Hey fruity I'm a pram and nappy novice too! We ended up going to a big mothercare and road testing a few.... Definitely a good idea! We're liking the icandy peach although we probably won't buy until January time. I suppose everyone has their own individual needs.
lotsoftoast will add you to fbook I'm sure.... You need to PM your Facebook email address.
Good luck with your scan this week Smile

M27J5M · 01/11/2014 11:15

Fruity if you pm me your email address I'll send you invite Smile

Janny - the peach does look lovely, I think I might be falling for the bee3...but worried it's not enough for the pfb and that i need something more substantial?

FruitySalad · 01/11/2014 12:06

Misty - you are wise (and local!) I am going to pop round there this pm and will report back on progress made!

3isthemajicnumber · 01/11/2014 12:35

Hi all,
Well, I finally feel able to introduce myself after lurking for weeks (make that months, I just knew I was pregnant about 36 hours after conception but have been nervous about viability after a previous 2nd tri mmc).
I'm due DC2 around the 9th/10th March.
Been feeling lots of movement the past week, so feeling reassured all is ok and being a lot more public about it - not that I can hide it, I feel massive this time round.
Had 20 week scan a couple of weeks ago and decided not to find out girl/boy, so will be a nice surprise for us and big-sister-in-waiting!

M27J5M · 01/11/2014 17:46

Welcome wedont Smile

Lifeisabeach · 01/11/2014 20:20

Welcome wedontdoprincess

Lovely to read about all the scans! I've been on hol in Devon with hardly any phone signal all week, so just catching up now.

Definitely feeling movement now, it's become a lot more obvious in the last week. Scan is on Wednesday, still not decided whether to ask the gender.

Think I might have convinced OH to agree to sell our 2 old pushchairs and get a new one. I'm loving the look of the baby jogger city mini, have been reading reviews and it sounds fab.

littlemissy12345 · 01/11/2014 23:13

Welcome to all the newbies. I fell out with my pushchair after the wheel dropped off when I was getting on a train so I'm looking for a new one (likely second hand). I love the uppababy Vista but may be very tempted by the baby jogger mini city. My only concern is the lack of parent facing seat.

Fell off my bike today - so think that's going away for the next 5 months. Nothing bad but I feel a bit like I've been hit by a bus now! And I think I've pulled a ligament in my uterus area which is great. But baby is kicking away (might have something to do with my haribo addiction) so very reassuring.

m33r · 02/11/2014 08:06

Hi everyone. Hope you're all enjoying the weekend. We had our private scan yesterday morning and baby m33r is a little boy! Hurrah!

bouncesky · 02/11/2014 08:26

Hi everyone, I was on the first few threads and recognise quite a few names on here Smile I have been absent for quite a while as got married, went on honeymoon and then have been crazy in work since getting back! My dates and the 8 week scan put me due on 3rd March but 12 weeks scan reckons 24th feb. We are having a boy, which came as quite a shock as they are quite rare in my family!! Hopefully I'll begin keeping up with the threads again now!

m33r · 02/11/2014 16:08

I just ate a mcflurry read online it can be bad owing to bad hygiene in cleaning machines (I only googled as I thought 'how funny I like mc flurries but not me whippy' then wondered what was the difference was). Can I assume I'll be fine or should I be asking for blood tests?

Thinking about every little thing I eat / touch / do is positively exhausting! Sad

FruitySalad · 02/11/2014 16:14

So, reporting back on pram progress. Independent shop was very helpful and in the running is the cameleon, uppababy vista and baby jogger. The uppababy has no end of gadgets and is very clever and thought out, but I prefer the chassis of the cameleon and think it has a sleeker style, tricky decision.

My friend raves about the baby jogger and insisted on demonstrating how easy it was to fold, about 100 times, pretty nifty, I need to do more research!

