Thanks all. It's quite exhilarating knowing this one is a boy - I don't feel like such an old hand anymore - back to the drawing board!

Yes sonographer did show us - I was a bit clueless about what I should be looking for! Doh...

smogsville · 23/11/2014 21:20

Btw at 18+4 I really don't feel kicks - a spot of movement for sure from time to time but defo not what I'd call kicks. Was the same with DD who is perfectly healthy.

I think must have a weirdly hollow pelvic region with masses of space so baby doesn't need to pop out - or something. If that's even medically plausible.

FizzyBubbly · 23/11/2014 21:47

Congratulations on the boy smogsville!

Lauren I hopped on the scales this morning and have put on exactly 1 stone so far at 18+3 Shock When I was pregnant with DD I'd only put on 4lbs by 20wks so this has come as a bit of a shock. Started with a BMI of 18.9 so I think I'm at the upper end of suggested guidelines for that BMI range.

Will start the healthy eating tomorrow (she says after demolishing a Chinese followed by several mini daim bars!)

Hidingthefear · 23/11/2014 21:52

Everyone keeps asking me have felt it move yet and I'm beginning to feel worried that I haven't. Or maybe I just haven't noticed which is what I'm hoping it is. Got my scan on Thursday this week and I'm so nervous, possibly even more so that my 1st scans. I'm just putting it down to being my first time so maybe I'm not tuned in to the movements.
pram got delivered with furniture this weekend so me and DH did the room today. Figured I'd do it before I got too heavy and useless.
Im not supersticions but it's still annoying when people say Ooo you should have your pram in the house until it's born. Like im a bad person for having it delivered or I want something to go wrong. People should think before they speak, especially where us emotional preggo types are concerned haha.

Thanks! I'm only 21+3 so think it's going to be pretty impressive by the end!

Excitingly DP managed to feel him move on Saturday, I made him have a chat to him and he got a response!

We do have a lot of boys now don't we? My friends nct group were all boys and the last 3 births I know of were boys. The most recent name was Torin, which I think I like.

Happy Monday everyone!!!!

smogsville · 24/11/2014 07:49

Hiding please don't worry about not feeling anything, I've had the odd flutter that I think is baby, but quite honestly I wouldn't swear to it.

Defo didn't have anything with DD until after 20 wks when bump started showing. Saw baby yesterday at 18+4 and he was wriggling around like a maniac. Perhaps we both just have thick skin?

Not put on much weight yet (a guess - we don't have scales) and still in normal clothes, this preg is just like the last one in that respect.

BMI as far as I remember it was 22 or 23 at booking in when they worked it out so could be a factor in not gaining much thus far - ie I am a very normal middle of the road weight for my height. Also I've had no sickness or nausea so no need to snack on toast/ crackers etc to keep it at bay.

Feeling quite emosh about having a boy today and worrying about him in a way I wouldn't be if it had been a girl - because it feels new and different. DH has v sensibly pointed out that him having a willy makes no diff but I can't wait to get him out and check he's ok now!

smogsville · 24/11/2014 08:53

Oh and en route back from scan yesterday we were coming up with potential names and DD said 'what about Jesus' bless her (we'd been at church in the morning). Her other suggestion was Captain Barnacles (from the Octonauts).

Thanks all for your congratulations!

I'm also 19 weeks today Smile

Had a really vivid dream last night where I gave birth and it was all actually fine, I felt ok afterwards and my tummy was nice and flat (but when I looked under my top it looked awful)... but the baby was a cotton reel Confused. I was proudly showing it off to anyone who would pay me attention - this little cotton reel that I'd apparently given birth to.

daholster · 24/11/2014 10:28

Oh banana!!! Our brains do do funny things don't they... Hope it didn't upset you!

smogsville · 24/11/2014 10:35

Squatting - swooshing is a good way of putting it.

chiliplant · 24/11/2014 10:42

Hello all, hope you are all well.
Its scan day today!! Nervous but excited!
I reckon a cotton reel would be easier t pass!x

Hidingthefear · 24/11/2014 10:43

thanks smogsville, I think when I see it on the scan on Thursday i'll feel better, providing all is well. Although my Dh says i always air on the pesimistic side, which is probably true. He's deffo the more positive thinker!

what an odd dream banna, i blame the hormones! at least you've had a scan so you know its a baby and not a cotton real :)

Didn't upset me at all, just found it quite bizarre! Glad to know it's an actual human baby in there! Grin I did think to myself when I woke up that it probably hurt less than expected because it wasn't actually a baby...

