IHateChoosing I'm sorry! Hope you're not worried, I'm sure it will be fine and even if it doesn't work it can't be long before baby comes anyway. If it does work it will speed up something that was supposed to happen anyway Smile

haventgotaclue1 · 20/11/2014 16:44

Interesting article Thisis - thanks for posting.

I knew it Sad. MW confirmed this afternoon that Bean has moved. At last appt (week 38) she described it as "text book" (and I really got my hopes up!); today (40+2), it's moved to back-to-back position...She's given me some tips to try to get it to move round before it makes its appearance, but am a bit gutted. Sweep booked in for next Tuesday and in the meantime she's suggested sniffing / using Sage oil and trying out the breast pump...am willing to give everything anything a go now!

amy83firsttimer · 20/11/2014 17:12

I had my term +10 appt today. Was booked for 11.30 - got seen just before 14.30. Not happy !

Anyway, she did a pretty normal appt and then a sweep. A little bit of progress made vs the sweep last Thursday so hopefully I'll go naturally but I've booked in for induction on Sunday if not. It's not what I want but I think for me I need to put more weight on baby's safety than my desires for a natural birth. It's a very personal choice though and I know a lot of people would go for monitoring but mind made up - time for baby to come out. (reeeeally hope it comes out on its own accord though)

Fingers crossed for you that it doesn't come to induction Amy. They can be positive experiences though, I know mine last time was not at all good but if I had started with a more favourable cervix I'm sure it would have been quicker and easier. The later you are I guess the easier it will most likely be.

I slipped today while leaning on my hand to lower myself to the floor and my bruised patch on my stomach felt like it ripped open! Awful pain! Now it's much more sore and I've learnt my lesson about trying to scrub on hands and knees at the back of the fridge...!

Ihatechoosingausername · 20/11/2014 17:28

I couldn't have the sweep done as my cervix is too far back, and still tubular and closed. Induction booked for Tuesday!

haventgotaclue1 My MW's given me some oils to sniff too. Am going to put some in a bath I reckon

catg83 · 20/11/2014 17:59

Hadn't even thought of getting the oils out. You can't use sage for most of your pregnancy as it can lead to early labour. At 40+7 it won't be early will it. Thanks for mentioning it ladies.

Arkkorox · 20/11/2014 18:01

Ladies I have a silly question....

Ive got my 40 week appointment tomorrow ( though technicaly I will be 39+4 ..... though actually in my case who the hell knows what day it actually will be!)

What do they do? Im worried about being kept in, and internal exams! Argh!

Strawberryfield12 · 20/11/2014 18:12

Ihatechoosing that's great idea, the oils. I have lavender and some special mix for labor massage, might get DH working on my back!

Btw at the beginning of the week tried that aubergine and tomato recipe from Scalini restaurant in the US. Has not worked as I am here still in one piece Hmm. But the cooking process was quite labour intensive, had a sore back afterwards... Maybe that was supposed to be the trick to kick off the labor? Grin

Thehedgehogsong · 20/11/2014 18:15

Arkk it's the same as other appointments, blood pressure and wee check, and they could offer a sweep or to book you for one next week, and ask how you feel about induction. Definitely no holding you hostage!

haventgotaclue1 · 20/11/2014 18:25

Yep Ark I had my 40 week MW appt today and Hedgehog is quite right- that's exactly what happened to me - the "normal" kind of MW appt: tested my wee; took my BP; listened to the heart beat and measured my bump. (And I was free to leave at the end Wink)

Arkkorox · 20/11/2014 18:57

Hmm, I had a MW one a week ago but this one is with the obstitritian (sp?) at the hospital rather than at my doctors like my normal MW appointments...

I hope you guys are right!

ladydolly · 20/11/2014 19:04

Nothing happening so far! Got here for 10, pessary at 1, nothing happening apart from usual tightenings. They'll leave it until lunchtime tomorrow and then I'll have the gel or they'll break my waters since I'm 2cm dialated already.

I really didn't want to be induced but I scared myself with worrying about causing problems for the baby and genuinely, I'd got so wound up and stressed by people nagging and getting involved I feel like that's why nothing was happening. It's nice being shut away from that even if nothing is happening... yet! At this rate she could end up arriving 16 days late!! What a little madam!!

Hope everyone is doing ok!

