Hope this works and that this thread sees the arrival of lots of wonderful little babies!

Still here and ten days' overdue. Got an induction booked on Saturday but would prefer to go into labour myself IYSWIM!

I have a reebok gym ball from Argos which has got quite deflated. How is everyone inflating theirs as I want to get it quite hard but the bicycle pump does not work. Apparently you can blow them up at garages but when I went there last week they did not have any of those thin bits to make the air pump thinner.

For all those of you overdue do you feel as though you are no longer pregnant in a strange kind of way? We have had the dates in our mind for so long and then they come and go, weekends go by with nothing planned. I suppose we should try to put our feet up and get all the rest we can get (not that DS lets me get a wink!) before babies come but it does go on for ever, doesn't it?!

Good luck to anyone LUCKY enough to go into labour today!

Yeah agrimum the balls r really comfy 4 sitting on, mine was 4.99 in argos.

I'm actually gonna be bothered 2 go out shopping 2day, get my raspberry leaf stuff & the last few bits i need, prob stock up on some more maternity pads, & get some more baby wipes etc!
catch u all later!! xx

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 10:32

Bendy - i have the one that was 4.99 from argos too

well, had a hot curry and sex last night and still no baby . although i am very uncomfortable today with period type pains and it feels like ive got a lot of pressure on my pelvis

Lisamarv - im getting the same sort of thing that you were describing in your post. not nice at all is it?

NNNM - how did it go after? do they want to book you in for a c/sec?

hope that everyone is ok

nowanearlyNicemum · 19/10/2006 13:59

just back from seeing obstetrician and it's good news. baby still quite high up but cervix definitely getting shorter so these contractions are doing some good after all!! from Sunday (due date French time) I'll have to go in for daily monitoring and they'll take it from there. Here's hoping I go into labour before then!

wuzzlefraggle - read your last post as 'had curry and hot sex'

any news from morespamthanglam or jobot? they MUST have had their little bundles by now!

Popsi · 19/10/2006 14:10

Hurray - gymball just arrived! Will get DH to blow it up tonight - we have a pump thing you can attach to the car cigarette lighter. No sign of the chicken pox yet either!

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 14:20

great news NNNM! i'll make sure to keep sending you contracting labour vibes
lol, all i was thinking was "hmmm, this could help speed things up" LOL

popsi - the gym balls are brill aint they? i blew mine up as i was too impatient to wait for dh. unfortunatly, its not quite as blown up as it should be, so i'll have to get dh to take the pump to it i suppose

mamado · 19/10/2006 15:04

Huge congratulations to those who have had their little ones. Dd2 was born 1 week late on tuesday 17th at 6.55am. She is called Jaya and is an absolute sweetie, if a nocturnal one! I'm not sure if she was just ready or it was the copious amounts of curry and pineapple, but she was certainly in a hurry to come out - entire labour was over in 6.5 hours and we were home 6 hours after that!

Good luck to all of you who are still waiting

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 15:17

Congratulations mamado! beautiful name too

majormoo · 19/10/2006 15:48

congrats mamado. lovely name.
glad things are going well nnnm with the contractions!
tigerlion-my sympathies re being overdue as it does feel like forever that you have been pregnant when you are days over. If it is any consolation, i had no warning my labour would start in the days leading up to it-no warning braxton hicks or anything. so fingers crossed it could happen at anytime.

We have decided to call DS Milo. He is gorgeous but wants to feed ALL THE TIME which drove me nuts with DD and is looking like the doing the same this time. Still I feel physically great compared to last time (I was only coming out of hospital 4 days later last time.) Am feeling really chuffed about the labour as well. Had really mild contractions all day Monday 16th (still took DD to music etc so was out and about). In the early evening lit a few candles, bounced on my ball, put the tens on. Got to hospital about 8.30pm and he was born at 11.10pm. The pushing was tough though. It took 25 mins which is not that long really but as DD was only 12 mins I was a bit shocked. It was horrid feeling them tug his shoulders out. At first they thought I had a third degree tear but luckily was a millimetre away from that and just second degree. phew.

Anyway enough about me-hope all the remaining babies put in an appearance soon.

wuzzlefraggle · 19/10/2006 15:57

majormoo - milo is a lovely name

nicand2 · 19/10/2006 16:13

Congratulations to all the new mummies - great names too.

