Sorry ladies, early morning moan coming up Sad. Had an awful night's sleep - went to bed with back ache that didn't improve; got a stich-like pain on lower left hand side of bump; & turning over or getting out of bed is now nearly impossible without the help of my DH. Feel really guilty as am keeping him awake too. ...

Thing is, having never been through this before I have no idea if this is the start, middle or end of anything! Am pleased that the mw is coming round tomorrow for 2nd sweep as am hoping she can enlighten me.

Thisisimpossible · 28/11/2014 08:15

Morning ladies! DS was born at 3.07 yesterday morning (27th) after a very quick labour.

I had a sweep at 12 that day when she said my cervix was still closed at the top, then went for acupuncture. From then on things started to move. I had mild (I didn't think they were mild at the time but what followed definitely put them into perspective) contractions from then on and at 9.30 my waters broke and my goodness the contractions ramped up. Got to the MLU at midnight and the MW said I was 3cm. Was 9cm by 2am and DS popped out (ha!) an hour later. That makes it sound easy...

Anyway he's gorgeous and weighed 7lb 14oz. We have no name for him yet because I was convinced he was going to be a girl!

So, those of you waiting impatiently still I would definitely recommend acupuncture! Although the speed of the birth did leave me feeling very battered, bruised and somewhat in shock yesterday.

We are delighted with our little man!

Congratulations to all those who've also had their lovely babies and the very best of luck to the rest of you who are still waiting. Xxx

Arkkorox · 28/11/2014 08:49

Congrats on your little boy Thisis!

I on the other hand are obviously destined to be pregnant for the rest of eternity....

Thehedgehogsong · 28/11/2014 08:57

Congratulations Thisis!! Lovely birth story!

Strawberryfield12 · 28/11/2014 09:48

Congratulations thisis!

arkk there are few of condemned to everlasting pregnancy... Just think that once that baby will arrive, she will be chubby and all well made as would have had extra time to put up some body fat xx

Thisisimpossible · 28/11/2014 10:21

Thanks guys! Believe me I sympathise. I thought this one was never going to come out. We missed our induction appointment by the skin of our teeth. He was going to be induced 4 hrs after he was born as he'd hung in until 41+6. It won't be forever, you are almost there Smile

haventgotaclue1 · 28/11/2014 11:01

Ahhh, many congratulations Thisis Thanks

Catg and Caz, how are you both getting along? Excited*, are things moving along for you too? Am hoping for some positive news from the MW when she comes round tomorrow morning...otherwise it's induction at 7.30 Sunday morning...

Afternoon all,
Congrats to recent arrivals!! Wine (but wishes there was a champagne emoticon!)
Thisis you've prompted me to get in touch with an acupuncturist. I really hope that works. Only 4 days overdue but fucking fed up. Another one not sleeping well.
I should have gone to a funeral today but it was 4 hrs away and I didn't think it was sensible. However, now we've made the decision not to go, it clearly means I won't go into labour until late next week, so I 'could' have gone... Grrrr.
Thinking of all you more overdue ladies, fingers crossed for you Flowers

Arkkorox · 28/11/2014 12:23

Ive just ordered my tescos shopping for sunday evening so we all know when ill be off to hospital lol

Hoping a mooch around the town market and watching the lights being switched on will kick something off but Ive not got much hope.

Partner text me this morning saying hes got a huge muscle knot on his neck which is screwing his balance up which is a tad worrying. Hes so stressed out at the moment and I know im not helping things being so all over the place bless him.

Thought a pigeon falling down the chimney would have been enough to shock me into labour but evidently not.... feathers everywhere then the dog buggered off with it (its unharmed and released back into the garden to probably do it again). Sometimes I do wonder if my life is actually one big soap drama lol.

Strawberryfield12 · 28/11/2014 15:26

Arkk hope online shopping works for you! I have been all week on Amazon black Friday buying things with next day delivery and am still on antenatal thread...

That freaky pigeon definitely should have worked if any external factor should... Grin

Dizzylizzie29 · 28/11/2014 15:54

Congratulations and hope these more babies on the way soon.
Nothing for me v. Moody now and want to hibernate not bounce on the bloody ball ever again

Thehedgehogsong · 28/11/2014 19:36

Strong contractions again tonight, stupid teasing contractions!

