lovely photo Swizzler, thanks for sharing!!

have just realised that if I was in the UK, today would be my due date In France they add an extra week on so my official due date here is 22nd. Either way, getting more and more fed up with inefficient contractions that can be quite painful if I'm on my feet for a while and piles which are agony when I sit down. Can't win, can I?!!

roll up roll up who's next????

marthahm · 16/10/2006 08:06

lovely lovely photographs gemmitty and swizzler, they both look so sweet even when so new and meant to be prune faced. very encouraging for the rest of us.
nnnm i sympathise with the piles. i think it's the last indignity. my pg book says soak an st in olive oil and lie down for half an hour-personally am dubious and haven't tried that yet. drinking shed loads of water helps when i remember but generally, miserable. i was quite cheered though to find out that the seemingly glam mums in my pg yoga were also experiencing problems and i wasn't the only one.
how long do we reckon you can go on having the painful bh contractions before anything useful happens? mine get worse every night (nearly crying last night), happening in the day now too but not as much. has been going on for at least 3 weeks. you've had yours for ages nnnm haven't you? did those of you who've already popped have them for ages too?
going back to bed now for some proper sleep hopefully after my first breakfast.

catgirl · 16/10/2006 08:40

morning - welcome taffy101

And swizzler - what a gorgeous boy! Hope he is managing more sleep.

Day did improve yesterday - although we had another 4 year old round for a few hours - boy am I glad I don't have twins! Although guess they would be used to sharing all the toys, rather than this is mine, etc etc. Sleept well last night due to exhaustion I think!

Have 38 week check this morning, then off to John Lewis to get the security tag removed from the nursing bra I bought last week! Why oh why is it never straightforward!
Have a good day

nowanearlyNicemum · 16/10/2006 09:19

marthahm, I sooo envy you being able to go back to sleep after breakfast That's exactly what I feel like doing!! Was up til 1am with contractions and then dd was awake just after 7. I don't think my last 3 nights' sleep add up to one decent one
Thanks for the olive oil tip - Will let you know if I feel brave enough to give it a go. It really is the last indignity, isn't it?
Right, must get off my pile-ridden butt and phone some banks to try and get a mortgage sorted. At least that will provide a different sort of discomfort

Gingeme · 16/10/2006 09:43

Good morning ladies and welcome taffy 101. I had a lovely weekend with my ds's. We went to the woods yesterday because my ds3 had to collect some Autumn bits for his nature table at nursery. We were walking round for roughly an hour. I was taking it quite slow and was getting some pretty strong bh. Thinking I was doing myself some good and tummy feeling pretty tight. Woah! Today I feel like Ive been shot in the back. I feel like an old lady. Cant bend down at all. I said to my ds3 this morning I hope his baby brother comes soon so I can start feeling normal again.
On a lighter note though when everyone had gone to bed my dh ran me a bath. Thought Id attempt to have a shave. Did my 'upper bits' soaped up my legs and called dh to see if he could assist me. Well for a man whos been shaving his chin for atleast 20 years he was useless. Ive never laughed so much in my life. He was trying to be gentle bless him but ended up tickling me so much we gave up in the end. So glad its October and I can get away with jeans all the time.
On the piles subject. A lump on your bum may just be a protruding vein which you will get a few of at this stage of pg. If it isnt painful then just leave it and it will soon go after the birth. If it is near or on your anus and is either painful or itchy I found the best thing is to get some cotton wool 2 bowls of water. One as cold as you can get and one as hot as you cans stand. Soak a piece of cotton wool in each then one at a time apply to the area and count to five each time. This should shrink the piles. Always has worked for me pg or not. Worth a try. Hot first then cold then hot then cold. Usualy 3 times each.
Anyway Im off for a shower to see if I can sort my legs out. Have a good one ladies xxxx

nowanearlyNicemum · 16/10/2006 09:48

good luck with the legs Gingeme it's amazing how men can be so useless at it, despite having been shaving themselves for I don't know how long!!
and thanks for the hot/cold tip for piles, sounds a bit more 'doable' than the olive oil trick. definitely worth a try.

Popsi · 16/10/2006 09:58

Gingeme - thanks for the tips for my bum! From what you said it does sound like a protruding vein.
DH was actually being quite considerate & thoughtful this weekend (most out out of character!). For those with DHs being quite annoying I can totally sympathise as had the same thing with first baby. The way I look at it now is that we have so many changes imposed on us (physically and mentally) in such a relatively short period of time that we've no choice but to change, but it takes men a bit longer for men to get their heads around everything as the changes aren't so sudden or extreme!
We've been invited down to see some friends in Poole this weekend - I really want to go as am quite fed up & will be a change of scene but DH worried about if baby comes. I'm not due to 31st though (& first was 8 days late) & not engaged & I think we're pretty safe. It's only a 2-3 hour drive each way. Any thoughts as to what you others would do?

nowanearlyNicemum · 16/10/2006 10:03

I'd go, definitely. But that's just me

nicand2 · 16/10/2006 10:15

Morning all,

Well I'm six days over due today and I have a apt with mw later for a sweep. Definately not looking forward to that. The dr told me last week that I have a really high cervix so I'm guessing that won't make it any more comfortable.