I'm starting to feel really fed up now as I think you were both due around the same time as me, will it ever be my turn?? The problem with going overdue is it gives you more time to get apprehensive. i keep hearing abput these lovely quick births and am convincing myself I won't have one!!

Gingeme · 19/10/2006 18:06

Many cogratulations mamdoo. Sounds like an easy labour! Jaya is a beautiful name and very unusual.Hope you are recovering ok
Milo how cute is that.
Well done ladies xx

marthahm · 19/10/2006 19:06

congratulations mamado. lovely names mamado and majormoo.
i agree tigerlion, you go into a funny state of not feeling pg anymore. i had such a strop on friday (due date) about still being pg, but now not bothered, am lucky it's no 1 so can just pad round the house knitting etc. however, went to see consultant this am. had another sweep-nothing happening. he said that because the fluid has gone down they won't let me go beyond monday when i'll be 10 days overdue. i'm really hoping to start myself as i really want to do that and be at home for as long as possible. am also getting more aprehensive having more time on my hands nicand2. will try to make concerted effort to be more calm this evening.

marthahm · 19/10/2006 19:08

does anyone know what is the hottest curry to order?

totallyfloaty35 · 19/10/2006 20:37

VINDALOO

girlygale1 · 19/10/2006 20:48

Congratulations new mums!

I think I'm going to be pregnant for the rest of my life ... and I'm not officially over due yet!

youngmum21 · 19/10/2006 20:52

Hey girly,

I know how you feel still got 9 days left and just feel like it neva going to end!!!!

Congratulation mamado!!!! xx

Popsi · 19/10/2006 21:09

Congratulations to the new arrivals!
Yes I feel like it will be forever until baby arrives too - 12 days until due date and then who knows how long. Have tried to organise some things to do over the next couple of weeks - we are going to see friends this weekend and the weekend after am having a little halloween party for DD and a couple of her friends - maybe if I organise stuff to do then baby will come early!

marthahm · 19/10/2006 21:15

thanks for curry info totally!
now know that 3 weeks ago what i thought was a show was not and after sweep today is. let's hope it'll help. apparently feeling sick can be a sign labour is imminent. fingers crossed

youngmum21 · 19/10/2006 21:19

really? i was feeling sick this morning but nothing happened mind you i did have two painful bh but nothing now!!!!

EmilyTurner · 19/10/2006 21:42

Oh good. I've felt sick for two mornings in a row.

Can I ask what you thought was a show. I looked in my diary from 2003 and saw I had a show two days before labour and it was like snot with bits of pink in it. Last week I had loads of snot stuff but no pink.

I know. Bit gruesome!

youngmum21 · 19/10/2006 21:55

i thought you cud have more then one show im sure someone told me that!!!!

Gingeme · 19/10/2006 22:15

Good evening ladies. Yes you can have more than one show or actualy it can take a few days for it to come away rather than have more than one. But on the other hand you may not even see a show.
Ok a strange question for you ladies who are still pregnant. Im getting a erm how can I describe it a rumbling feeling in my pubic area every now and then. Is anyone else feeling this or am i just a bit strange?
Oh I also felt that clicking
in my tummy yesterday. At the top of my tummy as I was breathing.dh heard it too. Turned out to be trapped wind though because I did a burp and it didnt happen again though
Anyway off to bed now. Going to the baby show Saturday. goodnight xx

Swizzler · 20/10/2006 09:18

Congratulations Mamado! There's an October postnatal thread now if you want to come over

Lovely name Majormoo - have only come across it in the Phantom Tollbooth (hoping love of children's books willl rub off on William).

My show came on Sat night and I kept on bleeding from then right through labout - mw said it was the cervix effacing.

catgirl · 20/10/2006 09:29

congrats to the new arrivals - haven't we all got lovely taste in names?!

Re the ball - forgot to mention that last Sunday I borrowed one, bounced around watching tv, then on Monday afternoon, sat on it using the computer and that is when my waters broke.... now don't all go bouncing at once, as I have no idea whether it help. It certainly helped in labour. I sat on one next to the bed, with my head resting on (own!) pillows between contractions - couldn't bear to be sitting down for contractions - but good to rest and rock between - think the rocking motion kept ds moving down if that makes sense. Didn't use one for ds1 and he was a straightforward labour too - if longer.

Good luck, really looking forward to reading your announcements soon!
