Newcy -that's my due date and I'm a new mum to be as well Smile how are you feeling? Any symptoms?

Thanks for the info about the early scan, I'll talk to the other half to get his opinion but he is pretty useless (about from the conception part!). This may be a stupid question but do you have signs of a MMC?

Newcy · 21/10/2014 18:50

Congratulations ktd2u! I am feeling very excited, but also scared....unsure of what is normal....I have been feeling sick, tired and I have had some cramps....how are you? have you had any symptoms yet?

ktd2u · 21/10/2014 18:53

I have had some tummy pains last week and really weird dreams but so far not anything major. I did notice i had a few spots on my face which is what made me think I was pregnant but they seem to have cleared up now...although it sure that is a good thing. Have you been to see the dr yet?

Newcy · 21/10/2014 18:54

Yeah I have been to the doctors but haven't seen a midwife...apparently it will be a few weeks before they call with an appointment. Have you been to the docs? I have had loads of spots too!

chaoscausingboys · 21/10/2014 18:55

gingerbreadmam I am so sorry about the pain this early. I am very bloated particularly in the evenings and wouldn't be surprised if trapped wind was causing a problem. I think its the impact of hormones and stuff shifting around there. One thing I strongly remember with DS1 was the amount of lower backache early on (didn't get it with DS2 am assuming as my pelvis or whatever has widened and stayed there!!), it wasn't trapped wind but seemed to be some kind of widening somewhere.. could be wrong I just remember it.

jazzyjenbo · 21/10/2014 19:05

I am exactly the same as chookford, had medical management at 9 weeks as my baby hadnt developed properly.

This time had a scan at what i though was 6 weeks... Lmp 20/8, oved cd13, but they said 4/5... Saw sac, yoc but no fetal pole... I took that as a positive rather than focusing on negative. Sac was in the right place and pregnancy is very hard to date so early.. The sac was 0.2cm
Went back 2 weeks later.. I thought i should be 8 weeks going off their 4/5 last time should b about 6weeks was 7+... Strong heartbeat etc
I personally would go to the scan, i think it is better to find out earlier that things either are looking hopeful or have ended and you can get the medical help to miscarry if that is what is required. Stay positive!!

Pas - your dd would have the nasal flue spray rather than the injection, neither of my kids had any side effects after theres.

I had my booking appointment today. Asked about higher dose folic, she knew about the research and checked my bmi (30) they issue it at 30 here.
Shes sent off an email to the hospital to get scan dates.
She thought it was great that i'd taken the initiative and organised my own early scans.
Didnt mention (and i didnt ask about) flu jab.
Seeing her again on 25/11 (14wks) but should have scan before that.
I also asked about spotting after dtd, she said it was very normal to get a tinge of pink and not to worry unless accompanied by pain.
So now just the waiting game until 12 week scan date x

Had my first appt with midwife today, and then was whisked upstairs for a flu jab with the nurse. Cycling home with a big blue folder sticking out of my bag made me feel rather self-conscious!! All went well, my BMI was bang on 35, and I was a little shocked to learn that means an automatic referral to a consultant, and an anaethetist, free vouchers to slimming world and a test for diabetes! 1lb less and I'd have missed out on all that fun!!

MrsKrios · 21/10/2014 19:09

Hi all, can I join? Due June 10th with a very big surprise DC3. I've had two losses and have severe anxiety so I'm finding these early weeks really terrible to be honest. I'm too worried to feel happy and I literally can't relax. I'm just so scared all of the time Sad

gingerbreadmam · 21/10/2014 19:10

thank you chaos. apparently it is normal im jus surprised at how painful it is, scares me about whats to come. at least it is slightly reassuring though. thanks.

ktd2u · 21/10/2014 19:11

I haven't been to the docs yet, waiting until next Friday as then about 7 weeks. Need to register with a docs as recently moved house.

