Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wuzzlefraggle · 14/10/2006 12:35

yeah, my birth plans sorted.

no ive not got a tens machine...dont think im going to get one of those

BENDYB · 14/10/2006 12:36

they do deflate quite small wuzz but mine takes ages 2 blow back up again! But maybe u could use 1 of them electric pumps i dunno, my hospital has loads so thats ok. They've only got 3!!

youngmum21 · 14/10/2006 12:37

well i got one off ebay for 15quid brand new so even if i dont use it ive not lost too much as they bout 50quid in shops and ova 20quid to hire im not sure if i like it either as have tried it on my arm but maybe it feels diff on ur back!!!

BENDYB · 14/10/2006 12:37

what pain relief do u 2 think u want?

BENDYB · 14/10/2006 12:38

I think it feels horrible youngmum! But like u said u haven't really lost out if u dont use it!

youngmum21 · 14/10/2006 12:40

just my tens and gas and air if i can cope i defo dont want pethidine dont like the sound of it u?

wuzzlefraggle · 14/10/2006 12:42

same here youngmum re the pathadine...aparently it can effect the baby.

as for my pain relief i really do want to try my best with just gas and air...wishful thinking maybe, but im going to just go in there with a strong mind and see how it all goes...

BENDYB · 14/10/2006 12:44

hopefully i will cope on just gas & air but i'm such a wimp i dont think i'll b able 2. I will prob have an epidural, I dont really like the sound of it but i dont think i'll cope with the pain otherwise, but then again i might surprise myself & b ok with it. Doubt it tho! No dont really like the sound of pethidine either!

youngmum21 · 14/10/2006 12:45

well ive seen my sis do it with just gas and air and i think she more of a wimp then me so my hopes are quite high that ill cope and with the help of dp hand and arm im hoping that be more then enough lol

BENDYB · 14/10/2006 12:45

Yeah i think it helps if u try & stay calm aswell, easier said than done tho!

youngmum21 · 14/10/2006 12:47

when i had my parent craft classes the mw who took the class sed she knew some one who had pethidine was so out of it she cudnt remember the birth or even knew she had given birth!!!

BENDYB · 14/10/2006 12:51

yeah thats what i've heard bout pethidine & can make u feel really sick cant it!
god i'm gettin quite scared now! Sometimes when i just sit & think bout it i cant believe i'm gonna b giving birth soon!

youngmum21 · 14/10/2006 12:53

yeah me to even though we keep complaining how we want our lo to come now im quite scared that ive only got 15days if she come on time and the weeks are going fast and then im even more scared cuz she might come early and i havent really prepared myself for that as i seem to focus on my due date as that the day i was given if that makes sense!!!

BENDYB · 14/10/2006 12:55

yeah thats what i think, its goin so quick now!
I just want the actual birth bit 2 b over & 4 my baby 2 b here!

youngmum21 · 14/10/2006 12:56

oh yeah if i cud skip the birth and just have lo that be great lol

wuzzlefraggle · 14/10/2006 13:01

lol, skipping bith would be cool, but i think that im just so sick of being uncomfortable now that the birth part seems almost desirable...at least once its done then you dont have to do it again...omg that sounded stupid

BENDYB · 14/10/2006 13:02

i no! Wish i could! I must go & do some housework, bein so lazy 2day! Chat 2 ya later, let us no bout the raspberry leaf tablets!

BENDYB · 14/10/2006 13:03

wuzzlefraggle · 14/10/2006 13:09

It didnt sound dtupid i can see where your coming from cuz once your in labour you know that the end of being pg is close and we can all move on to caring for our los a whole new challenge in it self!!!

youngmum21 · 14/10/2006 13:10

speak to you later ladies best go do my hair then as everyone else going will let you no bout the rasberry tabs xx

wuzzlefraggle · 14/10/2006 13:10

thats exactly it youngmum! and yep, i expect that me and dh will be having another lo too, but not for 5 years at least lol..we'll have to play that one by ear i think

wuzzlefraggle · 14/10/2006 13:11

speak to you laters youngmum x have a nice day out

nowanearlyNicemum · 14/10/2006 13:52

wahey! congratulations totally!! Lexie is such a pretty name. Were you inspired by anything in particular? It's so unusual. (I almost feel like pinching it as we're still struggling to agree on girls' names.

Majormoo, thanks for your sympathy with regards to the piles. How long did it take to get rid of them? I'm thinking, pushing with piles is going to be REALLY horrendous Also, all of the 'tricks' to get labour going are out of the question with piles - i.e. anything that brings on the squits such as pineapple, grapes or curry and although we'd still been having sex until quite recently that is now out of the question too. Will keep supping my raspberry leaf tea I suppose - and walking too. I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to be induced again. Dp keeps telling anyone that'll listen that my pregnancies last for 10 months anyway. Nice to know that we've created such a perfect environment atht they just don't want to leave!!

We've been looking for a house to buy for just over a year now and I think we've found it this morning. I'm soooo excited - just need to get mortgage sorted and it'll be all systems go. Maybe the excitement will bring the labour on ...

glad you and your dp sorted it out youngmum, it's really miserable going to bed without sorting it out, we've had a few big rows in the past weeks and you feel much more vulnerable being this close to having the baby.
huge congratulations to the new mothers, we've been wondering and hoping that everything was going well for you. some scary labour stories though. brilliant that your dh got back in time and that you'll have so much time together in belgium.
sounds like you're doing really well swizzler, keep going. (they told us at bf class that the baby's stomach is the size of a walnut initially so it would make sense that he's feeding lots). but i do realise that until you've tried feeding you don't have a clue.
my hospital has a 10 days policy on inducing so i can at least count down now-9 days max to go.
no proper contractions, just period pain like bh every night that disappear in the morning.
may get a sweep on tuesday, mw said they often do it then, so we'll see.
by the way guys raspberry leaf tea helps make contractions more efficient during labour but doesn't bring on labour-sorry.
