First time mum here, can someone describe bh to me, not sure if I'm getting them or not. 37+3

Dec2013mummy · 31/12/2014 22:48

Well ladies.... Happy new year! Savannah was born at 8.09. We got to hospital and she was born 2 minutes after I got on the bed! Can't actually believe it! No time for any pain relief or anything else for that matter!! Kept shouting in the car that she was in her way out... Turns out I was right! Still in shock! Grin she is currently fast asleep on me. She needed a big of tlc to begin with as she was also in shock at the speed!

Cherrypi · 31/12/2014 23:01

Ooh congratulations that was quick.

SK28 · 31/12/2014 23:14

HUGE congratulations Dec! What a beautiful name. Well done you - hope you are both doing really well. What a lovely way to see in the new year!!

SK28 · 31/12/2014 23:17

Ness thanks for the heads up on the iron tablets. I'll keep your other suggestion in mind if the tablets don't agree with me. I'm hoping to pick them up tomorrow or Friday.

Thanks for the support re NYE party! Everyone is here and it's fine - the food situation hasn't been too difficult or time consuming, but I'm shattered. They are all playing energetic and increasingly drunken games so I'm happily and quietly bouncing on my ball in the corner, parked by the Christmas chocolates Smile

Elizadoesdolittle · 31/12/2014 23:28

Wow dec what brilliant news. huge congratulations. woop.

cheshirem2b · 01/01/2015 04:44

wow! congratulations Dec! Hope you are both doing well v and looking forward to an update (& picture) soon! Happy birthday little one!

BilboTheAlmighty · 01/01/2015 06:24

Well done Dec Oh I'm so happy for you!! What a lovely start to 2015 Smile

ikk I first thought the tightening I was feeling at the top of my bump was baby pushing her whole body (bum first) upward and then rolling down. It happened during a MW appt and she pointed out to me it was a BH! I had no clue. I'm starting to have new ones, which are like period pains. I know they're BH because they're erratic. I was assured, however, that I'll know when real labour is here!

Happy New Year to you and your families ladies! I have a lot of catching up to do! You turn your back for 5 minutes to see to family and friends, and people are giving birth left, right and centre! Grin

Ouch mads ! It's lemon and honey time for you! Start early and you may prevent bigger bugs from developing. And your ds playing with his medical set is so cute: are you hinting at some career for him in the future? Grin

CallingAllEngels · 01/01/2015 08:43

Congratulations dec ! Can't believe how quick it eas!

bilbo - I'm the same with BH. Thought mine were just baby sticking bum out until hospital monitoring on Sunday!

Look after yourself mads and get rested.

Good luck today chesh - will be thinking of you.

Nothing here. Tired and fed up.

40+4

LittlePink · 01/01/2015 08:52

Oh dec that's great news! Well done and big congrats!

Cheshire good luck again for today. Look forwards to news later on.

Still nothing here either calling. Won't be long for you though. Hang in there.

Me, well I've got work to do on that ball to get this baby into a nice position. All I want to do is rest and sleep on the sofa!

HulaHoopsInTheBath · 01/01/2015 09:25

Good Morning and Happy New Year all!!

dec huge congrats to you on the safe (and speedy) arrival of Savanna. What a lovely way to start the year.

cheshire I too am sending lots of positive vibes your way for today.

Getting lots of contractions this end but nothing that seems to be anything, few and far between but stronger and longer than they have been. Not taking my breath away yet or stopping me in my tracks so could still be ages.

little rest on the sofa sounds ideal!
calling really won't be long for you now - hang in there Smile

Due date tomorrow!!!

HenriettaTurkey · 01/01/2015 09:49

Happy New Year everyone: it's finally our month!!!!!! Many congratulations, Dec. GrinGrinGrin

I had my consultant apt & growth scan yesterday. Ds2 is head down, ROA and 7lb 6oz at 36+5.

Previous registrar suggested early induction & early epidural for spd. The registrar yesterday suggested a sweep at 38+5 instead to try & get things going naturally. I like his plan better. Would mean I'd have more options during labour.

Also now on antibiotics for a water infection. Currently in bed feeling very achy as we walked around the shopping centre after the appointment. Or I hobbled on crutches!

Paying for it now but it was good to get out.

36+6. Getting there!

