We were getting perilously close to being full up, hope no one minds!

cinnamongreyhound · 08/12/2014 22:08

I lead a canicross run tonight, which was quite scary as I've only met the people twice before and none of them had run in the dark before but enjoyed it. Then went to my mums to meet my boys who'd been there for tea and see my godmother who fell out with my mum 11 years ago so I haven't seen her for all that time, feeling quite emotional now!!

Zahrah5 · 08/12/2014 22:09

Good evening everyone

Feeling a bit under with starting sore throat.

We have a 20 weeks scan tomorrow, so hoping to see my beautiful baby. It is great to be in this phase of pregnancy when we can feel them wiggling, it is so reassuring.:-)

Anyone has any tips where to get maternity tights? Im looking for thicker cotton ones for winter. I see Mother care has it but expensive and they didnt have my size anyway.

smogsville · 08/12/2014 22:15

Have you tried Asos?

Try some hot honey lemon and ginger for the throat it might not actually help but it might cheer you up a bit.

Siarie · 09/12/2014 01:55

I found that when little one is lying transverse I can feel her like crazy. She's swung round now though, so can't feel her quite as much and my bump has shrunk slightly (it went huge yesterday).

Still a week and a bit until my scan, I think I'll be one of the last due to my holiday timing.

TinyTear · 09/12/2014 08:24

ha Lauren, my DH also says he doesn't like maternity wear...

Hidingthefear · 09/12/2014 08:50

I just about done battling this cold I had for nearly 2 weeks. I had halls soothers for my throat and airwaves chewing gum for my blocked nose. Steamy showers to clear my nose and make sinuses feel better and some eucalyptus oil on a tissue.
surprising the things you'll come up with when the usual remedies are off the menu!
DH is filled up on Beechams because obviously his cold is the flu even though he caught it from me!

TinyTear · 09/12/2014 09:07

Try Sterimar saltwater nasal wash... does help clear up the nose a bit...

IvegotaCaveTroll · 09/12/2014 10:21

Not posted for ages- doing lots of extra locum shifts at work while I can. It has been annoying actually as we were promised a certain amount for on calls and after I had done three (which were supposed to be from home but I ended up in the hospital for 24 hours for one) theyy said they would only pay us half the rate!
So now waiting for either the consultant to sort it or il get my union involved- very annoying.

Anyway good to hear everyone scan news- cannot believe we are half way. Had mine on Friday and it a girl!!
We have also got our pram - donna Wilson urbo. This ones for town/pavement use as we r being given another one for dog walking etc. we also bought our nursing chair but actually it's a chez long (no idea how it's spelt) it's bright patchwork so it looks v cool in the nursery but probably not the most sensible of purchases since it's velvet so don't no how il clean any baby fluids off it!! Il blame that buy on pregnancy hormones!

Having a day off work for stupid back and pelvic pain- anyone else find it uncomfortable when baby shifts round?
I've hardly got a bump so it's really odd there's something wiggling in there!!

Anyway well done everyone for coping this far! I know pregnancy is natural but I find it bloody hard so we deserve a well done!!

TinyTear · 09/12/2014 10:23

we have velvet chairs (pre-baby) which we cover with washable throws... it will be a momentous day when we can remove the throws and hope they will stay nice and velvety Grin

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 09/12/2014 10:32

if you are buying from H&M, don't internet order if you need the stuf urgently... my order from a week ago still isn't here....

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 09/12/2014 10:32

*stuff

smogsville · 09/12/2014 10:47

Noted re H&M - thanks.

Yes to back pain Ivegota. Sitting here at work it's lower back pain I am going to buy a hot water bottle to use here as it's only when I'm sitting down.

Got my exercise class later which should help.

LadyNovember · 09/12/2014 11:16

Also getting the lower back pain already..was expecting it later but not this early on! I keep waking on my back though and suspect that's contributing!

Been into the doctors this morning RE B12 situation, I'm to have an injection 3 times a week for 2 weeks, then a review. Good job I don't have a needle phobia ha

Morning everyone, I keep reading this thread and it feels wrong being all cloak and dagger :) I joined this thread a few months ago but left because at 41 (first baby) I'm the oldest on here eek!! and didn't want to freak you out/bore you all with takes of my high risk pregnancy :) so I keep hovering in the shadows. Hope you don't mind me lurking but some of your tips/discussions are really useful.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 09/12/2014 12:06

I'm 40, you're not the oldest by much, Inshock

and you're not the only high risk one here either...

I do love it when they describe me as "of advanced maternal age".. makes me feel about 85!

BananaToast · 09/12/2014 12:08

No need to hide away Inshock - as Ebwy says there are others in their 40s around and others have various issues making their pregnancies high risk.

Lauren82000 · 09/12/2014 12:08

Yup back ache has been here for quite a while, right from the off set pretty much. The main thing I'm struggling with at the moment is tiredness I'm so tired all the time. I wasn't this bad last time so I think it's working full time and then going home, cooking tea and any other household jobs before I lose my momentum then I crash in bed once DD has gone down. So I'm in bed by 7.30-8.00 every night I've barely seen DH at all.

DH has been slightly more helpful but not by much we swapped bed for wake up yesterday because he wanted to play online with his friends at DDs bedtime and he washed up our tea things last night.

The ironing basket is horrendous I'm surprised any of us have any clothes left upstairs but I just can't face it so it's just going to get worse. Hmm

Inshock73 · 09/12/2014 12:14

Thank you so much :)

Ebwy I have "High risk - maternal age" highlighted on my notes. Now I've been told I'm also in a high risk group for pre-eclampsia my age seems to be commented on every five minutes although not in an unkind judgemental way more of a 'because of your age' way.

I look forward to getting to know everyone :)

smogsville · 09/12/2014 12:17

Welcome back, Inshock.

Lauren, you iron?! Wow. I'd throw myself a bone if I were you and stop right now.

TinyTear · 09/12/2014 12:17

InShock, I am 41 as well... vitage 73 Grin

Also high risk due to previous c section, miscarriage history, hypotyroid, etc etc

Inshock73 · 09/12/2014 12:24

Thanks Smog :)

73 seems to be a fertile year for us over 40's Tiny :) I'm also high risk due to restricted blood flow to my uterus so now on baby aspirin hence the shift in to high risk for pre-eclampsia group. Baby has now slipped in to the just below average size group so now being monitored for that too. Love the etc etc on the end of your post, I feel the same :)

smogsville · 09/12/2014 12:29

Keep soldiering on Inshock I know loads of so called older mothers and yes they were being monitored for more things but all have healthy children now.

Right so I just did a massive sneeze and had a really sharp pain on left hand side sort of down near my hip bone, what's that all about?! Ouch. Luckily am alone in office otherwise everyone would have noticed I yelled out in pain!

Inshock73 · 09/12/2014 12:31

Thanks Smog and that's probably ligament pain, more common on the right but can also be felt on the left.
