Oops, sorry. Thread really moved on Xmas Blush

I know what you mean about the temptation to get festive already daholster - I keep looking up where I can get non-alcoholic mulled wine; I need some Wine

On an entirely different note, what are you all getting for Christmas? I usually ask for clothes, but there doesn't seem to be much point this year. There's not even much point asking for baby things, as family/friends have given us a lot of stuff already and I don't think I've been a good enough girl this year to warrant Santa bringing me a £1,000 pram Xmas Grin

Hidingthefear · 24/11/2014 14:07

My step mum usually buys me clothes but she said herself there wasn't much point. I said she could buy me a poncho coz you're never to big for one of those lol

most people have said they will give me vouchers so that I can treat myself to what I want. might be a bit dull opening them instead of prezzies but DH has said he will take me to the Trafford Centre so that we can spend them while were off if i'm feeling up to it.

haha funny about the pram, although if it's from somewhere in particular you could ask for vouchers so that you can put it towards the pram cost?

smogsville · 24/11/2014 14:25

River - yes we did consider that but either way I'm not sure it would go down well at the little church primary he will probably be going to!

The whole pram thing is clearly ridiculous to say nothing of spiritualists IMHO - without wishing to offend anyone on the thread of course Shock

Christmas - I want hundreds of vouchers for foot massages! I had one a few months ago and it was incredible. I'm not really one for massages or treatments except the necessary eg dealing with hair but this was extraordinary. Also it's just a nice excuse to lie down for a while in a robe and listen to whale music. Everyone who already has one child will understand the value of this!

I'm actually reading a book with a Mexican Jesus (hey Zeus) in it. (fiction)

FreedomHuntress · 24/11/2014 14:51

Re Xmas, we don't really do much for adults now - I'm old enough and financially comfortable enough to buy what I need/want as and when. We do a little something from Santa (otherwise DS would wonder why we didn't get anything! Must have been naughty!) and something bigger IF we need it. I don't really want much any more, trying to be more minimalist (us, not DC). Though feel free to do a whip around and get me a www.mini.co.uk/model-range/countryman/, thanks!!!

daholster · 24/11/2014 14:55

RiverRocks my mum got me this... She lives in Rochester. Don't know if you can buy it online. I hope so because I had mixed feelings when she gave it to me. I'd been to a HUGE Tesco who said they didn't do it so I decided I'd have to buy some red non alcoholic wine and mull it with the spices myself. Then she gave me this and I was so excited but a bit of me very selfishly thought 'and you only bought ONE?!' Blush

Wow thread has really moved on.. I'm finding it tough finding time to log on and keep up with work etc at the moment... retail at christmas time is fun isn't it!? Wink I'm half way through a 7 day stint..but I've got Fri, Sat, Sun off this weekend so that'll be nice. Also it was my birthday yesterday! Worked 9-5 which sucked, but went for a nice meal with lots of friends afterwards which was great fun. Strange to think I'll be a mummy on my next one!

Hope everyone is doing well. Nice to see more boys appearing.. yay for team blue! Grin

I'm 18+4 now and haven't felt any movements, but placenta is anterior, so not expecting much. Apart from the bump, I'm feeling pretty un-pregnant right now..which is not very reassuring! Confused

Can't believe some of you have gotten pushchairs and furniture already - you are so organised (and clearly not as poor as me lol)! I'm definitely waiting till after christmas..hoping for some January sales as well ha.

FreedomHuntress · 24/11/2014 15:30

Happy Birthday, LadyNovember (ah, username explained now!).

This is DC2 so I do have most of what I need, but will need a few new things, and yes, waiting til January and hoping for some bargains in the sales.

Happy birthday for yesterday LadyNovember Smile

I'm also waiting a while yet to buy a pram, but we have bought a chest of drawers for our until-now completely empty spare room. Will hold off to get the cot for a while longer, but the chest of drawers felt neutral so less scary to buy now! And it's nice to have somewhere to put our baby bits as we acquire them. So far we have been given a few sleepsuits and lots of lovely homemade knitted bits, and I've got lots of sample sized bits from my Bounty and Emma's Diary packs. I think once we've had the anomaly scan we will feel more comfortable about buying things.

Happy belated birthday LadyNovember

I normally get clothes but I also don't see the point this year but I do need a new dressing gown as mine is about 100 years old and my DH says I am getting new slippers whether I like it or not as mine are big rabbits at the minute and don't really fit on the stairs so he says he is buying me some granny slippers so I don't fall down the stairs Blush

I've not felt anything yet either but I have an anterior placenta so could be why I've not felt anything.

