Halojones2014 · 30/11/2014 05:34

Hello, I was due on Friday (28th) with DD2 but no sign yet. Hope ok to join the thread at this late stage?!

I have a sweep booked for Tuesday. I was 11 days late with DD1 and went into spontaneous labour whilst waiting to be induced - I don't want to cut it that fine again!

Amy - we had to give DD1 formula in hospital because she was too sleepy to feed, (not normally a new born problem! I was worried this would interfere with breastfeeding but went on to feed her successfully for 8 months. It also meant that she was happy to take a bottle so DH would feed her expressed milk from 9pm to 11pm (or whenever she went to sleep) so that I got a few more continuous hours of sleep.

amy83firsttimer · 30/11/2014 06:42

See, we could understand if he'd been too sleepy to feed but we've had the opposite problem, too greedy and incredibly vocal about it. He is dehydrated though so it needs doing to keep him well. Thanks for words of encouragement.

Well bean finally arrived yesterday Grin

DD, weighing in at exactly 9lbs, was eventually delivered via use of forceps late last night. Whole experience wasn't what I was aiming for but the main thing is she is fit and healthy. Currently in hospital (hoping to go home tomorrow) & now need to crack this BF business. ..

Many congratulations to everyone else who has had an arrival over the last few days Flowers

Greenstone · 30/11/2014 08:51

Congrats hasn't Flowers hope you can rest up a bit!

amy probably a dumb question but has he been checked for tongue tie by someone who knows about tongue tie?

amy83firsttimer · 30/11/2014 09:36

He's been looked at by the paediatrician, the person doing the newborn check and 2 other midwives. They all seemed a little dismissive tbh. I think that is the problem, along with 3 days of just colostrum which is not taken into account in the charts. DH and I are having fun ripping protocols / statistics to shreds and dream of just fucking off out the door at times!!!

Going to find private lactation consultation asap.

That's a really good idea - it's money really spent. Hope you can escape soon!

hotfuzzra · 30/11/2014 16:44

Congrats ladies! Another few babies on the list!
hedgehog me too! I'm now 6 days overdue and very fed up. Had a show today and I've been frantically googling and MNing how long it will be, with various results... I'm guessing nothing super exciting is going to happen and just go with the flow.
Hoping for a home birth so I really really don't want to be induced and have to go to hospital.

Thehedgehogsong · 30/11/2014 17:16

Of course hotfuzzra! I'm 3 days behind you so you're probably more fed up than I am.
I'm hoping for a home birth too but I'm moving house on Friday Sad so I might not get it. I really thought baby would be here by now! I'm going to ask tomorrow if I could try the midwife led unit if I do go into labour on moving day or that weekend, rather that than the hospital.

Strawberryfield12 · 30/11/2014 20:16

hotfuzzra hope in your case the plug is an imminent sign! Got some cramp pain this evening, that is as much as I have had in terms of signs...

Not too sure if you have seen this thread, if not hope it cheers up those waiting for the babies to come. I definitely spent one morning laughing:

Finally home!!!

Arkkorox · 30/11/2014 22:54

Im probably (definately) clutching at straws but baby has moved from my left side ( at last) into the middle.... I so hope this means shes actually thinking about getting a bloody move on. One week overdue tomorrow. Hurry up baby!

Thehedgehogsong · 30/11/2014 23:22

Fingers crossed for you Arkk! but please don't everybody leave me in preggo hell alone!

Arkkorox · 30/11/2014 23:27

Oh Hedgehog im going to feel so guilty if I go into labour now lol

Strawberryfield12 · 30/11/2014 23:49

hedgehog I am sure I will hang around here still for some time with that stubborn goat of my daughter Grin. The last leaving switches off the light :)

Thehedgehogsong · 30/11/2014 23:59

Haha I deserve to be last, my due date is last. You two get on with pushing, I'll hang around here until the bitter end...! I expect a huge party to be ready for me over on the post natal thread though when I finally make it there!

TwigletFiend · 01/12/2014 00:49

Standing by with pom-poms at the ready for your arrival in the PN thread, ladies. Hang in there!

hotfuzzra · 01/12/2014 02:16

Well my show has blossomed into a healthy Bloody Show and I even had a bit of a 'clearout' earlier. (Sorry tmi!)
I'm now lying wide awake with mild cramps/pains not sure if something is happening or if it's just my usual night time tightenings and I'm reading too much into it... Sad

As I remarked to DH earlier I'm so glad to live in this day and age: wtf must heavily pregnant women have thought when they saw their possibly unexpected 'snot in knickers' (read in pp, love the expression!). Internet and MN makes life a lot more bearable/understandable!
Hope I have more news tomorrow and hope you all have good news soon too Smile

Thehedgehogsong · 01/12/2014 02:32

Woo go hotfuzzra! Grin

catg83 · 01/12/2014 05:23

Hi all. Been a bit of a whirlwind here. Baby Malory was born by forceps in theatre at 1.41 on Friday morning. It was all very off what I wanted for my birth plan but he is here safe and sound. Just got home this evening and been feeding non stop since about 9. xxx

Thisisimpossible · 01/12/2014 10:25

Congratulations Cat! I had a day of constant feeding a day or so ago. It was exhausting and he just didn't seem satisfied. The midwives told me it was usual as he was working hard to bring my milk through and get it properly established. We got home last night and so far he seems to be settling into more of a pattern of eating then sleeping. Hang on in there, it won't last forever xx

Good luck Hotfuz!

ladydolly · 01/12/2014 11:19

woo hoo! Congrats Caz!!

Strawberryfield12 · 01/12/2014 11:20

Congratulations Cat!

Thehedgehogsong · 01/12/2014 11:51

Lovely news Cat! Grin

I've got a midwife appt this afternoon, I'm going to have a strop but no sweep, I've decided to definitely turn it down.

Arkkorox · 01/12/2014 12:22

Any particular reason why Hedgehog?

Ive just finished putting all the washed clothes into the draws in the nursery and fully stocked the changing table. Then got a bit tearful cause I want to use it all and I dont think the dog will stay still enough for me to practice nappy changes on..... shes keeping her distance from me... I think she knows im on the verge of losing the plot entirely!