I actually woke up this morning looking forward to giving birth which should give you some idea of how fed up I am!!

DH has also been very considerate this weekend looking after DS etc.

Does anyone else have really sore skin on the lowest part of your bump?

emmy01 · 16/10/2006 12:16

Hi ladies

My due date on sat I think DOGMUM you are to hope your feeling ok.

I feel terrible today had 'upset'(understatment) tummy all yest evening and last night had no sleep and Iam terrified to eat just incase as even water is having a dodgy effect. i had the same food as the whole family all day and no one else is ill ? very strange could this be the start of things ? not very nice have to say.

Seeing midwife for the last time hopefully this week, I hope this baby comes soon I'm so fed up I cried because one of my pg friends had her baby on friday and she was due a couple of weeks after me, I sounded like a child ' its not fair why can she have hers I want mine! sob sob... most shameful ! ha ha

anyway going to try and get some sleep now and hope this improves soon.

emmy01 · 16/10/2006 12:18

Totally floaty, were you on the south today / meridian news with your new arrival? as hospitals were closed ? the couple had a daughter called Lexie and I imediatly thought of you as its such a lovely unusal name.??

wuzzlefraggle · 16/10/2006 12:27

hi all!

welcome to the thread taffy...your due a day after me

well, still no baby here, and i didnt get to have my hot curry on saturday, so im having it tonight

got a midwifes apppointment today at 2:10.

is anyone else getting tummy pains (bit like a period, off and on through the day?) coz im starting to get a little bit sick of them now lol

wuzzlefraggle · 16/10/2006 12:28

oops, and forgot to add....gemmity and swzzler, your babies are absolutly gorgeous!

jmcmugwump · 16/10/2006 12:36

Thought I would post before catching up - well I knew I should have bet on having the LO on the day of the funeral - I wonder what odds I would have got??

Ellie Ann born at 19.50 on 12th Oct weighing in at 7lbs 14oz!!!

Yay (and ouch!) friendly tip for anyone still waiting - when you want the drugs demand them - if you are nice and polite and say I think I need some more pain relief they don't seem to hear you properly - if you say I need pethidine now! that seems to elicit more of a response!

She is beautiful and perfect - unlike my undercarriage which I don't even want to think about at the moment (and neither does my other half ) - I think he was quite scared by the whole thing, and scarred!!

He didn't make it to the funeral as things were in full swing, but did manage to get to the wake for a bit, and then had to pelt back to the hosital in time for the delivery, and got there just 45mins before she was born! A day I don't think either of us will forget for a long time.

Anyway ellie is calling so must go will catch up with you all soon x

Swizzler · 16/10/2006 12:56

Congratulations jmc! A lovely name as well. Hope you're coping OK - I take it you're back home now.

Stop press: W has managed 2 naps this morning IN HIS CRIB!! Mw came again this morning and told me to get more rest as bp up slightly, so I'm off to bed again after lunch.

Sending good labour vibes to all those due soon. Lots of promising signs. Second jmc on the pain relief - but I think I told you that already

wuzzlefraggle · 16/10/2006 12:57

congrats jmc!!

youngmum - where did you get the raspberry stuff from after??
i like spicey food, so im not that worried about eating it...i think that the point in eating spicey food to try and start labour is that it stimulates the bowels which could start labour....nice lol but still worth a try i think

youngmum21 · 16/10/2006 13:00

wuzzle - i got it from a place called healthy living but im sure if they do it holland and barettes will do it!!!
Well it did stimulate the bowls lol but im still here lol

DashingRedhead · 16/10/2006 13:02

Congratulations to all the new mums - lucky ladies to have your bundles all safe and sound. Rumpel - you are so NOT a failure, but everyone else has told you that already. Back to back is tough and it's not a competition.

Whoever was asking about gym balls, they really help ease the back ache. I rarely sit on anything else these days.

10 days to go, but my BHs are getting stronger and I've started getting period-type pains... Still, it could go on for days, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

wuzzlefraggle · 16/10/2006 13:04

yeah, i'll get mine tomorrow

im still gonna try it...im that keen (or is the word despirate?) lol

well id best be off now to start getting mself ready to see the midwife. i'll see what she can suggest to try and get the ball rolling

EmilyTurner · 16/10/2006 13:30

Well done JMC. Lovely name. Glad it went well.

38 weeks plus 1 today. I've had BH very strong for a week and period type pains. I have suddenly got low back ache and when I stand up the baby really feels like it is going to fall out. Still I made it without going into labour for my daughter's 3rd birthday party on Sat. She is actually 3 on Thurs. If I have this one of the same day (they both have same due dates), it will be rather, erm, interesting.

I've been trying to get things moving as I had my daughter early. Pineapple (sick of that), raspberryLtablets and sex (me saying "get on with it"). Had a curry last week and will have one this week. I've also been walking a lot.

It is actual agony now!

Gingeme · 16/10/2006 13:39

Many congratulations jmc. Perfect weight. Thats what my ds2 weighed. Hope all is well with you.
Well done Swizzler too. Little William sounds like hes coming into his own now. Try to get some rest too. Sleep when he does.
No word from clon for a while wonder if shes added to our anti natal list too. xx
