I think I'm just worrying as it's an appointment with a consultant rather than a midwife. I'm booked to see my midwife the next week for a sweep if I don't go into labour before hand.

Had some more cramps tonight but nothing significant really. Baby's definitely quieter though

excitedforbaba · 21/11/2014 05:23

That's who mine was with aswell. Only the 3rd time seeing a consultant the whole way through. I think it's just because they are the ones that can book you in for induction etc if that's what you want to do and they will most likely do a scan aswell.

I see my midwife tomorrow and then that's me to induction

Definitely make them aware baby is quieter

Arkkorox · 21/11/2014 05:29

Yeah I will definitely tell them about baby being a bit on the quiet side. I guess because my whole pregnancy wasn't exactly normal they need to be extra careful with me.... Kind of hoping they do scan me again just for my peice of mind more than anything else. No one really knows for sure how far along I actually am lol

excitedforbaba · 21/11/2014 05:41

I'm sure they will but just ask them to scan and take measurements again etc as you didn't get to have your 12 week dating scan

Good luck tomorrow ark let us know how u get on! I'm going to attempt 2 hours of sleep before I have to get up! Probably make me crankier than usual tomorrow!

Hope u get some sleep x

Getyourflipflopson · 21/11/2014 08:32

40 weeks exactly today! Nothing happening though Hmm. Have got my last sweep tomorrow at the d.a.u tomorrow .

amy83firsttimer · 21/11/2014 09:01

40+11 today. I've got til 6pm Sunday to get this baby out. Got killer sore throat and feeling a bit sorry for myself. Also Sunday's DH's birthday so it's all going to shit somewhat. Sad

hedgehog fingers crossed!

CazY777 · 21/11/2014 10:35

Morning all, hope all is ok ladydolly, and that it's not another false alarm hedgehog

Trip to hospital was fine yesterday, monitoring all good, had my second sweep and cervix is soft but interior still closed but seems to have moved on a bit since Monday so that's good. Had gas and air again and just couldn't stop laughing, which probably isn't normal when a woman has her fingers....!!

The midwife was really nice, had a long chat about induction and the evening pains I've been getting. She said to try not to get too annoyed with them as they are doing some of the work so there should be less to do when the time comes.

Only off putting thing was a woman screaming her head off in one of the birthing rooms, poor thing, hope they gave her some pain relief!

Thehedgehogsong · 21/11/2014 10:52

Woke up still with contractions but much milder than last night Sad

I hope things get moving Amy. I'm sure walking up and down the stairs sideways triggered something yesterday, might be worth a try?

amy83firsttimer · 21/11/2014 11:03

I'll try the stairs but they're very steep and narrow and the neighbours can see me! They'll understand though, they all know I'm late.

If they've got any sense they'll bring you chocolate and sympathy!

Arkkorox · 21/11/2014 12:00

Right im on the warpath now. Not happy with the hospital.

Looking through my notes there are things in there that havent been discussed with me at all! Like the baby possibly being breech? I had to send pics to my midwife friend so she could tell me what half the things in the notes mean. I feel totaly in the dark about my own labour, I know ive missed a huge amount as ive not had classes/scans I should of but surely they should be making the effort to inform me about all this stuff?

No one has spoken to me about the baby possibly being breech or anything like that. I guess I will speak to someone about induction etc today but im not feeling particularly well looked after to be honest.

Thisisimpossible · 21/11/2014 12:30

Oh Ark, I'm really sorry to hear that Sad

catg83 · 21/11/2014 13:58

Ark- when is your next appointment? Could you write down your concerns? I found it a lot easier when I had a list of things to ask. I know you are late to the game with all this pregnancy stuff but you are doing amazingly.

I am 40+8 today. Went for a walk this morning with a local mummy friend and this afternoon I am off to mothercare with a friend and her 3 year old daughter. I will walk this baby out! Apparently neighbours down the road have made me a pineapple cake that they are bringing round this evening too.

Good luck all those trying to get these babies out and to those trying to keep them in too! Grin

Arkkorox · 21/11/2014 14:04

Next appointment is in an hour! taking hospital bag just incase cause babys been a bit on the quiet side but really hoping they dont want me in cause the nursery is being decorated tomorrow!

excitedforbaba · 21/11/2014 15:36

Oh Ark hope all went ok at your appointment, thinking of you!

No reports back from hedgehog hopefully this is a good sign! Smile

Had a horrible trip to hospital this morning for my last sweep attempt, I'm softening! Slowly! But it's progress from Monday! She was able to do a bit of a sweep, wish I'd had gas & air to let her carry on though

Got the induction process explained to me and came home and cried! Really not sure what I want to do now for the best but apparently there is very little chance of me going on my own Sad

Ihatechoosingausername · 21/11/2014 17:54

CazY777 Hearing women screaming in the birthing ward would really freak me out :S

So women actually scream then? I thought that was just what they show on TV

excitedforbaba I cried after booking my induction date too. I feel incompetent! why can't it just happen naturally

Arkkorox · 21/11/2014 18:14

Well....

We are having a girl!

And I thought my partner would be disappointed but he hasn't shut up since we found out and was practically bouncing off the walls in the hospital.

I'm fine, baby's fine, next appointment is at 41 weeks just to keep tabs on me. Fingers crossed it happens next week!

CazY777 · 21/11/2014 18:28

The midwife told me that the woman screaming had only just arrived and was in pain from the journey. She said women who are coping with the pain make more of 'mooing' sound! It did freak me out, but hopefully it's not that bad for everyone, that's what I'm banking on!

excitedforbaba · 21/11/2014 18:52

Caz I watched a one born episode last night and the girl was screeching from the minute she got on the bed! I think I'd have had a melt down if I was waiting to give birth in the place and heard her!

Aww ark that's fantastic! a wee daughter for u both. How exciting Grin

I hate - I was basically told that if i was induced today I'd need the full 2 cycles of pessary and if those didn't get things moving it would be a section! I'm not holding much hope for Mon cervix still posterior 4cm long and not even 1cm dilated but she got a bit of room to do something so hopefully I have progress between now and Mon night

Annarose2014 · 21/11/2014 19:05

My best friend told me she screamed so much they had to move her down the corridor so as not to upset the other mums! But she's very loud in general, lol.

Thehedgehogsong · 21/11/2014 19:28

I screamed a bit last time, was mostly loud moos though really. Honestly the last thing to worry about is the noise you make!

Btw I'm still here, still contracting, still pregnant... Trying to keep my mind off it!

Ihatechoosingausername · 21/11/2014 19:29

Arkkorox Congrats! :)

excitedforbaba Fingers crossed!

I really don't want a c section :S

Dizzylizzie29 · 21/11/2014 21:49

Consultant told me last time to scream a little louder as not everyone on the ward could hear Blush
That was before the epidural.i was quiet as a mouse after thatGrin

excitedforbaba · 21/11/2014 22:23

Haha dizzy that made me laugh. Thank u for cheering me up a little! having a tear-ey feeling sorry for myself kind of night!!
