Crikey! My next midwife appointment is 24th December when I will be 27 weeks as I had a choice of Christmas Eve or New Years Eve. I see one next week on the 4th at my scan appointment along with the consultant at the hospital though. After that, not sure what will happen as classed as high risk and consultant led due to my placenta abruption last time.

MrsJonSnow · 29/10/2014 21:37

m33r What is it that your mother imagines will happen to the baby in that week? Other than the 12 week scan, I think the either dates are basically administrative. I don't think there's any great risk-factor that is going to be prevented by seeing your mw. If your scan was all fine then your mw will probably just measure your bump etc.

m33r · 29/10/2014 21:48

I'm not sure mrsjon she said something about making sure my baby got all it's checks at the right time. I kinda felt that especially before 24weeks there's nothing they can find that they can do anything about. You have totally reassured me that my instincts are right and that it's no big deal to put this appt back one measely week. Flowers

coastergirl · 29/10/2014 21:48

theone I'm the same. had 2 early scans at the EPAU due to bleeding then my 12 week scan, then there's big gaps without seeing anyone. finding it a bit hard personally because I've no way of knowing if things are ok.

fishfingerSarnies · 29/10/2014 23:04

Scan tomorrow, looking forward to finding out what I'm having, nervous though about all the checks.
Wouldn't worry about pushing mw appointment back, I don't have another one untill January.
have spent all day clearing our my flat, about 15 bin bags of crap just from my room. Determined to get the place really organised as really it's too small for another baby, trying to channel some minimalism into my life.

Jannywannywoohoo · 30/10/2014 00:56

Thought it had gone a bit quiet, caught up now! So many scans taking place, glad all is going well. It's all starting to get very real!
On the subject of nappies I was just planning on using disposable.... (Can't believe some random stranger could be so rude!) But I'm clueless as to where you actually dispose of them?! Our bins only get changed every fortnight and the thought of having a shit load of nappies festering away for two weeks bothers me! Please enlighten me Blush

SurfsUp1 · 30/10/2014 01:20

Janny Normally you put a disposable nappy into a nappy bag (you roll the nappy up and lock it with the tabs first) and then that goes in the normal rubbish. If the bags don't burst it's generally not too stinky. It does take up a lot of bin space though!

junkfoodaddict · 30/10/2014 02:56

Well, that's me up from 1:25am!! Jumped out of bed with that all too familiar feeling of a water infection brewing (I can't stand being next to people when I have one!), indigestion wind and then an hour later, diarrhoea! At least baby is kicking and wriggling after spedning the entire day seemingly asleep!! And now DS aged 2 is cough, cough, coughing in bed. Got the fright of my life as I am downstairs on the laptop and I had left the monitor on!!

Pinksun12 · 30/10/2014 04:46

Ha! Found you again!
Good luck with the scan today fishfinger!
Hope you're feeling better soon junk and that you get some shut eye even if it's just a few minutes.

Nothing much to report here, baby is kicking away, 19+4 today, scan next Wednesday. I'm just so hormonal lately, broke down in tears at work yesterday when nursery called to ask me to take my youngest to the doctor as his skin is infected and it made me feel like a mega bad neglectful mother (FYI: it wasn't 'infected' by the way). I'm one of the very few full time working mums at nursery and yesterday at pick up another mum told me that my youngest had been asking for me the whole time she'd been there (err... 10 min tops?) . But she's also the one who kept wondering out loud how my children would cope when I took the job a few months ago. I shouldn't really take these comments to heart and people don't even mean it I'm sure, but I'm so unstable it just makes me cry. (But I also cried at Monsters Inc!)

m33r · 30/10/2014 07:04

Good luck today fish hope your LO co-operates and gets those legs open!

SurfsUp1 · 30/10/2014 07:20

That's no good Junk! What's a water infection?

Hope you're feeling better soon. Flowers

M27J5M · 30/10/2014 07:43

I couldn't leave last thread unfinished and had to go finish it lol

SCAN DAT TODAY Smile YAY

M33r I seen mw at 16 weeks and see her again at 22 weeks! Don't know when I've to see her after that but I do have growth scan consultant at 27 weeks, should've been 28 but that's Christmas Day!

fishfingerSarnies · 30/10/2014 09:12

Hey anyone interested in nappies in the UK, look up the great British nappy hunt on Facebook, there's a competition going on today with loads of nappies to be won.