Happy birthday LadyNovember! Mine is Sunday, I like weekend birthdays :)

Christmas and birthdays are awesome! We don't have a lot of money so don't buy things I want at all!! I've asked for new running shoes as mine are falling apart and will still fit after baby! My mum will buy me some maternity clothes, I've found a cute top with a baby's face poking out and a parkrun fleece. I've also asked for greyhound earrings, music, boots and afternoon tea :) I always get bits from my mum like socks and some kind of Starbucks cup with bits in and bits from the Bodyshop.

I was getting excited but now I'm just worrying, so hoping for better than expected news Wednesday so I can start to look forward to Christmas and enjoy my birthday!

I would have thought you could make your own mulled wine with normal wine, as long as you don't add spirits most of the alcohol burns off anyway. I am honestly say I've never heard of alcohol free wine.

daholster · 24/11/2014 16:33

It tastes nothing like wine!!! But some of the red ones taste different enough to grape juice that in a wine glass it makes a nice change for a drink. It's wine with the alcohol removed, believe it or not, but is a quarter of the price! And very low calorie.

daholster · 24/11/2014 16:34

Oh, and happy birthday to you for the weekend cinnamon! Hopefully Weds will be better than you are expecting.

minipie · 24/11/2014 16:58

Afternoon everyone! I can't keep up so haven't read everything...

I see we have more boys at last Smile

lila my bump looks quite a lot like that at just 21 weeks... god knows what I will look like at 30+

Alcohol free drinks - my recommendation is Becks Blue, it's really good, tastes very similar to the real thing and even DH will drink it! No good for mulled wine though obviously (but I thought mulled wine was ok as the alcohol evaporates off if you cook it long enough).

Happy birthday to ladynovember and cinnamon

I have given in to the shopping and have bought a second hand cocoon for the buggy, a maternity coat, a Beco Gemini sling (failed to win yet another ebay auction so just bit the bullet and ordered one new, they are on offer on Amazon if anyone is interested) and a cotbed and mattress (mothercare sale) Shock an expensive weekend. Holding off on double buggy for now though.

Had a big fight with DH at the weekend as we each think we're working harder/more tired than the other one. I suspect if we're both feeling that way, that actually means we're doing about equal amounts as you always notice what you do more.

Christmas - my family does charity donations, and DH and I have agreed that our present to each other is the new bathroom we're having done, so just DD and DH's family to do. DD will be getting stuff for her new room so just stocking presents I think.

On that note... Anyone got any recommendations for where to buy a really nice Christmas stocking?

Banana Grin at cotton reel baby. That is one of the weirder baby dreams I've heard of! Last time I remember having an awful dream that we'd left DD at nursery and came back and found they just put all the babies on shelves in their car seats and left them there Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 24/11/2014 17:02

I got some glitterberry J2O's half price at Tesco, they are yummy and not as sickly as other flavours!

Lauren82000 · 24/11/2014 18:07

I got asked the dreaded what do you want for Christmas yesterday by MiL. I just kind of looked at her and shrugged. Not a clue what to tell her she said DH had asked for money but she doesn't like doing that as she feels you need something to open.
After thinking about it I think I'm going to ask for an apron. DD has one when we cook and I don't which means I'm usual covered in flour handprints and baking debris. Don't know if that's enough but it is a start.

I'm pretty glad my shopping list is pretty short now, just a few pjs to buy, some books for my nieces, a scarf for my sister and some stocking fillers and I'm done. Did most of it online in October. Blush DD still needs some more but I'm letting DH buy that, I've sorted everyone else. Including his mum and brothers!

BrixtonBunny · 24/11/2014 18:11

Oh my goodness, someone has just started the August bus Shock

So lovely to hear about all the scans, ours is tomorrow morning - can't believe it's finally come round! So excited, can't wait to have another look at blob, who can hopefully finally progress to being a he or she!

I think I can feel some movements, I have done for a while, but more like flutters and pokes rather than actual kicks and rolls. So it will be reassuring to see baby and check all is as it should be (I hope).

Hi all and Happy Birthday to LadyNovember and Cinnamon

Just to say I told DH your DD's name suggestions, smogs and he said they both sounded like good solid names!

So Captain Barnacles is now on our names list Wink
