Well today is my EDD....and absolutely zero signs of bean turning up anytime soon. In fact I went for a walk waddle this morning and was even able to walk further than I have done for the last couple of weeks so I'm really hoping that doesn't mean it's moved and become dis-engaged (is that possible?). For the last 2 nights bean has gone absolutely mad when I've laid down to go to bed - the movement has been out of this world, so really don't want to find out that it's managed to un-wedge itself... Oh well, will have to wait til MW appt on Thursday to see what's going on.

Horis, any signs for you today?

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 18/11/2014 13:36

Had pre OP app today for my section and had 5 viles blood taken as I agreed to cord blood donation - it's seems silly not to if a healthy person as no risk to you or baby and could save someone life.

Petal26 · 18/11/2014 13:59

Pains so strong this morning nearly rang DH to get him home from work then they stopped, boo!

Shipped DD off to MIL's for a couple of hours so going to start a new book, just finished 'Gone girl' and going to start 'The book thief'. Maybe it'll make baby arrive, using my waiting time wisely, ticking books off my 'to read list' Grin

happypotamus · 18/11/2014 15:22

Hope it is still ok to post here now I have had my baby.
She has finally made it back to her birth weight, been discharged from community midwives and I have stopped with all the expressing and topping-up after breastfeeds.
FIL was rushed to hospital yesterday, so DH spent all day there until late in the evening. Apparently FIL had septic shock, and was very unwell. I somehow managed to feed and bath DD1 while feeding DD2 at the same time (it was a long bath though as I couldn't get her out while breastfeeding).
Congratulations to those with new babies since I last checked.
Petal Enjoy your book, I wish I had spent more time getting through my pile of books to read. DH has, however, bought a second hand kindle from ebay so I can read with one hand while feeding DD2 (Kindle doesn't solve the problem of being too tired to see the words or concentrate on the story though!)
eastmids I agreed to donate my cord blood too, couldn't see any reason not to when it would only have been disposed of otherwise. Sadly, it didn't actually happen, because the cord was wrapped round DD's neck and they had to cut it quick to get her breathing and the MW didn't realise that was the plan as there wasn't time to read my notes before she was born.

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 18/11/2014 15:31

Eastmids what else did they do at your pre op? I have mine tomorrow for cs on Friday thanks!

catg83 · 18/11/2014 16:34

Hi Happypotamus! Sorry to hear about your FIL. Hope hubby is doing ok. Sounds like you are getting on well with the newborn.

Afternoon spent lazing on the sofa watching awful TV. X

amy83firsttimer · 18/11/2014 16:42

Lazy day here too cat - binge-watching Him & Her on Netflix.
I had a very weird night's sleep too - woke up at about 3, decided to look on MN, saw some Xmas threads in active convos, ended up buying new Xmas lights and decs on tesco direct using up my clubcard vouchers! Sooooo bored of being pregnant now. Come on baby!!!

OP posts:
pinkgirlythoughts · 18/11/2014 17:43

Yes excited (although he didn't have a name for the first morning!) He is Stanley Charles.

excitedforbaba · 18/11/2014 18:30

Aww fabulous pink I'm so jealous of all these lovely newborn babies now! But all being well I should hopefully either have mine or be mid labour this time next week!

Feeling more relaxed about induction now and if I go myself before then it's a bonus!

Horispondle · 18/11/2014 18:33

hi haventgotaclue my due date buddy. Nope nothing happening here. Such a bloody anti-climax!
Had mw yesterday and got my 2nd sweep (well 2nd and 3rd since there was a student there and she had a go as well) and they told me I was 4cm, 2/5th palpable, can feel the waters etc. They were so sure I'm going to go any day now, but they said the same last week!
Wish I could laze about on the sofa watching TV but DD's nursery has 3 in-service days in a row, so I'm on full time entertaining her.
And my fecking washing machine packed in yesterday, great timing! So frantically trying to find a replacement that can get delivered ASAP!

haventgotaclue1 · 18/11/2014 18:43

Blimey Horis, 2/3 sweeps already?! I haven't had any yet....1st one booked in for next Tuesday (when I'll be dot on 41 weeks). Wonder if it varies by area...?

