youngmum21 · 10/10/2006 14:19

catgirl · 10/10/2006 16:09

I go away for a weekend and four babies arrives - congrats to Millee, highlander, pmore and swizzler - all great news.

I bet i am posting to myself by the end of the month!

majormoo · 10/10/2006 17:51

congrats swizzler on William's arrival.

Youngmum-Neal's yard sell the 200cc arnica-you can get it whilst buying your raspberry leaf tea!!! Not sure re the booze straight after childbirth-my sister packed us a half bottle of champagne and some plastic glasses in my labour bag for DD's birth. However, I was just desperate for a cup of tea and some toast straight afterwards!!! (of course we did manage the champers a few days later!)

Had a nice few hours at the hairdressers today, which took my mind off the car situation briefly. How can your car locking system break on your due date-this is not the time for Dukes of Hazard impressions FGS!!!

Looking forward to the curry we are going for tonight-fingers crossed it starts things off.

mmmchocolate-my baby has dropped and midwife said the head is very low at the moment. However, my books say this often doesn't happen til labour in subsequent pregnancies a lot of the time. My DD was still two weeks late after engaging about 37 weeks, so don't think it means much. At least it eases the indigestion, but means I am constantly running to the loo.

jmcmugwump-really hope the funeral goes peacefully, and your OH is able to say goodbye, before your baby puts in an appearance.

MrsBlobby · 10/10/2006 18:07

Wow - I have a few days off and here are all these babies!!!! Congratulations to you all - how very exciting!

Nothing to report on this front - apart from a very active baby! Due on Friday, but I guess he'll be late (I normally am!!!)

catgirl · 10/10/2006 18:35

swizzler -meant to ask - did you get into the pool, or was there no time? Sounds like once you were in hospital it all happened fairly quickly. Well done you!

pmoore · 10/10/2006 18:47

Samantha and I are doing fine now, little bit emotional, midwife says its the emornmous change in hormones. Anyone else experience that?

I am despite my earlier fears about breast feeding, managing to stick with it. It is a really special feeling- I find night times difficult and have turned to the SMA a few times! Sore nipples is just the worst feeling!!

Managed to get thru without an epidural- although I demanded. Gas and air is great

Once all October arrivals are here, I will tell my story- not too sure its fair until then.

girlygale1 · 10/10/2006 21:51

Congratulations everyone!!! xxx

Well 0 I think there might be a vote for the curry thing - OH suggested one last night for tea and I thought (if I have a mild one (chicken passanda - doesn't come much milder) it will not start anything off - well got up for my customary night time pee at 4.45, went back to bed, couldn't sleep, decided to have a poo (sorry of tmi) and I believe my waters have broken, not a big gush, but every time I squeezed quite a significant amount of water came out - definitely not pee, so have had to call the delivery ward who have told me to put a maternity pad on and call them back in an hour. If pad is wet they will take me in. Am dreading telling OH as this is exactly what we didn't want will let him sleep a little longer until I find out if I need to go in. Oh buggar - someone up there has got a sense of humor!!! No contractions or anything yet, just some relatively mild perios pains shich have been more on than off for the last few days, but then I don't tend to suffer with period pains usualty, sorry for long post but I had to tell someone and is a bit early for texting my sister.

catgirl · 11/10/2006 08:49

jmc - have you gone in yet, or are you waiting by the computer hoping it is a false alarm? Forgive me for not quite remembering, but is it your fil's funeral tomorrow? As you say, someone, somewhere does have a sense of humour.

Try not to stress (easier said than done, I know) as you have absolutely no control over what is happening, so stressing will not make any difference. Keep us posted.

jmcmugwump · 11/10/2006 09:02

Still here - no more leaking, although am getting mild contractions about every 6 mins which last for about 25 seconds - will try to stay at home for as long as possible - OH thought I was playing a sick joke on him this morning when I woke him at 7 and told him!! I think it is just doing the effacing thing so could be here for a while, and yes it is the funeral tomorrow - bloomin' typical!!

catgirl · 11/10/2006 09:08

well, they sound regular enough but I am no expert. Are you far from the hospital? I stayed away as long as I could last time and by the time I got in and was examined I was 7 cms and delivered about 4 hours later. Took ages to get discharged though as I am reuses neg blood and needed an anti-d jab and they keep forgetting (was very very busy though).

