We were getting perilously close to being full up, hope no one minds!

Also have mine on Wednesday, good luck squidge :)

I have low b12 again..grr..wish the doctors would listen to me! Got to phone them back after 4:30 to see what the plan is. Just hope it won't affect the baby. Anyone else have any experience?

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 08/12/2014 12:27

supposed to be resting while the house goes to ruin with boxes everywhere and the presents are unwrapped and the kids run riot and .... resting. yeah.

the toddler kept me up all night because he kept waking up, because he's ill.
my fatigue syndrome is getting worse.

wishing for caffeine about now!

on the positive side, I will be getting a banana crate full of baby girl clothes later for £5 (from a friend on local facebook sale group!)

cinnamongreyhound · 08/12/2014 12:33

Sorry to hear you're poorly daholster and you have concerns over slapped cheek. My friend who's a primary school teacher had several children in her class with it when she was pregnant and all was fine.

What kind of scientist BananaToast? I used to work in science before I stopped to be a childminder :) Will you not have a single glass of champagne at Christmas? I don't drink so I won't miss it but always have half a glass at Christmas to join in with everyone else and probably still will.

No experience of B12 sorry LadyNovember.

I've just got a letter for an appointment at the antenatal clinic at the hospital today?!? No one mentioned Id be going to the hospital, will I sound like an idiot if I ring and as what it's for?

smogsville · 08/12/2014 12:45

Banana, why would anyone think it 'wrong' to find out the sex?! Bemused.

Boo - thanks for the Belvoir info I will avoid.

A grown up drink I am enjoying is fever tree low cal tonic water with loads of ice and a few drops of angostura bitters to turn it a lovely pale pink colour. Don't know why I'm bothering with low cal given the amount of choc I'm piling through.

Can't bloody wait for Friday's scan it feels like an age away. Mum's having DD so DH and I are planning to have a crafty lunch together afterwards before heading home, all being well of course.

Baby wasn't moving much yesterday (that I could feel) and I got in a panic but then I got into bed and felt loads of small movements and so did DH for first time, what a relief. It's funny though he couldn't feel what I thought of as the 'biggest' ones, just some of the tiddly little wiggles.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 08/12/2014 12:47

"they" say that when you're up and moving around, you're distracted and the baby is getting sloshed gently to sleep. When you are in bed, the moving stops and the sloshing stops so baby wakes up and wiggles a bit.

smogsville · 08/12/2014 12:49

Feel like I'm hogging this thread this morning but what are people doing for maternity coats?

Don't really want to spend a fortune on a new one as not planning any more DCs. Didn't need one for DD as September born.

Am thinking second hand from eBay? Still in normal coats ATM but I can't see this lasting beyond January.

Thanks.

TinyTear · 08/12/2014 13:09

i got the Jojo Maman one with the extra panel... last time it was Jnuary so didn't get one, but this time, what with going to Scotland for a week in Feb and all I wanted a proper coat

BananaToast · 08/12/2014 13:19

cinnamon I'm a postdoctoral researcher in Psychology/Epidemiology. I'm not planning on having any alcohol throughout the pregnancy, I am not a massive drinker normally and just don't see the need to drink at all while pregnant, although I know an occasional glass wouldn't hurt.

smog apparently it's wrong to find out because it's nature's surprise and the best one you could ever have, and finding out early just isn't the way it's meant to be done Hmm. I figure it's a surprise at whichever point you find out! I totally understand why some people would want to wait, but I don't think finding out early is wrong in any way. I just nodded and smiled.

Re maternity coats, I'm not planning on buying one. I still easily fit in all my coats at the moment and have a couple that will accommodate a growing bump - one does up at the top and is open from ribcage down, for example. If it's particularly cold when I'm big I'll just wear loads of layers underneath or borrow DH's when going out for longer periods. Most of my trips in the week are v short to and from the tube so I don't get cold for too long.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 08/12/2014 13:53

I have a fleece jacket which will hopefully last me, there's still quite a lot of room in it.

can't afford to buy many maternity clothes. Mostly my clothes from when I was fatter will do, except the trousers are all worn out now so I re placed them with things that fit me at the time.. so now they don't!

daholster · 08/12/2014 14:17

I need a coat... Last time I used an old scrappy one and just did up the top button but bump got cold! Am bigger (fatter) this time so things are becoming a squeeze. Hoping for one for Christmas... Otherwise it will be eBay!

LadyNovember · 08/12/2014 14:35

I don't walk anywhere to need a coat haha! Jumpers and those blanket cardys are enough for in and out the car Smile

smogsville · 08/12/2014 14:52

My parker has a zip running the length of it so I would be surprised if it would accommodate a 7 month+ bump although some of you have got me thinking about layers and so on. I may ask some local mum friends if they have one I could borrow as it really will be for about 2 months!

Today's greedy gorging has consisted of banoffee pie made by a colleague and six advent chocs from my work calendar (I build up a deficit by only being in office two days a week). Food baby is certainly growing impressively!