Appreciating the thread and reading everyone's experiences. Have you changed your diet at all gingerbreadmam? I find half an apple and a 2/3cm piece of ginger juiced helps. It is from the Jason vale recipe app - ginger is anti inflammatory and the apple has soluble fibre. Might be worth a try. Quite a few first timers on here Grin

Osney · 21/10/2014 19:13

I agree, go to A&E and tell them it's too painful to sit...they'll take you seriously! Good luck xxx

jazzyjenbo · 21/10/2014 19:16

Mmc can present in different ways... Some ppl get as far as 12 week scan and are told their baby either hasnt developed at all (blighted ovum) or that the heart has stopped in a previous week.
Some ppl may have spotting or cramps and get referred for an earlier scan say at 8 or 10 weeks and then be told that the pregnancy isnt progressing.
Some people report a complete lack of or change in symptoms
Some just 'have a feeling' that things arnt as they are ment to be (maybe comparing to previous pregnancy)
Mmc can also happen later into the second trimester... Usually the mmc is caused by chromosomal abnormalities that are not genetically linked.. I.e sumthing you or dp has carried, just that the egg split wrong so the incorrect building blocks are there.
Statistically they are rarer than mc, but this thread has lots of women who have been through this and will all prob have a different sequence of events which lead to the discovery of the mmc.
Hope that helps

Thanks jazzyjenbo that is a useful insight. I guess I am trying to be philosophical about everything at the moment with the que sera sera attitude as prone to being negative and often these things are out of our control. I've was taking preconception tablets, I've changed my diet and now on pregnacare vitamins so I guess I'm doing everything in my control to have a positive outcome. Let's see how long this mental state lasts! ??

gingerbreadmam · 21/10/2014 20:04

Thanks ktd will give that a try. Not changed diet as such but definitely in the food aversions stage so could be that. Will try it out thanks so much for your help.

PerpetualStudent · 21/10/2014 20:15

Hi all, please help me as Im having a serious freak-out evening.

For past two evenings I've been getting period-y type cramps. Had this in & around 5th week, but now 7+3, and haven't had them for a while.

My morning sickness has gone up a notch the past couple of days, and we saw a happy bean on an early scan last Thurs, so my rational side says this is just a symptom, maybe brought on by a new influx of hormones. But my irrational side is ruling and Im freaking out!

Is anyone else still having cramps? Or experienced this is previous pregnancies?

cuphat · 21/10/2014 20:40

Fingers crossed for you, chaos.

My scan is first thing too, ots, but then I got to pick the time. I'm no good at waiting all day.

cuphat · 21/10/2014 20:41

Sorry I can't help, perpetual as I've only ever had cramps before my bfps. I know lots of people continue to get them though.

silversixpence · 21/10/2014 20:48

Just joining the new thread.. DH has gone off on a jolly residential course and taken my laptop so writing on my phone. Feeling nauseous but I think less tired than I was which is good as I'm on my own with 2 kids!

Not had my booking appointment through yet. The GP did my flu jab when I went in and I've had a slightly sore arm but it has been fine otherwise.

FreeWee · 21/10/2014 21:14

How are people letting the GP/midwife know without an appointment? I was told ar number 1 I wouldn't need an appointment to tell them about new number 2 but I can't remember what they said!

cuphat · 21/10/2014 21:36

Call the surgery reception and they'll tell you what to do. Last time, I didn't see anyone till 12 weeks (they gave me a number to call the hospital and make an appointment for booking in/scan at 12 weeks) but they've changed it to 8 weeks now (I was given a midwife appointment and got a scan date at that). So it's different everywhere, and also from year to year.

ots · 21/10/2014 21:39

I just called the surgery and said I was pregnant and they arranged a MW appointment. I saw her friday just gone, and while I was there she arranged my booking in appointment (I'll be 10 weeks). Then she said she would arrange a scan for me, and had an appointment for that in the post today.

cuphat I've added your scan date to the stats list :)

cuphat · 21/10/2014 21:42

Thanks very much ots Smile . It seems ages away!

Thanks SunbathingCat Smile I guess the unpredictability and the variability of pregnancy just adds to the stress. I've had a dodgy tummy tonight, does anyone know if it's linked to the pregnacare vitamins? On my own for 2 weeks as the dh away so not sure if it could just be I'm anxious on my own Hmm

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 21/10/2014 22:07

I've had a dodgy stomach after eating last night and tonight. Am also taking pregnacare so it could be that but I don't remember it from last time. I think it's just one of the joys of this stage...
