Vijac my wee monkey has been back to back. The right way round. Back to back and is currently the right way round again...for now!
I spent ages on the bouncy ball and he/she turned by the next appointment then a few days later back to back again! Apparently they can even turn either way during labour!!

Congratulations saz, that is my scariest nightmare having baby at home not knowing what to do! I have actually been to DR Google to read up on an unassisted home birth just in case... Not that I will remember anything in the sheer panic Confused

Hope your all doing well, I'm almost 4 days over now and fed up of the calls and texts already I don't know how the rest of you haven't blew a fuse yet!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 19/11/2014 06:43

Whenwill - they tell u what time to come in, get u to swab your nose n perineium for mrsa testing. Give u a wash to use beforehand and after section to prevent infection and some stuff to stick up nose 3 times day before section...... then give u 2 ranitidine tablets one to take night before and one on mornings to reduce acid. Then take bloods. You will prob see just a health care assistant and very poss a midwife but not always. Same system as 4yrs ago when I had an elective.

haventgotaclue1 · 19/11/2014 06:44

Morning everyone - hope you're all okay this morning. Wonder if there have been any new arrivals over night?

All quiet on the western front here - now officially overdue. ... am also thinking bean may have moved Vijac so have googled it and got some ideas on what I can do to try to move it back again. Looks like I'm going to have a lovely clean kitchen floor by the end of the day Wink (it says being on all 4s is meant to help! )

amy83firsttimer · 19/11/2014 07:14

I think it's kitchen floor for me too today! Dreaded term +10 appt tomorrow at the hospital so really want to go naturally before then. Had lovely curry out last night and a dance when we got in Smile but nothing! Been up since 6 - could that be a sign?!

Morning all. Sounds like we will all be doing a Cinderella act by the end of today. Baby was been back to back most of the pregnancy and at the last appointment I was told he had moved but now it feels like he might have moved back.

40+6 today here. Sweep this afternoon. We will see. My mum rang me 5 times yesterdaySad just checking on how I was and how I was feeling. It then goes very swiftly into how her business is and what she is doing which on one hand is easier to talk about but also makes me feel like she doesn't really care. Oh the joy of mixed hormonal feelings. x

happypotamus · 19/11/2014 09:57

saz congratulations on your baby. I narrowly avoided being in your unplanned home birth situation (DD2 born about 15mins after we got to hospital, I had phoned the hospital about 30mins earlier and been advised to have some paracetamol and a bath, fortunately I ignored that advice). It must have a very scary experience. I hope your baby is well soon.

pink It has finally clicked that I know who you are from our older DC's MN antenatal/ postnatal thread! Congratulations on your new baby. How is his big brother (not sure if you want him naming here) taking it?

Better see if my baby will let me get dressed now. She is generally not very impressed with being put down so I can do anything.

pinkgirlythoughts · 19/11/2014 11:16

Aw, Happy, I wondered if you were on this thread when I knew we were expecting in the same month again! He's loving being a big brother, keeps kissing him and asking if it's his turn to hold him again yet! How's your DD1 enjoying sisterhood?

Thehedgehogsong · 19/11/2014 12:19

Massive stroppy pregnant madam here! Woke up this morning to a transverse baby at 38+6, after only about 4 hours sleep due to hip pain. Baby has turned head down again after much marching about, but I am so disheartened. On Monday head was down and 'locked in' according to midwife Sad
I must be weeks away from having this baby if it's still dancing about!

amy83firsttimer · 19/11/2014 12:23

Aw hedgehogsong I feel your pain but you've still got time and it's number 2 so they reckon you're much more likely to have the baby engage and disengage right up until the end with numbers 2+.

Thehedgehogsong · 19/11/2014 12:55

Thanks Amy. I hope when labour begins it will be head down. I'm having contractions and the trots and cervix pain and horrible hip pain, it's been a week of this, so I'm so fed up! My 4yo is so used to me being sleepy she's not even complaining anymore!

catg83 · 19/11/2014 14:10

Hiya all. Off for sweep in an hour. Bit worried about how it will feel and what to do afterwards. I am planning on coming home and having a warm bath and a nap.

My mother has text me 6 times today and MIL 3 times. Who knew they could message? Wink

amy83firsttimer · 19/11/2014 14:17

Take a big soft pad with you and I just felt like being upright afterwards in the hope that it helped bring labour on. not done the floor but have been for a walk. Getting fed up!

OP posts:
ladydolly · 19/11/2014 14:34

Good luck catg my 1st was totally painless and I went for a long walk afterwards, no bleeding, 2nd felt like a more intense smear test but no pain after, spent a lot of time on my ball, no bleeding. I read somewhere they're 60-70% effective, they're OK odds!

41+6 today. Got very excites about a morning of cramps and contractions... Which have now disappeared :( afternoon on the ball I think. hoping and praying labour starts in the next 24 hours

catg83 · 19/11/2014 14:53

Thanks amy and lady. I had not really thought of going for a walk afterwards I think I will walk to the bakery for a cream cake and see how we go. I like those odds! X

Strawberryfield12 · 19/11/2014 16:08

Fingers crossed lady!

Not too sure where it came from, but it crossed my mind today when the baby was all kicking like crazy. When one goes into labor, does the baby keeps quiet or she would go on kicking all through the contractions or....?

ladydolly · 19/11/2014 16:56

OK, went for quick lay down and when I got up they started again, about an hour of coming every 5 mins while I was cooking dinner for later, sit on my ball and they stop, just mild back ache/cramp. I can't walk around all night... Can I??

strawberry I had the same thought and also read a birth story about a woman who had delivered baby's head and could feel kicking still!! Weird!!

haventgotaclue1 · 19/11/2014 17:03

Hmmmmm....well what have I achieved today? One VERY clean kitchen floor. That's it. Hmm.

Thehedgehogsong · 19/11/2014 17:14

Oh bless you lady I'm thinking of you! I thought the ball had the same effect as walking but I guess not in your case. Could you alternate perhaps all night if you can't sleep?

excitedforbaba · 19/11/2014 17:51

Lady I read somewhere that walking helps BH pains but can actually ramp up real contractions again not sure how true this is!

Strawberry apparently you are supposed to feel baby movement all through labour

utopian99 · 19/11/2014 17:54

Yes, I could (albeit the contractions are a mite distracting.) Walking sideways up and down stairs can accelerate things no end too; I did it for 15 mins during which contractions went from 1/6mins to 1/2.5mins!

DrBlondie · 19/11/2014 18:24

Hi all, sorry I've not read the thread for a few days but hope everyone is well and coping.

Baby blondie decided to come a bit early! Labour started Saturday and Megan was born on Monday 17th November. 6 lbs 4 ozs. Just home from hospital today. Bit achy and tired but she's totally worth it!

Flowers to all

Thehedgehogsong · 19/11/2014 18:34

Congratulations Blondie!! Lovely news and a great name :)

catg83 · 19/11/2014 18:41

Congratulations Blondie. Well done.

Had my sweep this afternoon. All went ok. A very nice midwife and her student. It was a little bit uncomfortable like a bad smear but fine. Outside of cervix soft, inside hard and not open so she reckons 50/50 on it doing anything. We will see! Out patient induction booked for Wednesday. X

Strawberryfield12 · 19/11/2014 19:08

lady apparently when my nephew was born, he started to cry as soon as his head was out and the rest of the body still inside the mum... That must be really weird...

Strawberryfield12 · 19/11/2014 19:09

blondie congratulations!
