Thanks ark :) hopefully your wee princess won't keep you waiting too long!

Catg I have been trying the sods law approach of putting new bed clothes on much more frequently than normal in the hope of encouraging a waters breaking flood.... Didn't happen!

excitedforbaba · 24/11/2014 11:17

I was the same caz came home on Friday after the appointment and cried my eyes out and the rest of Friday evening was a blur of tears and nose blowing!

Thanks all for the advice regarding food preparation etc is there anything baby related I should be doing now? have all built up, clothes and blankets washed, formula and bottle paraphernalia bought really all I think I need now is the actual baby!

Strawberryfield12 · 24/11/2014 11:31

All the best to those going for induction soon.

EDD+1 today and no signs at all, but I am keeping my calm (at least for now). In fact, I have told myself that overdue is not days after EDD but after EDD+14 as it is perfectly normal for babies to be born for up to wk42. It's just we get too stressed out about it because of being nagged constantly with the messages like "What, no baby yet?!" and during last few weeks of the pregnancy constantly being told about the stillbirths and problems after wk42, so we are under pressure even before the DD comes.

After 9 months thinking that I would have November baby end up with the December one, obviously, is odd but what can I do if the baby appears not to be ready yet?

It looks like I have managed to finish off everything I wanted before going to labour: batch cooking, finish off knitting baby stuff and one craft project for Xmas, buy and wrap the Christmas presents.
The only thing pending - have told myself that would change the bedding when I go into labour unless it's been changed day or to ago, so that we come home with the baby to fresh bedsheets. Interesting how many of us have thought about the bedding!!

Arkkorox · 24/11/2014 11:42

I hope so too Excited, my partner is more impatient than me!!! Hes desperate for his little girl to get here now.

Must stop annoying him while hes at work.... though I think asking if we can get a pygmy hippo if we move to scotland is a perfectly reasonable excuse to text him lol! Im so bored, wondering if I can teach the dog to load the washing machine. This baby better not be too much longer I am obviously going insane....

haventgotaclue1 · 24/11/2014 12:37

40+6 today Confused...first sweep tomorrow and REALLY not looking forward to it at all - I'm crap at that type of thing. I was hoping bean would make an appearance before this was necessary, but still absolutely no signs at all. I'm getting plenty of movement so am hoping all's still fine.

I don't think it's possible for my bump to stretch anymore - I'm assuming bean is still growing / putting on weight? Can anyone enlighten me?

Hope the MW does a nice gentle job tomorrow...reckon I'll get an induction booking too - DH is getting really impatient now and I do want to just get to the end now..there's only so much I can take of not being able to bend down to put my shoes on now Wink...

Arkkorox · 24/11/2014 12:44

Haventgotaclue - Ive had to stop wearing my converse now cause I nearly got stuck in them the other day, had to call my partner to come and untie them for me so I could go to bed haha!

haventgotaclue1 · 24/11/2014 12:54

Grin - yup, me too Ark - no more converse wearing for a while. Al I can manage to put on without any help are my boots (if I sit on the stairs first) and my trainers which I have to leave loosely tied up as I can't bend down to do the laces!

catg83 · 24/11/2014 13:24

Haven't!- I was dreading my sweep and it was much easier and more comfortable than I thought. Keep calm and carry on! Hope it goes ok.

CazY777 · 24/11/2014 13:35

Try not to worry about it too much haven't, the ones I've had have been over quickly, it takes longer to take your shoes and knickers off I find! I don't think my bump can stretch much more either, it's so tight now.

excitedforbaba · 24/11/2014 14:18

Cad I agree it takes longer to get undressed and redressed than the actual sweep! So dignified trying to put your underwear on whilst hugely pregnant and not flash a giant bum to the midwife/doctor

Bump is stretched to capacity and when it tightens up and baby kicks it is sooooo painful! I wish men could experience it for just a day! stretch marks are horrendous the one where I had my bellybutton pierced seems to actually have a personality of its own it looks different and huger on a daily basis!!

catg83 · 24/11/2014 14:35

There was a student midwife at mine and she helped me get my jeans back on and did my trainers up for me. You could tell she had only been doing her training for 2 weeks. x

excitedforbaba · 24/11/2014 14:41

I had a student at mine too and she was going to open the door after it knocked me still lying on the bed with my leggings round one ankle! Looking all attractive as you do!

Although she did have lovely cold hands and spent ages feeling my bump for baby's position etc was like a mini bump massage could have lay there all day and fell asleep!