Petal26 · 18/11/2014 19:21

happy glad your DD has made it back to her birth weight :-) I bought a kindle as my DD got older. When I was feeding her and tried to turn the page of a 'real book' she would stop feeding every time and have a good nosey around! Easier to swipe the kindle :-) Although I am on the paperbacks at the moment while I've still got 2 hands free!

amy love 'Him and Her', a day well spent!

Horispondle · 18/11/2014 19:43

Yeah I was surprised they let me have a sweep last week at 39+1! I think it was because I had been seeing a consultant for extra growth scans since they thought baby was going to be extra small. That's just added to my anticipation since there was talk about an early induction since 37 weeks and thankfully baby has grown so no need for one but it's made waiting all the more tedious! Confused Midwife's appointments are all full now so I won't get another one until 41weeks. Got my induction booked for the 30th Nov. It's my DD's birthday on the 28th and I told her she was getting a baby before then!

Sazhoopz · 18/11/2014 19:51

So that's was an experience....DS2 was born at home at 04:05 after a 3hr labour, this was not the plan! The contractions started pretty quickly & came thick & fast towards the end and there was no way I was going to make it to the hospital on time so phoned 999 but he was in such a rush he turned up before the ambulance! All been a bit of a daze since, baby is currently in NICU due to some fluid on his lungs which is causing him some problems breathing but he is getting better everytime I pop over & see him.

Seems very odd being in a room without him, but I know he is in the best possible place and I really need some sleep as I'm slowly running out of energy!

Hope everyone left is ok and has slightly less dramatic births!

catg83 · 18/11/2014 19:56

Wow Saz what a story to tell him when he is older! Congratulations. Well done. x

Petal26 · 18/11/2014 20:00

Oh saz I can't believe you beat me!!
I mean congratulations of course GrinGrin Sounds like a bit of a rush!

ladydolly · 18/11/2014 20:03

wow saz amazing!! Congratulations!!! Amazing story!

Hormonal weepy day today. I feel so stressed and under pressure from everyone because I've gone so late. All through my pregnancy I've said when the time comes we want privacy and will just let them know once she arrived which everyone (our families) has completely ignored once I got to 41 weeks and want to know induction dates, sweep apts, the lot!! I just want it to be about me and dp. I feel like they're taking it away from us.Sad

12 days over, 36 hours to get out or induction!

Strawberryfield12 · 18/11/2014 20:55

lady so sorry to hear :( i think you have to be very egoistic now and think only about yourself and baby. Disconnect all means of communication and spend some time in peace. Your appointments is your personal thing between you and med personnel. And maybe some people you decide yourself. Nobody has right to ask you about these things and you have all rights of the world to point it out to people who are too pushy.
I have told DH very firmly that whatever happens in the hospital stays between us and I don't want any stories or photos from there travelling among relatives. I hope he sticks to it or I will go wile.
Big and strong hug xx

utopian99 · 18/11/2014 20:56

ladydolly I really feel for you, I went 12 days over last time and the enquiries drove me mad. Honestly, I don't know how people can fail to understand that badgering just Pisses Us Off. Can you tell them to leave you in peace for the last few days?

haventgotaclue1 · 18/11/2014 21:25

Crikey Saz Grin!!!! Definitely not what you expected! Hope you get some much needed rest and that your baby boy is out of NICU and with you soon Thanks

Vijac · 18/11/2014 21:32

Congrats Saz and Pink. Hope it's my turn next! Saw midwife today and had sweep number too. She said I had progressed-cervix soft, mid position, 1.5 cm long and 1-2cm dilated. But bad news is that baby appear to have moved (since Thursday) into a back to back position. So I need to do lots on hands and knees etc to bring her back round. Actually wondering if this may have already worked to swing her back. Said if back to back it can delay the start of labour Hmm. Anyone else got baby in funny position?

Vijac · 18/11/2014 21:33

Aaargh two not too!

ladydolly · 18/11/2014 21:50

Thanks strawberry and Utopian, have just put a radio silence order in with my family, mum has said 'I'll try' so have put my sisters onto keeping her under control. Dp needs to deal with his mother which is a whole other story. Everyone else I'm comfortable ignoring. Think the hormones are rampant as I sobbed through every text I sent.

vijac mine is nearly back to back, kind of sideways so her back runs between my side and backbone but she moves a lot and since her head isn't engaged she gets in and out of position all then time. Checkout the spinning babies website for some moves.

Better day tomorrow I'm sure. And maybe some more arrivals overnight!!!
