Morning all

I'll be getting the flu jab too, I had it last time. I didn't get any side effects other than a sore arm for a day. I read somewhere that getting the flu when pregnant can cause damage to the baby, although I haven't researched that.

I am more of an 'accept all medical advice without question' type!

I had the whooping cough vaccine last time too and I will again if offered it. Whooping cough can be v dangerous for tiny babies. You have to have that one at a certain stage of pregnancy i think to make sure the baby is covered once born. Can't remember when though!

Thanks for the shiney new thread - exciting that we're on number 2 (or three Wink) already.

perr I got the flu jab a few weeks ago. I've had it every year for the last 7 as I work for the nhs. Only on one year did I feel a bit crap for a day afterwards (mildly fluey) and that was the year they did the swine flu one as well. I just get an achy arm with a swollen lump for about 3-4 days. Flu can be particularly nasty for us when pregnant and easier to catch due to lowered immune system www.babycenter.com/0_flu-during-pregnancy_10313151.bc

There also also some research that links it to issues for the your developing baby but I'm not sure how well that research was completed or how big the studies were (and therefore whether the risk is significant or not).

Here you all are!

Swifey · 21/10/2014 09:09

Hi girls! I'm new to this thread, have been on the 'maybe may maybe June' one! But thought I would pop in and say hello! I had an mmc in July, and am now 7 or 8 weeks pregnant, the reason I don't know exactly is because I thought I was 7+5 when I went for an early scan at epu last week, but the sonographer thought more like 6+6, but was quick to say that the foetus grows erratically at this point, which is why they do a dating scan at 12 weeks, and not before! There was a little blob with a heartbeat, so that's put my mind at rest a bit! This is my second, I have a ds who is 2.5, I am 36 and am in Wiltshire, do I add to the stats myself, or are one of you lovely ladies in charge? I am suffering massively from nausea, only been actually sick a few times, but the nausea is constant, all night as well, so not much fun! Well, sorry for that being so long, congratulations to everyone! Xx

notsoold · 21/10/2014 09:20

Hello there!!! Sorry I have been quiet. It is just my nerves and the lack of symptoms....
Welcome swifey....hope you have a uneventful pregnancy.

I had the flu jab yesterday and it wasn't as bad as some people. The gp offered and I did not9t think twice....

haribo I hope they offer the wooping cough one as well later on!!!!

Have a great day everyone and good vibes for the tiny little wonders we are carrying. My sil said it will be a girl (she tends to be right) but db says a boy due to being boys before.... I just want a baby Grin

Choccywoccydodah · 21/10/2014 09:29

Morning!
I can't remember if I had the flu jab last time tbh!
So I've made 4+6 no bleeding!!! 5 weeks tomorrow woohoo!
Furthest I've been without spotting so I'm very relieved! No major symptoms though, anyone else the same? Just feel a bit sick to the throat sometimes, and slightly crampy.

ots · 21/10/2014 09:32

Together with all my siblings, in the order we have had children, the sexes have fallen in a pattern. From the oldest down it goes
Boy boy girl boy boy girl boy. So my baby being next if it would fall in the pattern it would be a boy, however the baby we lost would have been that boy, so if it follows this one should be a girl.
By the way, I know this is total bollocks but my mum and sisters are convinced it will be a girl haha. I truly don't care either way, I just want it to get here and for everything to be OK :)

Welcome and congratulations swifey. You can just add yourself to the stats, only works on a computer though.

Choccywoccydodah · 21/10/2014 09:34

Lol ots! You'll have your hands full! My friend has 7 kids and hers were all girl boy girl boy girl boy........boy! The last one was and accident, her dh had the chop after number 6 and it didn't work!
I can't add myself to the stats btw, I don't have a computer! Only dh laptop but I don't like using it!

Good luck with the midwife Sunbathing and welcome Swifey!

I am on my computer but can't see how to edit the google doc, will try again later.

Chookford · 21/10/2014 10:17

welcome and copgrats on the bfp swifey and welcome any one I may have missed!

Thats great news choccy am sure this one will be a lovely sticky one!

On the subject of boy vs girl we are a family of girls my nephew was the first boy born for 29 years, and think he will be the last!! so I think my hubby is resigned to the fact he will be surrounded by girls in our house! He has a 10yr dd from a previous relationship too so he really is outnumbered! I honestly couldnt give a monkeys what we have as long as its ok! Grin

Chookford · 21/10/2014 10:18

sorry forgot to say good luck with the midwife today sun

MrsExtraOrdinary · 21/10/2014 10:36

Hope the midwife is able to put your mind at rest today sunbathing. I'm off to the GP shortly. This is going to be a very long 5 months.

That's a load of rubbish envious! I'm quite shocked they said that. The midwife didn't do mine last time (I saw a nurse) but I think that was because my booking in appt wasn't until 12 weeks. I'll let you know later today!

Thanks for the list.

Loiterer · 21/10/2014 11:20

Hello everyone again. Marking my place. We aren't supposed to be telling anyone until after the 12 week scan, but I'm really struggling with feeling excited on my own one minute to trying not to think about it too much incase it doesn't stick. I'd really like to enjoy this time but I'm almost consumed with worry and 'what ifs'.

Loiterer · 21/10/2014 11:21

Sorry I read that back and realised I sound like the voice of doom! Confused

fortywinx · 21/10/2014 11:32

Oooh shiny new thread! How is everyone today?

I will probably get a flu jab. I've been offered it generally before because of my asthma and rhinitis, but have never bothered. I think I've only had full-blown, actually horrific flu twice in my life, but it's not something I'd want to put my body through at the moment!

I'm feeling much better this week, barely any nausea. Almost normal apart from the tiredness and hunger. I've already eaten an iced doughnut and a sausage sandwich this morning. I'm going to be the size of a house by the time I get to my booking in appointment at this rate.

Oh, and I've been craving cheese and tomato sandwiches on white bread (I normally eat seeded, brown wholemeal), cut into squares just like my Granddad used to make me when I was a kid XD At least it includes something vaguely healthy I guess!

Choccywoccydodah · 21/10/2014 12:08

Loiterer don't worry we all know what you meant!!

Forty rhinitis must be a bitch!! I've have a very stuffy nose for 2 of the 7 I lost, thankfully only lasted a couple of days but I literally could not breathe through either nostril and had to sleep upright!
Thankfully this time I have had 5 days of stuffy runny nose 12-16dpo and that was it. Fine when u was lying down at bedtime, just crap all day!

And I have my scan date!! Next Thursday at 1.20pm, I will be 6+1 Grin they couldn't do Friday. Stay in there sticky one!!!!

Loiterer · 21/10/2014 12:30

I'll try and relax Brew

Maybe it would help if I booked an early private scan. DH would think I was mad though.