Thisisimpossible · 24/11/2014 15:46

Haven't my sort of sweeps haven't been desperately pleasant but they've been over very quickly and they weren't quite as bad as I feared.

Well the induction is booked. I have to be at the hospital for 7.30am on Thursday so COME ON baby! We need to make it to the MLU rather than the hospital. Third sweep and acupuncture booked for Wednesday Grin as a last resort.

MusicAndBooks · 24/11/2014 15:52

Hi, congratulations to everyone who's had their babies and good luck to those who are still waiting.
DS2 born on Friday after 4 hour labour, dramatic entrance via ambulance-born 10mins after got to hospital but all fine. Loving having a little one again! Born at 39+2 so was a bit of a surprise as all babies are late in our family! Bf all night long for last couple of days.
Does anyone have the link to the postnatal thread please?

Thehedgehogsong · 24/11/2014 16:24

Congratulations music! How dramatic! Hope the night feeds aren't getting you down and there's some chance of sleep in the day.

I am not venturing far from home today. Lots to do organising everything and I'm a bit nervous about going out with DD without hubby in case she needs picking up. It hurts too much now to carry her! I want my strong normal body back!

Thisisimpossible · 24/11/2014 16:49

Congratulations Music! Hope mine's that quick!

haventgotaclue1 · 24/11/2014 17:11

Thanks for your advice / support ladies Smile. Guess it's just another thing to grin and bear and am steeling myself with the thought that it's for the good of bean. I haven't got this far for it all to go pear-shaped! The MW is actually coming to my house to do it, so hoping familiar surroundings will make me more relaxed...and good to know it's all over pretty quickly.

Many congratualtions Music - another quick arrival!

Good luck Thisis - I'm also hoping to keep to the MLU rather than the labour ward at the hospital...kitchen floor has been cleaned AGAIN today Wink

Congratulations Music. Well done. Sounds a but dramatic. Glad you are enjoying your little one.

Went for a walk to the charity shops and got grumbling low down period pain like feelings so just kept walking, and now it has all stopped. Angry

Strawberryfield12 · 24/11/2014 18:55

Congratulations music!

I guess all the first timers should make a note not to mess around for too long once the labour sets on... :)

haventgotaclue1 · 24/11/2014 20:13

Catg I've had that type of pain on and off for the last 2-3 weeks - nothing has ever come of it Sad. It aches for a bit and then just disappears. Did have a bit of an "accident" this evening...literally went to the loo and then came out, was standing up talking to DH and felt myself leaking...thought it was my waters going, but reckon I just wet myself as nothing happened since Blush.....being pregnant is just SO glamorous....

Horispondle · 24/11/2014 21:08

Thanks for the congratulations ladies and good luck to those still to go. Can't offer any advice on signs that labour was imminent since I had no warning whatsoever. I was going through all the old wives tales the last couple of weeks and the only one I hadn't tried yet was a pineapple and so I had a whole pineapple the night before-maybe there is something in that after all??
It was my second baby and the midwife did keep telling me it would be quick. But what can you do to prepare yourself for a 45 min labour with no warning?
I've got severe 3rd day baby blues today so I'm going to head over to the post natal thread and have a moan as I'm sure you overdue and fed up as hell ladies don't want to hear about it when you'd love to have your baby out right now!

MusicAndBooks · 25/11/2014 00:30

Sorry for the double-post earlier, my addled brain couldn't work it our. Thank you for the congrats! Read my post natal notes and they reckoned 1hr 50 labour so not sure when they time it from but that's quicker than my calculations.
I went for reflexology 3 days before DS arrived so would definitely recommend that to bring it on if you're overdue, or she said acupuncture did the same thing, using certain lines in the body. Also did the curry, pineapple, raspberry leaf tea and yoga to make sure I'd tried everything! To be honest by the end he was so big (I'm pretty short) I felt like I was going to burst, was a real weight to carry round, especially lugging DS1 round too, so was pleased he was slightly early.
Thank you for the link Haven't
Horispondle same here, baby blues set in this morning
Thehedgehogsong I was due day after you on the 26th, one of the last on the list and thought is move over to the December thread. The lack of sleep is taking it's till but DS1 in nursery tomoro so I should be able to rest then. Good luck and hope something happens for you soon

excitedforbaba · 25/11/2014 01:31

Well I'm in to be induced, actually got gel tonight but only mild contractions so far! cervix improved from last week's sweep moved forward and softened but only about 1cm before gel so I'm for another dose first thing! Fingers crossed we have movement tomorrow!
congratulations music & horris :)