Peppermint tea now Wink

FizzyBubbly · 08/12/2014 15:53

As my due date us a week different to last time I thought I'd be able to get away with not getting a maternity coat again (managed with layers and scarfs last time) But seeing as I'm already unable to do any of my coats up I've bought the Jojo Maman one too. Managed to find a brand new with tags one on eBay for £40 which is a bargain as think it's £70 in the shops?? Wasn't going to bother with anything too pricey as this will be our last DC.

Hope you're feeling a bit better Daholster?

TheBooMonster · 08/12/2014 16:50

banana They were both names from my list, but when we'd been talkingg about it last week we'd been leaning towards Evelyn Felicity Ivy/Jane I'm a bit relieved to have lost Felicity tbh...

with regards to coats I might just steal DH's, I like my coats but they won't last me the rest of pregnancy, and I don't really need any encouragement to have a third child, at least with the maternity clothes I'm getting I can use them for breast feeding after the birth so they'll get plenty of use, a maternity coat would get pretty useless pretty quickly, and I'm so bloody fussy about coats that I'd probably have to spend a lot to get a maternity coat I'd actually wear...

Anyone know much about Homeopathy? I was sure I'd read that 30c was more potent than 200c but now I'm struggling to see any evidence of that and Helios got back to me about the childbirth kit which is just under £30 and has 18 things in and a book explaining what to use when which i'm pretty tempted by because that's pretty good value, but it's 200c strength rather than the 30c strength that's on the shelves and now I'm confused...

LadyNovember · 08/12/2014 17:12

200c is more potent than 30c.

londonlivvy · 08/12/2014 17:42

I bought an H&M quilted preg coat for 25 quid and I love it. warm and toasty. Strictly speaking I could probably still fit into my old coats until January but figured I may as well get wear out of it. Plus shops are weird and probably will only sell me a tankini in January, not a coat. I remember vividly the problems I had trying to buy a warmish cardi in April when none of the shops stocked anything of the sort and it was freezing. I ended up on eBay!

Hidingthefear · 08/12/2014 17:46

Hi ladynovember I too have the b12 battle with my doctors. My notes say I haver pernicious anemia and I've been told that my body doesn't make intrinsic factor so won't absorb b12 anyway but they stopped my b12 injections a few years ago and never really said why. In heinsight I should have asked but coz I was only 21 I didn't think to question the doctor. They've said I'm anemic yet when the mw did my bloods, she posted them to me and it said everything was fine. So I'm a little confused
I've been told b12 deficiency won't affect baby though. I haven't been takin iron supplements or folic acid though due to being sick every day :/

I'm not bothering with maternity coat due to cost and instead have bought a Cape that will llast me no matter what and asked for a wooly poncho for crimp. Never to big for a poncho :)

kismac · 08/12/2014 18:30

Im have coat dilemma. I thought I'd be fine cause it's a bubble shape at the bottom but Im having issues fitting my boobs in it which I didn't expect, so might need to get a stupid maternity coat. Not a happy bunny.

cinnamongreyhound · 08/12/2014 18:32

I haven't planned get, but probably a second hand one from eBay.

Lauren82000 · 08/12/2014 18:38

I think I'm ok for a coat so far. It still zips all the way up but it's a bit if a struggle with my work badge on so it won't be long till it won't zip up anymoreHmm the good news is I still have the coat I used last time it was just a normal coat but it had a pleat in the back that just gave me those extra few inches I needed. I'll have to dig it out much to DHs disgust as he hated that coat. Grin

daholster · 08/12/2014 19:06

londonlivvy I had the same problem last time, it took me by surprise that all the summer stuff was in and I couldn't get the clothes I needed... Ended up mainly on ASOS sales!

fizzy thanks for asking... Not really! Left jaw/roof of mouth/eye/teeth ache and stuffed up nose. Deep left ear a little too. I'm assuming it's the left sinuses... Not dental - cos I think if it is dental then it's a bit of a coincidence that it came on with the rest of a cold? Work tomorrow, not looking forward to it...

cinnamon thanks for that info. I was in close contact with him which is my worry, but the risk numbers at our stage of pregnancy are pretty small, so fingers crossed it will be ok.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 08/12/2014 20:59

poncho! why didn't I think of that? there are easy ways to DIY one of those!

TheBooMonster · 08/12/2014 21:03

Ladies, there is a pink lining competition, thought I'd share it here if that's ok www.pinklining.com/uk/competition-12-days-of-christmas/ to win a stocking, and a matching changing bag, a bottle holder and purse, it's a pretty pennies worth!

smogsville · 08/12/2014 21:34

Londonlivvy this is encouraging news re h&m I may copy you. I don't need to be uber smart for work so might be just the ticket.

Is anyone else watching this Tatler show? Hilarious!

Wineandchoccy · 08/12/2014 21:53

I've won a maternity coat on ebay tonight, I was freezing today because my work coat no longer fastens and I got soaked.

I have had a bath and pjs on so I feel much better Smile
