Arkkorox it might not be as bad as it looks - when elderly people get sick it tends to be VERY dramatic and looks very touch and go, but sometimes its an overlooked UTI or a bowel obstruction or something like that. Often a few days of IV fluids and antibiotics can make a dramatic change. Obviously I don't know whats happened, but am a nurse and have seen a lot of elderly patients follow that pattern. They frighten the life out of you and are slow to recover, but its frequently not as life and death as it first seems.

My Dad was admitted to A&E when I was 36 weeks and discharged when I was about 4 days away from due date. It was horrendous, he was very sick & I was in to him every day, killing myself. But he's home now and has perked up a lot after having a grandson. Smile

Congrats Workfree! Lovely news Smile

And Ark, have a big hug and Brew and Cake I do hope your Gran is going to be ok xx

Had strong and regular contractions again Thurs night, overnight and then Fri am. So midwife checked when we got to the appointment and....nothing. Cervix still closed. I was so disappointed. So now I have no idea when it's likely to make an appearance. I had really hoped that all the horribly uncomfortable and reasonably regular contractions I've been having might have meant that things were starting at least, but to find out that my cervix is still closed just about finished me off. Baby has been 2/5ths engaged for the last 3 weeks.

Sorry for moaning. I know it could be worse and I probably sound horribly self absorbed. I guess lack of sleep, hormones and false expectations don't help.

thisis I think we're allowed to be self absorbed at the moment!
ark - listen to Annarose2014 - my gran did similar stuff for years before the "inevitable " happened and worse comes to the worse you will sort something. Cake

Just back from monitoring a the hospital. It's not waters! They were a bit concerned at the level of discharge and also protein in urine so samples sent away.
Contractions getting painful and close together so they sent me home to hopefully have my homebirth, if it's going to continue anyway, might tail off overnight again.

Thisis I hope you get some rest and then suddenly pop into labour! Moan away here, I think those of us left are bound to feel a bit irate!

I wish you had all been right girls. Sadly now it's a waiting game, ruptured aneurism in her abdomen. They cant do anything to fix it because of her age and fitness. Thank you for all your kind words, it really does mean a lot xxx

Thank you girls. Ive come home and my dad and his sister are just with her now. She was slipping in and out of conciousness when I left so I dont think it will be too long. I am thankfull that she never had to go into a home, she stayed in her home, her bed, her sofa, her kitchen right up to the end. However I am gutted she will never get to meet her third great grandchild.

Sympathy ark, I'm so sorry. Hugs and Flowers

Good news hedgehog! I wouldn't worry too much about the protein- this might be from the discharge. Glamorous this pregnancy malarkey!

Baby boy born this afternoon at 38+3 weighing 7lb1. Very very fast going 0-60 with the drip in but 100% worth it.
I'd been in 3 times quieting leaking waters and reduced movements to be told all was fine. Felt like a right time waster going in again but it's a good thing I did as he was not a happy boy. So please get monitored even if you just think they're having quiet day like I did.

So sorry to hear that ark.

Congratulations workfree and ImBrian.

Well, my bath this morning seemed to halt the twinges. Suspect I'll still be waiting come Monday when I have another sweep booked. Although baby does seem to be having a party in there tonight.

Well, I was asleep when DH came to bed at midnight, woke up and leant over to give him a hug, and my waters broke!

Didn't have any contractions for a while, but mild ones started about an hour ago, and they're just becoming more regular now. Just phoned the midwife, who told me off because apparently I should have phoned as soon as my waters went, even though there were no contractions- got told off with DS for phoning too early after my waters went!

Anyway, if nothing else happens, I have to ring back in an hour, looks like I'll be checked to see whether they've actually gone or not. DH currently having a little nap on the sofa, but I can't close my eyes, or settle to doing anything- just wandering around aimlessly!

I'm having contractions I can't sleep through, so I'm just browsing the net to keep myself busy...

Oooh so exciting pinkgirly hopefully this is it for you now!

Hedgehog also exciting I hope something comes of these pains for you.

I am officially over due now! So cross all day, wanting to meet all those people who told me how huge i was and that I'd never ever make it to my due date and slap them Angry Hmm

Thehedgehogsong · 16/11/2014 03:26

Haha excited that made me laugh. If hunting them down and slapping them helps, I say go for it!

Pains are getting... Interesting. Definitely no sleep for me while they are like this!
