but didn't want to tempt fate by joining too soon!

I'm 8+1 with dc2 due 24th July. Ds is 2.

Feeling pretty rough with constant nausea/hunger/exhaustion. Had no pregnancy symptoms whatsoever with ds so I feel I'm being punished this time around for it being so easy last time!

Despite the symptoms I still can't shake a feeling of doom/anxiety so I'm not letting myself get too excited until I actually see something on a scan which won't be until beginning of Jan.

misseskimo · 13/12/2014 11:36

Marking my place. Thanks for new thread fatty

I'm still feeling rough, will be a week tomorrow of basically living in bed, and I'm so fed up. I also got told about placenta taking over around week 10,and apparently week 9 and 10 is usually the worst because of this. So hopefully not much longer!

Buying wise, I'm so torn! I'd like to start buying when I see good deals such as jan sales but am so worried I'll jinx something by stocking up too soon... Most of my friends with kids didn't buy until final trimester. The only thing I have is two moses baskets which I bought 2yrs ago on eBay for £6.50 (for both) for a friend who then decided she wanted brand new, and I never got around to reselling them. The seller had 6m old twins who both refused to sleep in them from birth so he gave up and sold them, so their virtually brand new. And upon googling the tag name, their usually £35 each so I think I got a bargain really! I've also seen a Tommy tippee set of bottles/steriliser etc. Half price in BRU which I'm seriously tempted by, but think it's far too early Confused my scan isn't till 30th which I've now realised will mean I'll miss boxing day sales too.

9+6

WantToGoingTo · 13/12/2014 12:16

scary welcome, we are due date buddies! Am also 8+1 first mw appt and first scan on Thursday Grin

Left DH to browse mamas and papas today while I went shopping. He thinks all baby furniture is badly made Hmm but liked the most expensive high chair in the shop? He also couldn't get his head around travel systems haha. We won't start buying til new year if an when we see bargains :) though DH already trying hard to resist offers on freecycle! mainly because I want to use freecycle as absolute lat resort if we can't afford new whereas he loves a bargain especially when it's free

ScaryMartian · 13/12/2014 12:25

Hi want. Smile I also have my first mw appt on thurs. Wish I also had a scan!

I keep thinking I could just self refer to the epu with something just to get checked but would feel too guilty for using the resources instead of women who are getting worrying symptoms. I just need to get on with it and wait it out till Jan!

We have mamas and papas furniture for ds, it's really good quality.

There is a lot to be said for buying second hand though- a couple of my friends got some great furniture sets for a fraction of the new price on eBay so it's worth looking around. Also, ikea do nice stuff too!

fattycow · 13/12/2014 12:59

As requested, here is a scan pic of my 12 weeks scan (which was at 10+6).

scary my mum is an ob-gyn so she is gettin one of her colleagues to have a sneaky look Wink I asked my mum though and hoapitals get paid per maternity pathway, regardless of number of scans etc, they will get pai same amount for high risk or who has loads of scans as a low risk who only has the 12w and 20w ones so I don't feel bad anymore! To begin with like you thought might be waste of resources but apparently not! :)

WantToGoingTo · 13/12/2014 13:12

Ah fatty that is a proper bubba!

Threeplus1 · 13/12/2014 13:13

Lovely pic fatty Grin

They seem to be very efficient over here as I got a call yesterday from the midwives clinic with a date for my 20 week scan of feb 16th! I haven't even had my first yet which is in 29th dec. I don't mind though as it makes me feel like things are moving along and that 20 weeks isn't all that far away iyswim

naty1 · 13/12/2014 14:27

Really Annoyed ive got my scan letter - for 13th jan when ill be 14 weeks or 14+1 the letter says 11+2 to 14+1 weeks. So the very last day and bound to be less accurate or even too late if baby is more developed.
As its the weekend i cant even call to reject and get another date, though i assume this is the earliest available. Ridiculous! I mean if i hadnt been able to make the date, what would i then be offered as thats outside the range.
Due to several issues i cant have a last minute one - they very nearly didnt get blood last time, nor the measurement as the baby was lying awkwardly.

Bustherb · 13/12/2014 14:58

Fatty how do you see the pic while on the app??

48 hours or sick free for me Grin it's like my body has decided it's given me too much of a hard time Wink xx

Orville82 · 13/12/2014 15:08

Hello ladies. Can I come and play? I've been a member of the June thread for a number of weeks but after my scan yesterday, was put back 9 whole days to July 2nd so am 11+2 today. As baby was "younger" than they thought. The good news is I get an extra scan on the 29th so they can be a bit more accurate in their checks, nuchal measurements etc.

Told my little brother and his pregnant wife last night. Was nervous of their reaction as they're having the first grandchild but their reaction was amazing! Less than 5 weeks between us too so very exciting. Can't wait to tell my parents on Monday - they'll have the shock of their lives!

Thepurplegiraffe · 13/12/2014 16:15

Welcome Orville, there is 5 weeks between my first dd and her cousin and it is absolutely amazing.

Sorry about your scan Naty, that is ridiculous, really hope you can get something earlier.

We paid for an early scan today as I was so scared after my mc and we have a heart beat! It is measuring 10 +2 so a few days ahead of my 9 +4 but I was expecting that as I have short cycles. So relieved, I know it is still early days but feeling more hopeful.

Pipbin · 13/12/2014 16:25

I've just shown my scan picture to my aunt who is a very experienced sonographer. She said that everything was in the right place and the clinic are just being over cautious.