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 24/11/2014 12:11

Happy Monday all!

Congrats smogs! And the jesus suggestion is bloomin' brilliant! Made me chuckle

Hiding I'm 18+1 and think I've felt one or two flutters but mine has been right down low, just above my pubic bone so I'm not sure if that's normal or if it's wind. Our pram is being delivered on Wednesday, I hadn't heard the superstition about bringing a buggy in to the home before baby is born? So what about people who already have a buggy from a previous DC? The way I see it, I'm trying to stay positive after the MMC in June and buying stuff is helping!!

Great bargains mel DH and I went to a nearly new sale and got 40 items of neutral clothing bits (all from next, jojo maman bebe, mamas and papas) for 13! I also bought a mamas and papas starlite swing on eBay for 16 (costs 90 new) I really love a bargain!

squatting thanks for the info re the pump. That's the one I'd been eyeing up so thank you for that!! Will keep an eye out. Anyone else got any good black friday sale deals? Mothercare's black Friday sale has started already. Also, not black Friday related but if you sign up to the Kiddicare mums group (in store or online) they send you a book of vouchers for money off (10 off when you spend a certain amount etc), free tea/coffee/softdrinks in store, money of reusable nappies etc.

20 week scan 1 week today. Luckily we've got another 8am slot so no waiting around in the morning. We do however have a funeral the same afternoon (DH's uncle) and so now I'm worried that it'll be sods law we have bad news and then have the funeral to contend with ... DH won't let us change it though. Must stay positive, must stay positive... might have to go and buy lots more stuff!!

18+1

TinyTear · 24/11/2014 12:23

All normal, but child uncooperative so have to go back in 3 weeks for the face, lips and heart... Even went for a coffee and a doughnut but she didn't move round...

But I am not worried as my detailed FMC scan at 12 w said heart normal and we heard the HB today and saw it beating, just not in detail.

TinyTear · 24/11/2014 12:23

20+2

cinnamongreyhound · 24/11/2014 12:33

Not so bad having go back and see your baby again TinyTear, glad all is well. I am amazed that scan equipment is so sophisticated that you can see each chambers of the heart and all the valves opening and closing.

daholster · 24/11/2014 12:56

Mm coffee and doughnut...

We are stuck in the house today next to the fire because the plumber has cone to replace some heating pipes. Tempting to accompany the fire with mince pies, hot chocolate and Christmas music!!! Not til Dec 1st... But temptation is huge...

Back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off. Have had a lovely time, shame to go back but at least I actually feel I've had a rest, which is amazing.

RiverRocks · 24/11/2014 13:23

That's so cute smogsville.

You could try the alternative pronunciation 'Hay-soos' Xmas Wink ?

Or point her in the direction of Charlie and Lola, or Peppa and George, if you want to be boring Xmas Grin

daholster · 24/11/2014 13:30

tiny congrats on the scan!

Hidingthefear · 24/11/2014 13:31

OneDayLikeThis2013 i'm not even sure i've felt flutters, I think i just tried to convince myself i had. Roll on Thursday when I can see babe for myself! I don't believe in superstition or luck anyway it just bugs me how people ask a questions and then throw their opinions at you, as if we don't have enough to contend with eh. If my baby had something "wrong" with it, it's not going to have been caused by my Pram being in the spare room! and like my Nan said, it's all nonsense, and she didn't get rid of her existing pram each time she was expecting otherwise what would she have done with the current baby!
one of the girls at work said she kept her pram at her MIL's until she came home with the baby because of superstition. She also reckons that a spiritualist told her that I was pregnant :/ (lucky guess if you ask me, most people know someone, who knows someone who is expecting at some point)
Oh dear tinytear sounds like when mine wouldn't roll over to have the nuchal fold done. they had me tossing and turning, and drinking more, and emptying my bladd and still no luck. So are you having another appointment to have those things checked then?

amazing isn't is cinnamon i remember being shocked that i could see baby's brain on the scan at 13 weeks.