One decision done and dusted is the highchair. The independent shop is ending their stock of stokke so we nabbed a brand new tripp trapp with newborn kit and baby kit for over a third off - bargain. (Corstorphine pram shop still have a purple, beech and grey for anyone bargain hunting in Edinburgh)

I think I deserve a Brew

fishfingerSarnies · 02/11/2014 16:24

Oh m33r I really wouldn't think about it it's a mc flurry I had never heard of the not eating those sort of icecreams in my first pregnancy when I might have listened to it. These days I take very little notice of the guidelines other than everything in moderation. I've been eating runny eggs, rare steaks and even had a little bit of sushi and other than that I can't remember what we should and shouldn't be eating. I wouldn't worry.

pinkandstripey · 02/11/2014 19:41

The mcflurry thing is due to the (miniscule) risk of listeria. I believe listeria manifests itself as flu or extreme sickness, so if you ain't sick, don't worry! I had the rarest steak ever last night, yum :)

MGFM · 02/11/2014 19:48

I think Macdonalds is pretty good when it comes to cleaning their machines. I have had milkshakes and not even worried about it.

MGFM · 02/11/2014 19:51

Janny I don't have any bowel issues at the moment. I am nearly 22 weeks. I have been reading about pregnant women having the same sort of pain and doctors thinking it is gall stones but really it is just pregnancy stuff and goes away. I am going to alter my diet and see if that helps. It hasn't been too bad this weekend. We shall see what happens!

theonewiththenoisychild · 02/11/2014 19:58

hi everyone. will catch up soon but my pram arrived yesterday :) so happy with it. we were due to go to a fireworks display and i had a anxious day hoping i wouldnt be out when it arrived. oh put the pram together before we went out and when i got home i got to have a good play with it. so even tho i have ds's infant carseat im now thinking of getting a maxi cosi capriofix carseat to go with it Grin even stingey oh isnt moaning about it so must be good idea. we now have a mattress for the cot and moses basket and i have a breastfeeding pillow Smile

m33r · 02/11/2014 21:26

Thanks guys re McDonald's.

I'm having an awful day...

Following my McDonald's meltdown, DH and I dtd with him on top in missionary. I worry that I could have harmed my baby especially since I am rhesus negative. Could the 'trauma' have cAused me to damaged the baby?

I am also beside myself that DH is going away for 3 nights (he goes away semi-regularly and I'm usually perfectly fine). I feel like my hormones have gone wild. I am irrationally worried about my LO. I need to calm down. Do others feel like this?

It's got worse since I got the gender.

Going to call mw tomorrow (and also double check that putting my appt off a week is ok - yes! That stress is also back). I'm actually losing it... Sad

3isthemajicnumber · 02/11/2014 21:59

M33r I'm loosing it too. My hormones are crazy. I've been in a grump all day with dh. Not sure why.
Dtd should not cause any problems at all for lo. I'm rhesus neg as well and I don't think it makes a bit of difference.
If you are worried about your appointment call the midwife and check to put your mind at rest so you can stop stressing.
Enjoy your 3 days on your own and have a proper slob out or get your friends over for take away. Telly to yourself for a bit sounds amazing!

Also pram wise I lost a post a while back and didn't bother repost but I've bought a city jogger mini double and I LOVE it. Although it's not parent facing it's got a nice big window to look through. I'm chuffed to bits with it. I hate that it's in the loft ha ha.

SurfsUp1 · 02/11/2014 23:01

m33r I agree with pinkandstripey. The worrying will do you more harm than the food in all likelihood!
So far this pregnancy, I've had sashimi, some fabulous soft cheeses, rare steak, a glass of vino every week or so, salad I didn't personally disinfect and probably a dozen other things that I could worry about (but I don't).

I only know one person IRL who gave up alcohol completely during pregnancy and I don't know a single child who has any issues from it. I've also ever heard of one woman (a friend of a friend) who actually had a baby who was effected by a food-born bacteria (toxoplasmosis). Honestly, it's fine to be more careful than normal, but there's no need to get freaked out by it. You and you baby will be just fine!!

SurfsUp1 · 02/11/2014 23:04

And you can't harm your baby by having sex unless your Dh has a 2' penis Grin Blush

PickledPorcupine · 03/11/2014 01:34

Hello all, I've just spent a very jet lagged hour catching up. My scan is late afternoon, but in my jet lagged head it's in 2 hours so I'm sat up feeling baby wriggle listening to dh snore his head off! Why can men just sleep and sleep?

Will make an effort to get on my laptop at some point this week and join the fb group.

How is everyone doing on this Monday morning/afternoon for you other side of the world mummies?