Strawberryfield12 · 28/11/2014 21:44

hedgehog at least you've got something...

ladydolly · 28/11/2014 22:25

Anyone tried evening primrose oil tabs? I took it both ways, I was still induced but my cervix was open which is what its supposed to help with?

haventgotaclue1 · 29/11/2014 08:24

Morning all Smile. Well things are at last progressing here - waters started to go at 3.30pm yesterday (no dramatic gush, more an annoying dribble) & wasttold to go to the hospital to get checked out. Got here about 5.30pm & been here ever since! Things haven't gone exactly to plan so far but hey ho. Now rigged up to an epidural & a number of other bags of stuff! Just playing a waiting game. .....
Hope everyone else is doing okSmile

Thehedgehogsong · 29/11/2014 09:53

Ooh good luck havent! Exciting!

I was up all night with contractions and finally got some sleep at 5am, now up and moving around again to see if I can get them going again!

Strawberryfield12 · 29/11/2014 12:08

Fingers crossed havent!

Getyourflipflopson · 29/11/2014 13:28

Hi everyone, haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread, but congratulations to all that have popped! Our new little man was born on Monday 24th at 5.30am, we have only just got home today after a two day stay in neonatal and a three day stay on the antenatal ward. My waters broke on Saturday morning while doing the food shopping (!), and I didn't go into spontaneous labour until Sunday evening about 6pm. By the time Harrison was born, it had been nearly 48 hours since my waters had broken and unfortunately he developed pneumonia as a side effect of that.
He is well now though, and I am very happy to be home after 5 days of doing the night feeds all on my own! Tired doesn't begin to describe it, I'm sure everyone knows the feeling!

amy83firsttimer · 29/11/2014 19:47

Similar news here - Milo arrived 23.42 on the 24th after 51 hours from first twinges to baby arriving. Still in hospital unfortunately but hoping to be home tomorrow (said that before though!). Will update more when get the chance. Not been able to get 3G in the hospital so keeping it short and will RTFT when home. Congratulations to all who've had babies.

CazY777 · 29/11/2014 20:29

Hi all, sorry for being in touch, it's been a long drawn out process! Have basically been back and forth to the hospital since last Monday, but ended up with induction that failed to progress and my baby girl delivered by caesarean yesterday. It's not an experience I want to repeat, but so glad that she's here at last. Josie Antonia, 8 pounds 13 ounces so she was pretty big! Absolutely shattered now but will be in touch n the next few days. Hope everyone is ok Flowers

Thehedgehogsong · 29/11/2014 21:17

Lovely news flipflops amy and caz!! Congratulations Smile

Is it just me, Strawberry, Arkk and Lizzie left? Sad

Dizzylizzie29 · 29/11/2014 21:32

Yup I'm still waiting- induction tues.have been told to turn up but no idea what to expect?
Actually can't believe am still pregnant ??

Thehedgehogsong · 29/11/2014 22:03

Lizzie I was induced last time. Be prepared for lots of waiting around. A pessary could be the first try, then it's a few hours wait, then an examination, then another pessary perhaps, more waiting... (You can walk around usually, we went to the hospital cafe.)
Eventually if things don't progress you get the drip with constant monitoring which will be on the labour ward.
We did lots of card games and sudoku. My husband wasn't allowed to stay overnight while waiting for the pessary to work!

amy83firsttimer · 30/11/2014 04:37

Currently sat hooked up to a medela symphony pump in hospital. Milo's dehydrated and has lost 12% of his body weight. We've had to top him up with some formula. So disappointed that I'm not providing enough milk Sad

Hospital policy seems absolutely cuckoo tbh and the sooner I can get him home the better. Seeing this as a means to that end only.

OP posts:
Greenstone · 30/11/2014 04:51

Hi amy, just saw your post..congrats on your new boy!
You're so right to see the formula as means to an end - dd2 lost about the same when she was born a few weeks ago and it was so frustrating and worrying to see her not getting enough milk from me! We gave her a few ounces of formula to flush her out and it worked a charm. Sometimes they just need that bump of volume to wake them up enough to learn how to breastfeed properly.
Anyway dd is 4 weeks now and has been fully breastfed since and is gaining really well. It will all be ok once you are home Flowers

Congrats to all other new arrivals too Flowers
