Ds2 hated the pushchair for a few months so my sling was invaluable. Well worth checking out victoriaslinglady, she has very reasonably priced slings and she's very helpful too!

TinyTear · 14/11/2014 20:24

I only got a nappy bin after weaning.

BonjourMinou · 14/11/2014 20:58

Baby monitors usually have nightlight and room thermometer integrated in them. We do have a (cheap) bath thermometer which was nice for reassurance at first, but to be honest you will be able to tell if the temperature is right. I think you have the basics down, I would recommend one of these though, DD slept so much better in this when she was teeny. xxx

cinnamongreyhound · 14/11/2014 21:17

Just seen an article saying Kate is 16weeks pregnant if it's april it's the very end :)

ChickenMe · 14/11/2014 21:35

She could be on here cinammon (she wouldn't be but I bet she would secretly like to be)

FizzyBubbly · 14/11/2014 21:38

We did the opposite to you then TinyTear - got rid of nappy bin after weaning as found newborn poos aren't that whiffy but weaned toddler poos stink! Or it could just be that we have a very smelly DD Blush

Ah crap, Kate is same as me then. I swear I will change our name if she picks the same one. Thinking maybe I shouldn't share my name thoughts on here in case she nicks them, I bet she is on here. Quite possibly on this very thread.

cowbiscuits · 14/11/2014 22:04

I got given one of those "nappy disposal systems". I could never quite figure it out how to use it and newborn nappies don't smell much anyway. I couldn't really see the advantage over a bin with a lid, it just seemed more faff. So didn't use it. I gave it away on freecycle to a mum-to-be, I wonder if she used it!

CherryLips1980 · 14/11/2014 22:45

I wouldn't be without our nappy bin now! A friend gave it to me after I'd had DD, I would never have thought to get one but it's been brilliant (for a nappy bin...!). We have the Tommee Tippee monitor which has a thermometer and night light on the main unit. Like another poster, we have two changing mats, one upstairs in our room and one downstairs in her room. The upstairs one (along with a fresh sleep suit/vest, pack of wipes/bags/nappies) has been invaluable when doing 2am nappy changes. I bought bloody loads of muslins because I read everywhere how useful they were. I keep one in the car for wiping the windscreen, the horse has got two at the stables for wiping her face/giving her a hot cloth 'bath'. The dog has one tied to his crate that I have sat on (so it smells of me) because he is a bit of a fairy at times about being left on his own and he settles better with it. I think DD lay on one once when I was being a bit precious about putting her on the floor... Confused

ChickenMe I don't have a onesie. I think I'm missing out, I want one! I got dressed in the end, DD is at nursery in a verrrrryyyy naice area (we're the token 'lower income' family I think Wink ). They handed DD over to me with the words 'she's been doing LOADS of walking today....' 'Oh! Good! Yay! Clever DD!' '....but only sideways. And we had to take her out of the ball pool because she kept throwing the balls at (and managing to throw them so they hit) the nursery staff'. [oops] I walked off quite glad I'd got dressed after that report. Blush

Lauren82000 · 14/11/2014 23:01

Cherry did you not use it as a light blanket? Or a cover when breast feeding in front of grandparents? Very versatile. Don't think I ever used them for sick, mainly to wipe the couch after I had accidentally squirted milk 3ft across it. (I made a game of it in the end see how far it would go and measure it. Think my personal best was well over a metre. Yes I did get bored at home far too easily!)

BrixtonBunny · 14/11/2014 23:17

This is so helpful, thanks everyone!! You are all brilliant fountains of knowledge.I'm going to read back again tomorrow and take proper notes of everything...Grin

Congratulations mamabear0315.

BananaToast · 15/11/2014 03:56

Congrats mamabear! Can't wait to find out what we're having!

Floppypotato · 15/11/2014 06:17

Phew! Caught up! Congratulations to those who've found out the sex!

I wonder what Kate's MN would be if she was on here!! Hmm

I'm pretty relieved she's probably due towards the end of April rather than at the beginning! Though I'm sure we've all been told quite a few times by people "Oooh you could have the baby on the same day as Kate"!!!

We are away for the weekend and I woke up at 4:30 am. Noticed in the last few days to have started not sleeping great... Only 20 weeks on Monday!!

TheBooMonster · 15/11/2014 07:09

Ugh! Left the house almost an hour ago to get the bus into the city with enough time for a cheeky Starbucks before work... Bus arrived about 10 minutes ago and was a completely different service to the 2 that had failed to turn up before that >.> I suspect this day is going to go terribly already. My hips hurt from standing (only have to do that until 6:15 this evening) I feel decidedly unwell from missing a breakfast that only had a 50% chance of staying down anyway #whinebitchcomplain.

We didn't have one of those nappy bin systems, kind of wished for one over the summer once she was weaned because gag nasty. Took to using the swing top in the Arctic cloakroom as an improvised nappy bin.

Yep, weaning poos stink to high heaven. That's when it needs containing

daholster · 15/11/2014 08:10

Have a STINKING head cold... One of those where your face and hurts and your eye sockets ache. Dd has been very good and gone downstairs with dh with no fuss so I get chance for 30 mins of feeling sorry for myself in bed!!! No idea what this baby is doing to my immune system. I'm sure I wasn't ill so often last time, this is at least my third infection in 16 weeks! Best find out that honey and lemon again and hope upon hope dd doesn't get it...

18+4

ChickenMe · 15/11/2014 08:42

Boo daholster I share your pain as I have a cold too. Wail.
Was going to come on here and ask for any natural remedies. I'm enjoying honey and lemon and herbal teas. OH is not enjoying me snoring.

Ahh! Congrats mamabear! Mel, I know what you mean, I'm utterly convinced this baby is a boy - if they hand 'him' over and DP says 'it's a girl!' I won't believe him....

I'm not at work today, woke up at half 6 being sick plus throat/cold is still bad. So DP (we work together) has gone in instead of me. And he's walked the dog before he went so I don't actually have to leave the house today. This is the nicest thing he's done for me this pregnancy! Hasn't stopped the dog being a pest though. [sigh]
