Hope this works and that this thread sees the arrival of lots of wonderful little babies!

taffy101 · 18/10/2006 16:11

Congrats to everyone who's had their babies already. Am getting v.excited reading all the postings. Theoretically 1 week to go for me now. DD is quite excited too. Had a stitch-like tummy pain all day yesterday so decided I'd better pack hospital bag - DH seriously/innocently asked was I going somewhere!?
No pains today but have been lounging about taking it easy as DH off work and entertaining DD. Having curry tonight - not really to hurry labour up - just cos I like curry. DD was 8 days late 3 years ago and I tried curry/pineapple/sex and none of it worked. Never did find raspberry leaf tea anywhere. Good luck to everyone who's still waiting

wuzzlefraggle · 18/10/2006 16:26

taffy - 6days left here, so im very close to your due date. lol re you dh! mine made me pack my labour bag last week, so im set to go too. all i need is for labour to start (which im hoping it will and sooner rather than later ) Are you from Wales (wundering coz of the name) ??

taffy101 · 18/10/2006 16:30

am from wales but alas live in cheshire now - blame the DH

wuzzlefraggle · 18/10/2006 16:37

im from wales too still live here tho lol.

im very tempted to have a curry tonight too. yup, i will i think..hmmm, jalfrezi or rogan josh?

taffy101 · 18/10/2006 16:42

You're making me hungry already...
Have to do DDs tea first and then order curry while she's in the bath - ages to wait yet. I'll have to have a coffee and a giant choc chip cookie now

wuzzlefraggle · 18/10/2006 16:49

lol, ooo cookies sound good. i eat way more than im supposed to, im sure of it!

so are you getting any signs of labour being on the horizon?

taffy101 · 18/10/2006 16:57

Nothing to report as yet. Feel like it won't ever happen. I won't be too surprised if it is late like my last one. Am not suffering much so am ok with that. How about you?

wuzzlefraggle · 18/10/2006 17:04

all ive had happen is tightenings in my stomache for about the last few days and these period type pains at the bottom of my stomache. they come and go throughout the day.
i will be very glad when things kick off, i must admit.

nowanearlyNicemum · 18/10/2006 17:08

congratulations catgirl and majormoo - will go and consult some of these birth announcements to see how everyone really got on

in answer to your question marthahm, have been doing the rounds of various banks to sort out a mortgage. not coming back to the UK - buying a house in the next village. never had a place of our own before, we've always rented so we're VERY excited. (pile pain starting to abate by the way )

am seeing obstetrician tomorrow lunchtime - am hoping she'll just leave me alone to be honest but am prepared to have to fight my corner.

taffy101 · 18/10/2006 17:10

Maybe your curry will sort you out tonight! Have to see who gets there first. Welsh curry might be stronger than English!
Better get off computer and make DDs tea or I'll never get mine lol.

wuzzlefraggle · 18/10/2006 17:16

LOL taffy, ok, have a nice evening. will catch up with you again

NNNM - have you had your lo yet?

clon · 18/10/2006 17:45

Congratulations catgirl and majormoo.

Had my mw appt this afternoon, only 2/5th's engaged so I don't think my little girl is going to be on time, My bp was up and had cloudy urine so not as plain sailing as usual, they have sent sample off for testing.
My ankle is really sore so can't do much which is probably a good thing to make me rest, think I've done my dash on cooking and cleaning now!

Good luck to all those with babies hope the feeding and sleeping is going ok. Hang in there to the rest of us!

nowanearlyNicemum · 18/10/2006 19:30

wuzzlefraggle, no STILL haven't had my lo yet!!
that's why I'm seeing hte obstetrician tomorrow - she wants me to have a c-section but I'm not up for one yet. Should be an interesting discussion

agrimum · 18/10/2006 20:02

Well saw mw this afternoon and she informs me i am 4/5 engaged - but still told me to make a double appointment for next week so she can do a sweep, and joy of joys she will have a student doctor with her and asked if I minded if i let him/her feel my cervix!

Then I went to see a reflexologist, hour and a half lying back and relaxing, and feeling really tired now. Therapist felt the baby would be arriving over the weekend. She didn't say which weekend though!

Congratulations to the latest arrivals - making me feel very jealous now.

BENDYB · 18/10/2006 20:17

congratulations majormoo!

Let me no what the tea is like wuzz! I told u the gym balls were comfy! I'm sitting on mine now!

youngmum21 · 18/10/2006 20:25

Gingeme · 18/10/2006 20:54

Good evening ladies. Ive just done a dummy run with my towels and plastic sheeting. Put duvet down first then the plastic then all the towels. Rolled it all up and put ti on the moses basket.Seems all the more real now. Dh told me to get on all fours and make puffing noises. Felt a bit silly doing it with my clothes on iyswim? Just hope its gonna be a quick one like catgirls was.Anyway Im off for my shower now then to bed I think. Goodnight ladies. Hope you all sleep well. xx

nowanearlyNicemum · 18/10/2006 21:03

sounds like you're well and truly ready Gingeme. hope little one doesn't keep you waiting too long

Swizzler · 18/10/2006 21:32

Congratulations Catgirl and majormoo! Hope you get going soon Gingeme,

W grizzling so better go and feed him!

girlygale1 · 18/10/2006 22:53

Hi everyone - congratulations to you new mummy's!!! All very exciting!

Thank you for the advice re; all fours - i asked my mw if I should do that to encourage lo to move, but she said that lo is engaged and won't move now until labour (if she moves) ... well I'm going by what you have all said and gonna give it a go!!!!!! I had all these ideas of my second labour being quick ... looks like I'm in for the long haul! Have to say dh - has totally surprised me, he is not someone that shows emotions, can't remember last time he said he loves me etc .. but after we were talking about the labour, he actually said he is not looking forward to seeing me suffer at all with this labour (didn't care in first!!) and said I should go for an epidural asap!! How sweet! Needless to say I welled up and hugged him (have to make the most of these moments - he'll soon be back to being unsupportive and not paying any attention to me!

...Emily and wiffy, where in Kent are you? I used to live in Ashford and had dd in William Harvey hosp - did I read that one of you will be going there? Have got one or two stories of that hosp!!!! We have since moved and am having dd in surrey - seems very regimented, but hopefully a lot more professional!

Take care everyone - and looking forward to hearing everyone's news!

Not much happening today, baby is definitely moving less which consultant says is a good sign, think she is wedged firmly in the pelvis now so has less room to somersault around Hopefully not too long now...
Does anyone else have pain down below like they've been horse riding?! Sounds weird I know, feel like I've been on a mega horse riding trek or marathon bike ride, like saddle soreness, feels bruised, making me walk like John Wayne!

agrimum · 19/10/2006 08:28

Today is my due date - so managed to persuade DH to a bit of rumpy pumpy, mopped the kitchen floor and about to clean through entire house. If that doesn't get it moving nothing will. A friend has offered me some gunpowder that has only been used once if all else fails.

agrimum · 19/10/2006 08:38

sorry me again. These balls some of you are bouncing about on. Are they they same as the big exercise balls? I have one which is 26" and just wondered if it the same sort of thing.

DogMum · 19/10/2006 08:55

Congratulations on your enormous bundle, Majormoo.

Yep agrimum - they're big exercise balls. 26" sounds about right too. I'd give it a go. They really take the pressure off your spine, your knees are lower than your pelvis and it's impossible to sit completely still, so it's supposed to encourage the baby into the right position. Also recommended for early labour (although I don't have any experience of this and tbh, it doesn't feel as though I ever will.)

nowanearlyNicemum · 19/10/2006 08:56

don't lose heart DogMum - we too will get our little ones