SK28 · 01/01/2015 10:19

Ikkle I'm a first timer too so I'm not totally sure but I think I've had quite a lot of BH - for me it's been entirely painless and usually I don't feel it internally, only if I'm touching bump on the outside. It just goes really hard, often just in one place (top or bottom) rather than all over. I'm 37+3 and this week they've got a bit more painful, I guess just more like tightenings I can actually feel, and more all over.

SK28 · 01/01/2015 10:22

Henrietta I'm desperate to get out of bed as I'm hungry and thirsty but just getting up to go to the ensuite for the loo 15 mins ago was so painful I don't dare now try two flights of stairs! My SPD isn't as bad as yours, I've avoided crutches, but has been painful throughout and this week has gone to another level. I'm not sure if it's just size and weight of bump or whether it's connected to something else making it worse - I've been using a birthing ball a lot this week to help baby position well so did wonder if that's flared it up. Anyway you have my sympathies, I know how horrid it is at this level so can't imagine how awful it must be for you. Mine is at the back of the pelvis, is yours front?

sunshineandbiscuits · 01/01/2015 10:31

Conratulations to dec!!!!GrinGrinGrin. What an amazing New Year! Hope that you and your daughter are having a lovely New Year's Day together and that you are recovering from the super speedy birth!

Good luck today ches. Thinking of you. Wow, the babies are really starting to arrive Smile.

My sympathies to mad - I have a horrible cold this week. I called the GP and she said that I couldn't take anything but paracetamol and recommended honey and lemon! The cold has been making it harder to sleep which is annoying as I was hoping not to be waking up every 45 mins until I actually had a newborn.

Interesting about the bh. I was assuming that she was still sticking her bottom in the air while pushing down on my cervix. They don't hurt but are definitely uncomfortable.

Happy New Year everyone!

39+1

SK28 · 01/01/2015 10:45

Sunshine I'm definitely still getting sticking-out-bottom but I can now tell the difference between that and BH (and checked with mw on Tuesday). When it's baby bum, I can feel the small(ish!) rounded shape, whereas the BH is a bigger area that goes firm. I struggled to tell the difference earlier though so it must be baby size or position that's made it easier. My baby is constantly wriggling its bottom up near my ribs Smile

HenriettaTurkey · 01/01/2015 10:56

Sk28 mine is at the front, between my thighs and in my groin area. I also get sciatica type pain down my legs, which is delightful. Today it is joined by the delight of under bump pain too. The joys!!

Nearly over though, eh?

Have made it down the stairs and I am sat on the sofa while DH plays trains with DS on the floor. I'm looking forward to the point where I can get back on the floor and play with my family again... Just impossible right now.

Wow I sound grumpy! I'm not - I'm quite chilled and enjoying the family time, as 'adapted' as it is.

LittlePink · 01/01/2015 11:24

I never knew that about the bh. Thought baby was sticking his bum out too. My bh tend to go as hard as a rock in one place rather than all over. Just thought it was baby himself sticking out. Interesting.

HulaHoopsInTheBath · 01/01/2015 11:33

I didnt get any BH with my first. I am getting them a lot with this baby since maybe 14 weeks or so, and it feels tight over my whole belly. I would describe it a little like trapped wind, or period pain. They are a lot stronger now a days, I think its contractions I am getting now.

Really feel for you ladies with SPD and colds!

I wonder who is going to be next?!

chiruri · 01/01/2015 11:45

Morning ladies.
Congrats Dec! So exciting!
I have no idea about BH. I always thought that I was feeling baby's bum sticking out, too, but in the past few days I've started paying more attention and maybe it is my whole bump tightening up.
Still getting period-type pains, along with sudden sharp pains deep inside which I'm putting down to baby head-butting my cervix. S/he's getting really strong now; their kicks and wriggles are starting to get very uncomfortable. Everyone getting SPD has my huge sympathy. I'm lucky, as I only get it when I start moving after sitting down for a while, and it goes away quite quickly. Hurts, though!

Ikkleme · 01/01/2015 12:17

The way I would describe my pain in way tmi is liked a uncomfortable tampon- not sure if that's cervix softening and also like I'm going to have bad runs, it lasts for about 20 seconds every now and then, I feel so clueless as we didn't go to any of the classes and sure I would of learnt about this in the classes
