Hope this works and that this thread sees the arrival of lots of wonderful little babies!

nicand2 · 10/10/2006 10:35

Congrats Pmoore!

Due date for me too but I have resigned myself also to being 2 weeks late now. I suppose 2 weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things but when you can hardly walk it seems like a lifetime!!

youngmum21 · 10/10/2006 10:39

good luck to those who's due date it is i hope your lo's arrive on time!!
Two extra weeks to think about must feel like torture!!!

Swizzler · 10/10/2006 11:20

Well, I'm back! Baby William arrived Sunday morning. I managed my haircut, pottered round all day, went into hospital with contractions at 1:30 Sun morning. 4cm dilated, much to mw surprise, sent to delivery room to walk about a bit and then things speeded up massively and Wiliam arrived at 4:30am. We had a bit of a scare as the cord was round his neck, so had to have an episiotomy and he was yanked out. All well now - feeding and looking fab. 3.3 kg - about 7 1/2 pounds?

We were kept in for 24 hours, then took ages to be discharged so finally home about midnight yesterday. Rambling nature of post due to little sleep since about Thursday.

Top tip: if you think you'll need extra pain relief, ask for it as soon as you get there. Or you'll be told that it's too late as it's time to push . A 9v battery and a couple of leads is NOT sufficient for pushing out a baby. Not even a whiff of gas and air [sob].

On the plus side, the hospital staff were great, esp the midwife and the doctor, and we wangled a side room due to lack of space.

Congrats to Millie and pmoore - haven't had a chance to read the whole thread. Off to bed for a nap while W is asleep...

Good luck to all those still to come!

Congratulations pmoore, a girl to share the spoils with Hannah at last.

Well done Swizzler - a bit of full moon magic. Glad it's all going well.

Nothing happening here.

marthahm · 10/10/2006 12:15

well done swizzler and pmore. fantastic news, glad you're ok. still nothing happening here. i am being driven slightly mad by friends and family ringing/texting etc constantly to find out if i'm in labour. i'm not even at the due date yet! majormoo that must be a herculean effort to get in the car, i can only just manage with the driver side door fully functional.

luboo · 10/10/2006 12:18

Congrats Swizzler!!! Another boy! I've been told I'm having a girl and had wondered if the scan was wrong but with all these boys the odds of it being right are looking good!!
Enjoy your time with William. Hope I'm not long now....

jmcmugwump · 10/10/2006 12:25

Congrats to all the new mums - i'm so jealous!

Am now hoping that Lo stays put for the next 3 days so that we can get the funeral out of the way - I have had to promise my dad that I will take my hospital bag with me to the service in case we need to do a hospital dash on Thursday - I'm sure he thinks he will end up delivering the baby on the back seat of his car - have assured him that it is highly unlikely and we will probably get a little bit of warning in advance!

So as from Friday will be trying ecvery trick in the book to get this LO to put in an appearance, fresh pipeapple, check, raspberry leaf tea, check, curry, check, rumpy pumpy - not so sure about that - we would need a hoist of some description I am sure!!

wuzzlefraggle · 10/10/2006 12:39

congratulations pmoore and swizzler on your lo's!!

clon · 10/10/2006 12:48

Congratulations pmoore and Swizzler - great to hear of your arrivals, so much for the waning moon Swizzler William clearly wanted the full!!

emmy I'm so sorry to hear of your house probs, it must be very unsettling, I hope that you have your feet up and everyone is fussing over you to make up for it, little consolation but hope all gets resolved as soon as poss.

Gingeme, I'm in the fat feet club too, haven't seen my ankles bones for weeks!

No twinges to report here, thank goodness, still organising the house, my dh can't find anything now, he's not a fan of my tidying ha ha!

Another vote for arnica here - seems to be working well as stitches much less painful now. Also managed pain-free BM - don't you feel strangely proud of yourself Milliee?

Just sent DH out for food and some more cotton wool - I hadn't realised how much I would get through!

Sending good vibes to all you ladies due soon, especially those suffering. Lots of the aches and pains do go away (to be replaced by others, of course)... try and enjoy your last few days of sleep!

BENDYB · 10/10/2006 13:34

afternoon every1, I'm a bit confused bout arnica, i've heard people mention it before & heard how good it is, but, sorry 2 sound thick AGAIN, what is it? Is it tablets or cream or something? & what does it actually do? Some1 plz help! lol!
I'm ok youngmum still fed up tho & haven't yet been bothered 2 go out & get some of the tea! x

youngmum21 · 10/10/2006 13:44

it ok bendyb i was just wondering the same as you!!!! Was just about to ask wot it does and wot is it????

BENDYB · 10/10/2006 13:46

i've googled it & it all seems very confusing 2 me & i looked on helios & cant seem 2 find the childbirth kit thing! Surely i'm not that thick am i???!!!

marthahm · 10/10/2006 13:47

bendyb, arnica is a homeopathic remedy for bruising and shock. (it's great for kids when they bang themselves etc). have heard that it's good for during and after labour but hadn't really looked into it yet. sounds like a good idea though. great thing about homeopathic remedies is that they are not harmful. have to remember not to drink or eat anything for 15 minutes before or after you take them though-because that stops them working-no idea why. arnica comes in cream, tablets, little pills. it's the most easy to get hold of and boots should sell it or superdrug, although, from what millie says you need the 200c strength (the strongest i think) for labour and i don't know if you have to order that online, i don't think they'd sell it in boots etc. the others will be far more knowlegable on this having been through it, i'm going to go and look it up now
jcmugwump hope everything goes ok for the funeral and not giving birth.
swizzler, the mw told me 3.3 is 7lbs 5ozs. would you believe she seemed more excited by knitting than the examination (probably actually as the examination is always the same!) thanks to your help have been cracking on and may even be able to finish before the baby arrives.

BENDYB · 10/10/2006 13:53

thanks marthahm, i'm still confused tho! I think i am just really thick actually! lol. xxx

youngmum21 · 10/10/2006 13:58

i feel like im not very organised i havent got any tea or pineapple and i dont know anything boyt homepathic remidies
