wuzzlefraggle · 11/10/2006 12:25

hi swizzler yeah they were irregular i guess...probably having about 5-ish (give or take) every hour. i havent had one today yet, but thinking about it they have been happening for the last few weeks or so, just no where near as many or as uncomfortable as yeasterdays

wuzzlefraggle · 11/10/2006 12:26

hows ur pregnancy btw? u having anything like this?

wuzzlefraggle · 11/10/2006 12:39

got a question from another poster on the 'graduates' antenatal thread (we were on the same ttc boards together)...shes 34 weeks and when she is in silence, she can hear a clicking noise (like when your knees click) coming from the baby. shes sure its not her, as it only happens when the baby moves and when shes still. she says that its so quiet that it can only be heard in silence tho, that things like the tv would drown the noise out. any of you ladies have any experience of this or something similar??? thanks all

majormoo · 11/10/2006 12:49

good luck Totally. Exciting!
not sure wuzzle re the clicking. Your tightenings definitely sound like Braxton Hicks, which I think do get stronger the nearer to labour you get.
Fast labour there swizzler-it is great you are feeling so good-I felt absolutely battered by my speedy labour last time and am hoping for a slower one this time. Hope William starts sleeping a little longer soon.

Oh well our curry last night has not done any good, but at least we managed to have a meal out together which won't happen for a while.

nowanearlyNicemum · 11/10/2006 12:49

nope, can't say there's any clicking going on here. I'm intrigued...

wuzzlefraggle · 11/10/2006 12:55

oh bloddy hell thats right LOL sorry swizzler, you've already had your baby! i will take advantage of it and blame my pregnancy brain lol id forgotten

thanks girls for the replys, shes got a thread started in the pregnancy boards which one woman has just said that its the bubbles in the amniotic fluid popping (or so her midwife told her) so far thats the only explination had.

Good luck Totally! You are due the day before me so I hope I get going soon too - no signs of a show etc here tho'. It's exciting coming on now to see who else has gone in to labour!

Gingeme · 11/10/2006 13:51

Ooh sounds promising totaly. Keep us posted please? Nothing else happening here as far as baby concerned. Ive scrubbed my bathroom, polished every shiny surface, hoovered right through the flat might even attempt to mop now ds is in bed. Is this what they call nesting or is it me being paranoid about a home birth?
No idea about the clicking from baby. Sounds intriguing. Let us know what you find out wuzzle. Well take care ladies. Try not to get too wet in the rain. xxx

wuzzlefraggle · 11/10/2006 14:34

no problem gingeme, will keep you all posted if anything else is found out about the clicking thing. so far the only explination is that its bubbles in the amniotic fluid popping.

catgirl · 11/10/2006 15:02

totally: good luck. I was really sick at the start of my last labour.... looking forward to reading your announcement soon!

Gingeme - you put me to shame, I have done very little today - was meant to go nursing bra shopping, but the rain put me off, so that is tomorrow's job!
jmc has gone quiet - hope all is progressing/well.

swizzler - hope William sleeps for more than an hour at a time for you soon - but it is early days! It's all new to him too! Any hints for the Homerton (did you take your own pillow etc?) - four years and my brain has turned to mush!

'clicking' sounds interesting ...

mmmmchocolate · 11/10/2006 15:42

Hi been having loads of bh contractions last 2 days, i can't walk anywhere or as soon as i move i get one and it lasts about 1 min. i am due saturday.

I also been having stomach ache slightly but not like its been discribed on here, low down. its more all over and feels like i need a poo (sorry). desperate to get started as not slept for last 3 night and i am shattered. how does everyone else cope, i have a 2 year old too.

nicand2 · 11/10/2006 15:49

Sounds as if things are getting going for a few of you now, how exciting good luck to you all!!

I've had a right day so far. I think I've mentioned before that my nan has dementia well my mum phoned at 9.30 this morning from work to say that a passer by had found my nan wandering along the main road. I went over there as the dr and ss were on their way. It looks as though they are going to try and get her into somewhere in the next 48 hours which I must say will be a big relief for all of us.

My house is a tip but I'm too tired to care now and I really must concentrate on the babe's movements as I've been so busy.

I'm a bit dissapointed that I don't have any signs or twinges yet!!

nowanearlyNicemum · 11/10/2006 15:52

mmmchocolate - I have a 2yr old too and wouldn't consider myself to be 'coping' More, just about keeping my head above water! When dp got home last night I asked him to bath dd as I'm finding it really uncomfortable having to lean over and wash her and his response was 'I haven't got the energy' Felt like listing all the things that simply wouldn't get done if I stopped doing stuff I don't have the energy for. Such as making his dinner!!
moan over...

when will these contractions become regular and painful - right now, they're just bloody irritating!!! - ooops, I said moan over, didn't I?