Good luck fellow scan people today.

pinkandstripey · 30/10/2014 09:44

Have posted this on fb too...

Most random post of the day... I have an avent niplette - apparently it's a solution for inverted nipples for breast feeding. I was sent it as a random substitution (I ordered bottles - I always wondered if it was some weird judgement on bottle feeding) and they retail at about 30 quid. So if anyone would like it, has use of it or maybe just wants to do some weird suction thing it's yours for postage...

junkfoodaddict · 30/10/2014 09:46

Surfsup1 a UTI - Urinary Tract Infection. I am prone to them and this is the second one this pregnancy although the pain and discomfort is a lot worse due to the baby pressing down.

BlueberryWafer · 30/10/2014 10:58

Is there a fb group?

M27J5M · 30/10/2014 11:45

Yeah blueberry, pm me your email address and I'll get an invite sent toyouSmile

Morning all, especially those fellow scan-date buddies amongst you!

Had mine this morning - and got called in early of all things! Everything fine with baby, she stayed away from THAT area as we said we don't want to know what it is (and told her that we promised not to be offended if she called our baby "it"!). The relief is obviously huge, especially as DH and I both work for a childrens' heart charity so have seen far too often how devastating congenital heart defects can be Sad.

The only thing the scan did show was that I have placenta praevia - it's not actually overlying the cervix but it is quite close. I have to go back for another scan at 32 weeks to see if it's moved, if not I will be scanned again at 36 weeks, and if it still hasn't budged then my decision about whether to try for a vbac will be taken out of my hands as I will have no choice but to have a section. DH is gutted though as the management plan we've been given includes a very firm instruction not to have sex before the next scan - and that's not until the end of January!! Shock. I guess I'll just have to make it up to him in other ways........ Blush.

Speaking of mw appointments - I saw mine at 16w but now don't see her again until 28w as it's my 2nd DC so don't get the 24w one. Not that bothered, except in theory I'm supposed to hand my MATB1 form into work at 25w so I'll either have to hope they will be flexible with that, or text the mw and ask her to fill one in for me and leave it at reception so I can pick it up.

Right, off to keep my promise to myself now I know baby is ok, and start looking for shiny new cloth nappies for this one and a buggy board for DS Grin.

m33r · 30/10/2014 13:29

Keeper oh my! That is long time! wowsers! Good luck! Hope you enjoy the shopping; it's such fun when you've allowed yourself to relax... even if just for a day or so!

Thanks all for reports on when MW appts are; feel thoroughly reassured!

BlueberryWafer · 30/10/2014 13:33

Thanks M27 I just sent you one Smile

MGFM · 30/10/2014 13:51

A couple of weeks ago I think I posted about some pain I was getting in my right hand rib area which then stretched round to my back. Anyway it has been getting progressively worse so I went back to the Doctor. Saw a different one this time and she wasnt convinced it was just pregnancy stuff so I had some blood tests done. Results back today, it would seem the results are outside of the expected limits. Basically there is more than likely something wrong with my gall bladder. It could be stones, it could be inflammation. Or it could be something different. I have never had any health problems so this is abit of a new one for me. My GP is trying to get me squeezed in for a scan to take a look. It is a little scary as the worst case scenario is having it taken out. If I wait till after the birth I wont be able to breast feed becuase of the morphine. I dont like the idea of surgery during the pregnancy. FIngersa crossed it is just inflammation and nothing more serious. I knew this pain couldnt be just pregnancy stuff. The lesser scenario is that I simply wont be able to eat any junk food! As high fat foods make it worse. :( anyway, other than that, I am feeling the baby more and more. Hopefully soon DH will feel him from the outside!

fourmonthstogo · 30/10/2014 14:16

keeper I suggest you phone the midwife and ask for your matb1 now you've had the scan-that's what I had to do. If you lodge it with your employer too late it can cause problems with the smp.
MGFM sounds v worrying, Fingers crossed it is nothing too serious.

M27J5M · 30/10/2014 14:45

Had 20week scan and all is fine :) can relax more now

M27J5M · 30/10/2014 14:46

MGFM I hope it is just inflammation and they get you sorted out soon