Arkkorox · 20/11/2014 19:50

Having some crampy pains this evening, not really coming and going more just there all the time if that makes sense. Also (tmi!) lots of poos!

Could this be the begining?!

Horispondle · 20/11/2014 20:00

Sitting in yet another clary sage and lavender oil bath at 40+2 been having them nearly every night for about 3 weeks so I wouldn't recommend them for bringing on labour! I'm so not a bath person and don't think I'd had one since my last pregnancy 4 years ago but have found a scorching hot bath the best thing for my SPD/PGP pain, and at the moment upper back pain. (Just to add to the list of complaintsHmm)
I'm super grumpy tonight, was OK today but DH came home from work and started ripping out kitchen units for our new washing machine coming tomorrow, which was quite proactive and useful of him but I was trying to make dinner/feed and entertain DD at the same time and it was stressing me out!
I'm so sick of being 'in limbo' I wish I had just got it in my head baby was going to be late instead of getting all excited about being so dilated so early on Confused.

Dizzylizzie29 · 20/11/2014 20:05

I have had period pains and plenty of poos for about 4days now. And some very sharp hurty pains...
And nothing
Booked for a sweep 40+7 and feeling abit blah. It's the constant -oh is this it etc and nada

Arkkorox · 20/11/2014 20:06

Wont get my hopes up too much then! Think baby might be in the right place as its awkward getting up/sitting down now!

Pains have eased off a bit...... perhaps it was just to kick me into packing my hospital bag!

haventgotaclue1 · 20/11/2014 20:26

Cake and Brew for you Horis Smile...I won't bank on sniffing on the sage oil the MW gave me as doing anything very soon then!

I can sympathise with you re your DH being "helpful"....mine decided that it would be a great idea to change out the leaking kitchen tap whilst I was trying to cook the roast dinner on Sunday Hmm. I ended up being quite blunt and telling him that whilst I really appreciated him wanting to get it sorted, starting it whilst I was in the middle of sorting dinner was NOT the right time! (Tap still not replaced....maybe I lost my chance?!)

Ihatechoosingausername · 20/11/2014 20:26

I feel really disappointed in my cervix :( (Never thought i'd say that!)

The baby's ready, the MW could feel her head against the vaginal wall. My cervix is the one thing holding everything back, I think.

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 20/11/2014 20:29

Due date is today but having and ELCS tomorrow. Hope I don't go into labour overnight! Expecting a very big baby so am intrigued at how big it actually is. I'm thinking 11lbs 3 Shock good luck to all those overdue.

Vijac · 20/11/2014 21:52

Good luck lady dolly. Try and stay relaxed if you can. You'll be meeting baby really soon!

excitedforbaba · 20/11/2014 22:01

Good luck tomorrow whenwillwe

ihatechoosing I'm disappointed in mine too! I'm back for my last attempt at a sweep in the morning I hope they can do it or there's at least some signs of progress!

lady hopefully something will happen for you before Sunday it's good that you are 2cm already yourself it will most likely mean you won't need too much intervention! Where as I wasn't even a millimetre dilated on Monday so chances are I'll need lots of encouragement to get anything moving on Tuesday

Thehedgehogsong · 21/11/2014 00:49

Argh I've been having contractions since 5:30. Every 3-10 mins, getting slowly stronger, but I am just sulking because I know it's another tease. I can't sleep! Baby is burrowing down and I feel like my pelvis is splitting open! Angry usually a hot bath stops the pains but not tonight!

excitedforbaba · 21/11/2014 03:01

Oooh hedgehog this could be it for u! I really hope it is! Good luck Smile

Arkkorox · 21/11/2014 04:03

Wide awake and worrying about my hospital appointment.... Not even really sure why? Glad I'm getting checked really though cause baby's been a little bit quieter the last couple of days. Still moving but not kicking as such. Probably run out of room!

excitedforbaba · 21/11/2014 04:15

ark I'm wide awake too lying in bed trying to drop off but MN always distracts me!

I had my 40 week appointment on Mon at 40+2 and all they done was check pee, blood pressure, offered me a sweep which I took but you don't have to, done a quick scan and then offered me an induction date.

Hopefully you have a positive experience at your appointment, just remember you don't need to agree to a sweep or even an induction date unless you want to. And ask all the questions you can think off