Swizzler · 11/10/2006 16:23

majormoo: thespped of it all was a shock and I do feel rather battered, but having a day or so in hospital was great, esp as I had a side room - a chance for some quiet and to go over the details in my mind. V glad to be home now,

Wuzzle: I had the clicking sounds, but no idea what they were.

Catgirl: def take pillows. Also take your own nighties if planning to bf as I couldn't manage in the hospital one. It was really busy when I was in, inc some labours on the prenatal ward. Hopefully things will have settled down in a afew days - that pesky moon! Tho even when busy, mw's were still popping in to check on me and everything was cleaned regularly.

Any more news on the labour front?

DogMum · 11/10/2006 16:35

jmc, totally&gingeme, mmmchocolate? - it sounds exciting. Hope you're all doing well.

Not sure about the clicking, wuzzle. Is it regular? Could it be hiccups? That's a bit clicky and quite rhythmic.

nicand2, hope you get things sorted out for your Nan soon.

Nothing happening here (apart from a brief gap in the rain.) Just off to checkout homeopathic remedies.

jmcmugwump · 11/10/2006 16:46

Hi all thanks for your kind wishes - am still at home, although contractions still seem to be quite regular at about 5 mins apart, and last for about 30 seconds, tried to get a kip earlier (when poor OH went to see his Dad for the last time at the funeral place - told him he had to go as he might not be able to say goodbye tomorrow) and not a hope in hell of sleeping through the contractions. They have definitely got stronger, still convinced I am just effacing though and I really don't want to go through the whole going to the hospital and then being sent home after waiting a couple of hours, we live really close to the hopsital so am not too concerned about leaving it too late. As it looks like things are not going to wait until Friday am going to try some bouncing on my birthing ball to seeif that will move things along a bit quicker, oh and some paracetamol and a hot compress thing - I think this could be it - OMG (sorry for long post)

marthahm · 11/10/2006 16:54

wow jmc! how exciting. is it very painful? -stupid question i suppose. will be thinking of you. hope it goes well

totallyfloaty35 · 11/10/2006 16:58

Hi ladies, pains every 6 mins an they lasting longer,my mate just came to do my feet which seemed to make it all more painful,mw on way as having home birth so will wait til she says if its the real thing, DH hiding in kitchen cooking up a storm, got tens machine on max and am guzzleing wine on mw orders, will keep you posted

wuzzlefraggle · 11/10/2006 17:23

eeee, totally and jmc, this looks like it could be it for you both!!

dogmum - from what i gather they are not regular, but she (nataliejane, u may have read some of her posts on other threads) says that they are so quiet that it could be happening when the tv is on etc.

swizzler - did you speak to your midwife about the clicking noises? did you get any sort of an explination at all?

marthahm · 11/10/2006 17:37

good luck totally. amazing to think that within 24 hours you and jcm should both have your babies in your arms.hope the homebirth goes well, my cousin had fantastic experiences having her 2nd and 3rd at home

EmilyTurner · 11/10/2006 18:17

Congratulations to all the new mums and their babies. Fantastic that you are all well.

37+3 today and saw midwife. Been told to have sex. I tried that on Friday and it really was grit my teeth and think of England! Had a curry last night and just got some raspberry leaf tea tablets.

wuzzlefraggle · 11/10/2006 18:28

i take it that you are trying to hurry things on a bit Emily?

luboo · 11/10/2006 18:48

Just had to come on for a quick moan about DH. I don't know if I'm being too needy but I just don't feel very supported at the moment. I have 2 days to go until my due date (first baby) and he seems to be finding every excuse to enjoy his so-called last few days of freedom. Going to play golf, out afer work to watch the football. If he does come home he just goes to bloody sleep. We don't have family or friends near us and I feel like I'm sitting at home all day on my own and then having to spend all evening / weekend on my own, after eating my dinner on my own. Have explained this to DH but seems to go in one ear and out the other. Sorry for moan - maybe I'm just being over-emotional.

Swizzler · 11/10/2006 19:11

Luboo: do you have anyone ele nearby who can stay with you while your DH is out? If not, you do need him to be around, esp in these last few anxious days,

Jmc: I left it till I had contractions every 5 mins and was 4cm dilated when I arrived.

Totally: good luck for the homebirth.
