Hope this works and that this thread sees the arrival of lots of wonderful little babies!

congratulations Totallyfloaty. Hope you and Lexie are doing well (third degree tear-ouch!)

NNNM-think the evil piles took about a week to go. Until you've had them you just don't realise how bloody awful they are. I used one of the over the counter creams and made sure I drank lots of water. I don't think mine can have just gone, as apparently they don't in pregnancy, but must be hiding away somewhere, waiting to stike again! They do not cause any discomfort at all now if they are still there, so fingers crossed yours will go too.
The new house sounds exciting.
Thanks for updating the stats too as it is good fun looking at the list (despite the fact I also feel like I will be the only one left on the due list soon!)

Youngmum-glad yesterday's arguement is over and DH has apologised.

Still no signs of anything at all happening here. Not even a braxton hicks. AAAAH.

My latest mission to distract myself from my ever ongoing pregnancy is trying to find myself some casual knee length boots. It is a nightmare as I have wide calves and most of the ones in the shops are too tight. Have just looked on a website where they make them for you if you are graced with lovely massive calves but they are really expensive. Tempted to splash out anyway! Anyone got any good ideas where to shop?

DogMum · 14/10/2006 14:59

Congratulations Gemmity - a full moon baby. Glad your DH has time to spend with you so you can bond as a new family. And congratulations to you too, Totally. Gosh - I didn't think you could undilate. We live and learn. Glad Lexie is well. Pretty name. Is it short for Alexandra or are you just going for it?

NNNM, let us know if the stern talking to helps. Someone recommended it to me as well if I start going dangerously overdue. Glad you've found a house too.

Youngmum, fabulous that things are looking up with your dp. Hope you have a lovely weekend together.

Glad your baby girl is making up for what you went through, Rumpel. We really have to help each other not to beat ourselves up if we don't get the experience we want. No two labours are the same and accepting help you didn't think you'd need isn't a failure, it's just help you didn't think you'd need. (hark at me being all calm - only cos this baby doesn't feel like it's going anywhere - ever.)

Splashout Majormoo- you know you deserve it and from now on you're going to be spending it all on the baby.

Sorry for the long post ladies, think I'll just go and lie on the sofa with a tub of icecream.

Milliee: everything in this flat is covered with breast milk! Good job it smells nice . And yes, it is worth it.

Gem: gorgeous photos. Dont they look funny when rthey wrinkle up their foreheads? DH has promised to help me post a photo tomorrow, so we can compare

catgirl · 14/10/2006 20:31

Gemmity - beautiful, beautiful, beautiful - you will make us all broody!!

girlygale1 · 14/10/2006 20:34

Gimmitygem - your son is absolutely gorgeous, and I really am not just saying that - I totally love the one of the two of you with your eyes closed. Congratulations!!

I am really emotional today - am seriously struggling with step son, dd and dh. And to top it off when I was out this morning having my hair cut dh invited his ex in for a cuppa AAARRRGGGGHHHHH - just when I feel that I am on top of my feelings and how to cope with her, this happens today and all I want to do is scream. Right now I want to go out for a walk by myself and be on my own. Can't though obviously ... too flaming dark.

Have had one small glass of wine - does anyone know if it would be really bad to have another (they are about 1 unit's worth size).

Just want to cry.

agrimum · 14/10/2006 20:36

hi all - takes so long to catch up on everyone's news if you don't keeping checking out thread everyday. Congratulations to all who have "calved down" as we say in the farming world!

No news from me yet I'm afraid. From being told at the beginning of my pregnancy that my mw didn't think the consultant would let me go past 38 weeks, to be told on Wednesday at 39 weeks that they will let me go 12 days overdue I am feeling rather demoralised.

Just want to get it all over and done with and know LO is safe and healthy, as could do with some goods news - my mum has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease this week, so things are rather a worry - and I think she is feeling frustrated that she will not be able to help as much as she did with my brother's 3 who are much older.

Hope all who are still waiting are all well

catgirl · 14/10/2006 20:46

girlygayle - have another glass if it makes you feel better!

