gemmity, what a horrible lady! so pleased for you that your dh is coming this evening. if you get that lady again he can do battle for you. as wuzzle said, stupid cow. i was impressed with your steadfastness, i would have been on the phone to dh even if it was 4am. don't lose heart, my next door neighbour told me that with her first she was contracting like that for 3 days at home before the hospital told her she was dilated enough.
have a great weekend catgirl. victoria sponge cake is worth making the trip for never mind chickens!
wuzzle that's great news on the kitchen front-you're nearly there.
it was v comforting to hear that lots of other people are having grandparent issues and i'm not being entirely heartless. millie, interesting the cultural thing. i do think it makes sense. hopefully i've heard the last about it from my mum for a while, couldnn't stand another row.
nicand2 re spd-the general advice is avoid anything that puts a big strain on the front middle bit of your pelvis-harder said than done i know, things like squatting or as dashingredhead said things that put strain unequally through like leaning on one leg or pushing off to standing using one leg more than the other. last resort-get a scarf and tie it tightly round your hips. otherwise as you all know, i'd swear by osteopathy!

emzickle · 06/10/2006 12:27

Halesworth eh? Well Im being dragged to the Snape Maltings food festival on Saturday night and Sunday, which is in that direction - should be good time, defo lots of yummy things to eat if you and DP and LO are getting bored or run out of cake x

Gemity - don't get too down, your 1cm more dilated than me for a start, weldone you, just rest and wait for your DP x

emzickle · 06/10/2006 12:39

www.snapemaltings.co.uk/events.asp there you go

jmcmugwump · 06/10/2006 12:55

Went to see AN doctor yesterday - everything OK - no further engaged, but he said it probably won't move any further until my waters break, so just a waiting game. Have been getting the clear outs for the last 4 days now, (despite the iron tablets which are supposed to have the opposite effect) usually at 4o'c in the am!! Not sure if it means anything or is just wishful thinking

Finding it very difficult to get out of bed a straighten up on my nighttime toilet trips - OH just laughs as I look like an old woman hobling around the bed - hope it will be easier to get up once the huge bump has gone!!

Got a stinking cold, kept waking up last night to alternate between lockets, gaviscon and vimto and subsequently have just had a nap for an hour and a half this morning - fantastic - am just going to nap whenever I feel I need to to try and get up my strength - don't know how on earth you ladies with LO's already are coping

nowanearlyNicemum · 06/10/2006 14:26

looks like I'm joining Gemmity on the 'bloody inefficient contractions' front. had them all last night but not painfully enough to go to the hospital. this morning has been quite quiet on the ctx front - although I did have a woman reverse into my car this morning which I thought might start things off.

on the plus side, dd went to bed without any fuss last night (albeit considerably later than her normal bedtime) and I've just managed to transfer her (asleep) from her car to her bed so really I should try and get some rest myself.

hope you all have a superb weekend whatever you're up to...

DashingRedhead · 06/10/2006 14:36

nicand2 - I completely forgot to say, whatever you do DON'T PUSH A SUPERMARKET TROLLEY! Personally, with 3 weeks still to go, I'm doing it all online, but it is a number one b*ggeration factor if your pelvic area is feeling bad. I am sure you're right and the baby's position probably doesn't help. Hang in there, not long now.

I can't remember who was talking about a scan showing baby with a fat tummy - I had a 34-week scan to check on a fibroid and had the same thing: normal everywhere except tummy and the sonographer told me not to worry, much more likely that baby's just breathing in. V common apparently, so it might not be that serious.

On a personal note, I just love being on maternity leave !

nicand2 · 06/10/2006 14:54

DashingRedhead - I did internet shopping this week as it was getting a bit of an effort with a toddler. I did one big stock up shop then I intend to go to M & S food tomorrow with DH to choose some tasty ready meals!! have to be careful not to get too used to it though as definately can't afford to shop at M & S usually.

Gemmitygem - Hope things are going well, I think things will start to speed up for you soon. 1st babies can take their time, try and take it easy and keep calm.

I'm going to venture out now it's stopped raining as I've only got flip flops that fit!!