Have you picked names yet? Will you include your fil's name do you think? Just chit chatting really, so feel free to ignore me!

Tigerlion · 11/10/2006 09:09

Thinking of you JMC and hope all goes well.
Millee or any other person who knows something about homepathy, what is the thing to take to help bring labour on? Chloro or chorol something? Do you know whether it is meant to be effective? I am after anything that will help get LO out as I can't wait to see her and never expected to go past my due date!

majormoo · 11/10/2006 09:10

can't believe it has happened today! As catgirl said, try not to stress about it as there is nothing you can do to stop your baby coming yet if it is ready to put in an appearance. Some things are just meant to be. Good luck-keep us posted

marthahm · 11/10/2006 10:06

good luck jcm, i think i'm going to demand a curry tonight.
right tigerlion, my nose is in the book as i write, in the gentle birth method it says if you are overdue, ie over 42 weeks-choose the most appropriate remedies below, take one a day for 2 days then have a 2 day break before trying again.-
caulophyllum 200c-known to thin out the cervix
aconite 200c-if there are subconscious fears of birth and maybe palpitations
gelsemium 200c-if there is an anticipatory anxiety of labour and maybe looseness of the bowels
it also suggests brisk 40 minute walk, nipple stimulation and sex. good luck!

Gingeme · 11/10/2006 10:45

Good morning ladies. Its very quiet here this morning. Wonder if any other ladies are busy in labour!
This happened in my last labour jmc. I slowly leaked waters for a few days before hand. Its when the hind waters gush that labours usualy iminent (that doesnt look right but you know what I mean) Have you noticed your show yet?
I had some pretty strong period type pains about 2am. Was very uncomfortable and got up for a wee sbout every 20 minutes. Then I went for a pooh about 4am and realy thought things were getting going. DH got up about 4.30 for work by which time I was very achey. Fell asleep till 8 when my alarm went off to get ds ready for nursery. Feel realy crappy and still achey. Dare I say quite wet 'down below'.
Oh well gonna do some hoovering now see what happens.

youngmum21 · 11/10/2006 10:52

good luck jmc!!! x

Swizzler · 11/10/2006 11:30

Best of luck jmc! Gingeme: sounds like things might be moving for you as well.

Catgirl: nope, didn't get anywhere near the pool. In fact, didn't even get round to changing my clothes - first photos of me and the baby and I'm in a crumpled top with my bra pushed up round my neck so he could latch on - nice .

Checked notes and it says 2nd stage 57 mins, 3rd stage 7 mins. I keep wanting to tell people about this but they are strangely uninterested.

Thanks for the tip about savoy cabbage - milk cam in yesterday. I never thought sticking cabbage leaves in my bra would be so blissful! Now I just need to convince William to start sleeping at night for more than an hour at a time...

totallyfloaty35 · 11/10/2006 12:07

Hi all, been having strong erratic pains all night, they now very strong but still 15 mins apart, also had a show an hour ago.Feel very sick.

Swizzler · 11/10/2006 12:14

Looks like you're on your way totally! Ring your mw / labour ward if ypu feel any worse. Go to sleep if you can. Good luck

wuzzlefraggle · 11/10/2006 12:16

hi ladies

jmc - hope alls well!
gingeme - sounds like things are moving along for you...

well, all day and night yesterday i kept having these really uncomfortable tightening feelings in my stomache, the only way i can describe it is like the top and bottom of my tummy goes really hard and my stomache "locks" which is very very uncomfortable. not nice

wuzzlefraggle · 11/10/2006 12:17

ooo, crossed posts totally - does sound promising!!

Swizzler · 11/10/2006 12:20

Wuzzle: sounds like Braxton hicks - practice contractions. Are they irregular?
