Re sweeps - I had one Thursday and then I'm booked in for a term+10 appt at the hospital for Thursday next week. How do you think I can get another sweep in between when my community midwife service is just Thursdays?! I live in Manchester so it's not like I'm in the sticks!

DTD wise, it's infection that they're worried about so as long as your sack is intact you're fine. If you weren't sure I suppose you could use a condom?

Doh! Ignore condom thought, that'd prevent prostaglandin reaching cervix so defy the point slightly.

amy round here there are drop in midwife clinics that you can go to but for mine they're actually sending me to the birthing centre for tomorrow's . They booked me for an induction either at 41+5 or 42, since I chose 42 I won't have anything between 41+2 and 42.... Perhaps I'll ask about the option of a 3rd sweep in between as well...

amy83firsttimer · 14/11/2014 22:45

I'll only be 41+3 at the hospital (by their dates) so I suppose I could just get looked at, listen to stuff then ask for a sweep and promise to come back at 42?

Sweep was slightly uncomfortable and have been having twinges of backache ever since. No regular pattern though. Trying to get to sleep now.

Had a couple of promising twinges in the small hours and DTD this morning. Going to bounce on my ball after DH goes to work. Really want baby out now!

Arrgg next door had a party last night that lasted from 1am to about 4am & their living room is right next to our bedroom so got very little sleep & nothing to show for it either! Feeling very fed up this morning have already had a big cry for no reason and my cold has got worse.

Sorry for the woe is me post

Baby Brian should hopefully be here today! In for reduced movements and hopefully starting induction shortly :)

Ah, sympathy sazhoopz. That's really inconsiderate of your neighbours. Just think, baby will get revenge for you soon waking them up Grin

Good luck ImBrian.

Still getting twinges but nothing regular as yet, although a lot of the plug seems to have come out. Going to have a bath and then have a sit on my ball in an attempt to move things on.

Congratulations workfree and good luck Brian!

Ladies help me decide. I've felt 'leaky' since Tuesday, regular contractions every night that stop by morning as I'm left with an achy feeling all day before it starts again at night. I'm reluctant to go in for checks in case they invent something that will lose me my homebirth. But should I go?

Report
ladydolly · 15/11/2014 11:34

Congrats workfree!!!

Good luck imbrian hope it all goes smoothly!

hedgehog I have the same thing and consulted Dr google who said a lot of the stronger BH do come in the evenings. Also felt 'leaky' but don't think its waters, just changes down there. Having said that if you are concerned you should def give your midwife a call, doesn't mean you'll lose your home birth, more likely you'll just get some reassurance.

saz that doesn't sound like no reason to cry, it sounds like at least 3 reasons to cry. I would have gone absolutely psycho if the party had been at my neighbours. Hope you can get some rest later.

I actually thought that was it last night, painful tightening all evening and into the night. A few this morning but not regular. Off for my 2nd sweep at lunchtime, hoping that will do the trick. 41+2, quite tricky to get around/sleep/be comfortable now...

amy83firsttimer · 15/11/2014 11:38

How leaky? It could be discharge? Could be waters? or is it definitely waters?
Also, and I'm going to be blunt now but with the very best of intentions, what's more important, baby's prospects or getting a homebirth?

Aw congratulations work free slightly jealous that your lovely baby was born on my due date and I don't even have a hint of anything stirring here!

Good look Brian hope all goes well and can't wait to see your news

Hedgehog I went to midwife with leaking and there is a simple test they can do to determine if it's waters. Also if you wear a pad they can actually test that to see so it's not as intrusive but definitely worth getting checked. Mine just turned out to be changes and possibly loosened pelvic muscles! Attractive Confused

Bounty Lady has already been round. Thank God I slept through it, she just left her bits at the foot of the bed.
Just been accosted by the photo and handprint lady. Gosh, it's relentless. Just the old dear with the Hospital raffle tickets to go. Grin

Thehedgehogsong · 15/11/2014 12:16

Thanks Amy, Exited and Lady. I wonder why they didn't do the simple test last time, rather than just induce me and then have to pop my waters once it had all gone too far. Bit scared of the hospital, it's probably clouding my judgement. To me it feels like the most important thing for me and baby is to never go to that hospital, which I know isn't really true but hard to get over.

We are going to pop to the shop and to a cafe to let DD play, then see if SIL is back from work to watch DD for a while so we can go in if they ask me to.

Sigh...

Just when I thought I could relax and look forward to baby arriving.....

My gran (who I live with) has been rushed to hospital this morning after complaining of a bad pain in her side and not being able to move. She passed out when the paramedics sat her up and has been in and out of conciousness since then, its not looking good. Not sure if I should go up to the hospital or not and support my parents (its dads mum)

I know im being incredibly selfish but I cant help but worry whats going to happen to me and baby now.... if the inevitable happens.

Things you don't want your midwife too say... 'I'm just warning you that the reason her head isn't engaged could be because she's too big to fit' yikes!! She said not to worry and that I'd be carefully monitored in labour to see.

2nd sweep bloody hurt, am 1cm dialated. They're going to give me a 3rd one on Mon/Tues.

ark Stay where you are for now, take it in turns to go up there and I know its easier said than done but try not to worry just yet.

Sazhoopz · 15/11/2014 14:52

Ark I hope your Gran is doing ok, it's tough at anytime but must be worse this late in pregnancy & everything else you have had to deal with recently.

Started to have some of my plug come away today, it's amazing how a small amount of gross sticky stuff can make your day