Agrimum - my mum has parkinson's too - diagnosed about 8 years ago - didn't stop her helping out at all when my ds was born 4 years ago - although I do appreciate that there are degrees of the disease but once meds are sorted (if they are even needed at this stage), then things do become 'easier'. But it isn't nice at all and you both have my sympathy. Frustration seems to go hand in hand with parkinson[s disease if my mum is anything to go by. Why did the midwife think you wouldn't go beyond 38 weeks to start with (opps - typed 'years' then!) and now they will let you?

nowanearlyNicemum · 15/10/2006 00:29

well it's nearly 1:30am here and I'm about to try and get some more sleep. still getting contractions and am very uncomfortable but have given up hoping that 'tonight's the night'!! - so no, DogMum, a stern talking to has done no good whatsoever so far!!
possibly having trouble sleeping too due to our excitement at having found a new home.

majormoo, I know only too well your dilemma with knee-length boots. have been meaning to buy some for the past 2 winters and still haven't found any that I like (and that I can actually get on over my calves). Must be because my legs are so muscly

thanks for sharing those precious pictures Gemmitygem. what a treasure your little boy is

sorry you've had such a crap day girlygale. hopefully things will be different tomorrow... hoping you manage to get a decent night's sleep. x

right, off for some kip now as I'm sure these contractions are petering out once again... baahhh, humbug... so who's out there giving birth as I type then????

agrimum · 15/10/2006 03:57

catgirl - thanks for your post, reassuring to know others in similar position are out there. My mum has always been very active and over the last 6 months she has really slowed down - hopefully the medication will help her, but obviously at the moment to early to tell. MW told me I would probably be induced at 38 weeks because of my raised BMI (too lardy), size of baby and because of the time it took to conceive (2.5yrs). But opinion has obviously changed in the last months.

For those with larger legs looking for boots have you tried Evans - they certainly do boots for chunkier legs!!!!!

Oh why can't I sleep tonight. Been very good for the last week, just hope that I don't start another run of being awake from 3.30am onwards. Is there anyone else out there??????

mamado · 15/10/2006 04:15

Hi Agrimum. Yes I'm up to - why oh why does my body/mind tell me that I only need 4 hours sleep at night then I'll feel rubbish all day. Am now 5 days overdue and it always feels so much more depressing at night, especially since going 10 days overdue with dd caused all sorts of problems..

On the boots front have you looked at the vivaladiva web site? They do wide fitting shoes so may do boots too. However I also recommend being cautious buying boots now, I tried on my roomy boots after dd was born and couldn't do them up at all until a few weeks later...all that extra water/weight I guess!

luboo · 15/10/2006 09:17

Majormoo I know how you feel about the boots - I try every year to get some to go over my calves and fail miserably. Maybe Evans is worth a shot?

Well, I had a Madras curry last night (which I had to force down as I hate hot food!) and still nothing. Going to ask my midwife for a sweep when I see her tomorrow. I also though a reflexology appointment might be worth a go - anyone tried this in the past?

catgirl · 15/10/2006 09:35

agrimum - my mum was active too - and now she still is - retired from her job - stress makes parkinson's worse - and is very active in local community stuff - and is now the town mayor! So life doesn't stop, just readjust I think. My dad made me laugh once, by justifying mum coming down to see me on the train - she had bought a 1st class ticket - saying that the luggage racks were not all up a height as she found it difficult etc (Trying to blame the parkinson's) - I pointed out that she is 5ft 1in, so had never been able to reach the top luggage racks!! But crowds aren't good. It is a horrible illness - the Parkinson's Disease Society is very helpful and useful.