Popsi · 06/10/2006 15:00

Have a nice weekend everyone - hope there's some news for some of you....
Catgirl - I know what you mean about the dates - I'm also due the 31st but imagine if baby came on 31st (Haloween) or the 5th November(Bonfire night)! All stupid DH can say is can we call him Guy?!

nowanearlyNicemum · 06/10/2006 15:16

have just seen this message from 3kids on the statistics thread:

Gingeme · 06/10/2006 15:48

Good afternoon ladies. Had my hair cut this morning ready for my portrait tomm. I sat there the other day working out how many birthdays baby would cover if he came early or late. If he comes on the 6th it will be my birthday if he comes on time not sure if Id want to celebrate Haloween and his bday. If he coms early its a choice of my nephews or my step sons birthday. Well just have to wait and see.
Gemmitygem I reckon your baby will be born Sunday. It sounds so much like my first ds. Contractions started on Wednesday gradualy building, building through the week then I finaly had him 6am Sunday morning.Good luck and as everyone has said try to relax about it. Dh will be back home soon to look after you
Not much planned for us this weekend. My portrait tomm. My parents are coming up Sunday. My grandads been taken ill into hospital so I expect well be visiting him.
Anyway have a good one ladies. Take Care. xxxxx

emzickle · 06/10/2006 15:52

you be careful not to pick up any nastie old bugs in the hospital Gemity

emzickle · 06/10/2006 15:52

Gingeme * even

majormoo · 06/10/2006 19:22

congrats Seona and 3kids. Seona-hope all goes well with Ewan's checkups.

Gemmitygem and Nowanearlynicemum-can't be long til things really get moving. Good luck! Gemmitygem-hope you are treated better at the hospital next time.

DashingRedHead-I am loving being on maternity leave as well-feels like I am on holiday for a couple of weeks at the moment.

Gingeme hope portrait goes well. Asda are doing shower curtains for £1 by the way if you do decide you need one for a home birth.

Bendyb-I had an anterior placenta last time and there is a huge difference in the amount of movements I feel this time (with posterior placenta) although I guess part of that is down to 'relaxed' stomach muscles. If you are at all worried do get it checked out. They will not mind-I went in to be monitored for an hour last week and felt so much better for doing it.

Whoever mentioned iron tablets, they are having the opposite effect on me too. Plus my poo is BLACK!!

Nothing really to report here, but as DD was induced 13 days late, am not really expecting action for any time soon. Have made plans for next week (lunch , hairdressers, going out for curry) to keep me busy. Raspberry leaf tea is DISGUSTING. re birthdays, I don't really want 15th OCt, as that is both DH and MIL, so would be better if we could celebrate on a different day, but obviously you cannot plan these things!

Anyone planning to watch the live birth on channel five on sunday?

nicand2 · 07/10/2006 06:53

Majormoo - Agree with the iron tablets, I thought they were supposed to slow things down??

I've been up for over an hour now as I can't sleep, didin't go to bed until 11.30 either. I think it's my bodies way of preparing me for less sleep.

Going to look at new houses today in Wiltshire so I've got a lot going round in my head.

Tigerlion · 07/10/2006 09:16

Congrats to Seona and 3Kids. Looks as though the October births have well and truly started. Hope all is going well for Gemitygem and NANNM.
Been having the same contraction like feelings since Monday but they disappear for hours on end so realise they canmnot be real contractions. On the loo last night half the night with the squits (TMI I know but if I can't tell you on Mumsnet there are few other peopke I can tell!). Really stupid question but how do you know your mucus plug has come out or your waters have broken if you have the squits? having not experienced proper labour at DS's last birth I am scared that I will fail to notice the signs of labour this time round.
Full moon tonight when the labour wards are meant to turn you away as they get so full. Are there going to be any full moon babies amongst our lot??!!
Reflexology appointment cancelled as the salon phoned up to say that the reflexologist was not trained to do reflexology to pgregnant women. BUMMER. Does anyone know if there is a database online that lists qualified reflexologists?
Again. Good luck to anyone who is about to give birth.

Hopefully things are moving here - show last night and minor contractions every 10 mins or so. Slowed down now, so off to get my hair cut. Might be a full moon baby, or this could go on for some time yet...

Congratulations Milliee!

Gingeme · 07/10/2006 11:40

Another boy! Congratulations millee. Well done.
Sounds like things are on the move for you too Swizzler. Keep relaxed and focused.
And baby makes 3 eh Bendyb or in my case and baby makes 6!!
Just had my portrait done. A lovely lady. She was very taken with my ds and said he could do modeling as he was very natural. Didnt go for the DEmi Moore look but had a nice chiffon blouse and black trousers on under my bump. She took quite a few of me and bump and some of me and ds and some of me and dh and ds. Cant wait to see them.
Well off to do some shopping ready for my parents tommorrow. Good luck Swizzler keep us updated on your progress. xxxx

DS2 arrived safe and sound by elec CS on Thurs morning. 51cm, 6lbs 9oz. Home this morning, milk in already. Absolutley wonderful experience, the immediate skin to skin in recovery was just magical. Post natal care fabby; they wouldn't let me lift a finger for the first 24 hours!