Had an awful night's sleep - either really deep sleep with really strange vivid dreams or was awake as I was too hot - then some idiot decided to set off fireworks at 6 am. Got up at 7 am with ds, had a lovely breakfast, made some cookies, dh got up at 8:30 and now the two of them are shouting at each other as ds wants me to play and dh is telling him to give me 5 minutes peace! oh boy - I really don't want to go upstairs at the moment, so may lurk about here for a bit until it goes quiet!

catgirl · 15/10/2006 09:37

agrimum - at least the medics think you and the baby are ok to go to and past term - so not a risk to your overall health - which must be good (trying to find that silver lining )

NNNM - exciting to have found a house to buy.

catgirl · 15/10/2006 09:40

me again - seems to have gone quiet, so risking going upstairs to get dressed etc..... have a lovely sunday y'all.

nowanearlyNicemum · 15/10/2006 10:49

catgirl - I can definitely sympathise with the situation between your ds and dp. My dp is currently being totally intolerant of dd (just when I really need him to spend more time with her) and I feel a bit like an umpire on a daily basis, trying to avoid one of them upsetting the other. It's not very relaxing is it????? Hope your day gets better

sorry to hear about your mum, agrimum. sounds like catgirl is in a similar situation which is always reassuring. hope you managed to get some sleep in the end.

time I went to cook some lunch, methinks...

DogMum · 15/10/2006 13:06

Lovely pictures GemmityGem. What a little treasure!

I know it's too late for yesterday girlygale, but 100ml is just under a unit, so another should be fine, especially at this stage.

Agrimum, I love your farm-world terminology - please keep it coming. I just hope my midwife isn't a James Herriot lookalike or I might lose the plot. Sorry to hear about your mum's diagnosis. I hope everything settles soon and she finds she can help after all.

Still nothing doing here, although I did have a dreadful dream that I had heartburn in the night. I could really feel it. When I woke up to go to the loo, I was about to go downstairs and get some yoghurt or something when I realised I didn't actually have it. Hopefully quietness from some ladies means things are underway?

Swizzler · 15/10/2006 14:38

Hopefully this works - photo of William just after he was born.

Gingeme · 15/10/2006 14:56

Oh come on, you ladies are just showing off now. Such adorable little fellas. Aw makes me want to have one!! Oh yeah thats right I am arent I

Popsi · 15/10/2006 16:19

Congratulations to all the new babies! It's so exciting. I'm getting to the stage where, although I want him out, I'm also remembering a bit more about the labour last time & not too looking forward to that!
Can I ask a question about the piles? I've got a kind of sore lump on my bottom - is that a pile? Is there anything you can do about them?

girlygale1 · 15/10/2006 17:05

I love the way you have posted piccies of your babies - I wouldn't have a clue where to start when I have mine ... mind you if she looks anything like my dd did when she was first born then you probably wouldn't want to see her anyway !!!!! - have many of you seen Austin Powers? Well she was the spitting image of 'mini-me' for quite a while after!!! Not the most attractive of babies bless her!

...Now of course she's GORGEOUS!!!!

Sorry for rant yesterday. Didn't have the second glass of wine - felt a bit guilty so ate guge amounts of chocolate instead.

My sister struggles with finding boots to fit - she shops in Evans and also gets boots from 'simply B' catalogue (I think its that) its designed for women size 14 + (she is a size 24 and gets some lovely stuff from them).

Good luck to all you ladies that are having promising 'niggles'.

My dates say I'm due tommorrow and the scan says a week later ... lets hope baby is going to go by my dates!!!!!

taffy101 · 15/10/2006 17:21

milliee i'm hijacking this thread as i'm new to MN and due on 25 Oct!
sorry popsi don't know anything about piles ...

agrimum · 15/10/2006 19:40

Dog mum - i don't think i ought to worry you with some of the farming terms. Put it this way - our vet has offered to give a hand if needed in an emergency - but I told him if he comes anywhere near me with vet lube (you can guess what that is) and a calving jack (long ratchet type metal thing that helps the calf out - the cow version of forceps delivery i suppose)then I am out of here. Plus the NHS don't charge £80 an hour + call out fee!!!!! Finally dropped off to sleep at 7am this morning to be woken at 7.30 by BIL ringing the door bell.aghhhhhhhhh
had me evening bath which is becoming a bit of a ritual and really wish I had a bottle of wine in the house that I could open!
