Good luck Diddly. I hope it's not all over for you - fingers crossed.

MsMittens · 03/11/2014 14:01

Hello hello

Diddly Thanks hope you get good news.

Had jumped off the thread until after our 12 weeks scan but we had our scan on 27 Oct and we have one little wriggler present and correct so now feel a bit more confident being on the thread! This is DC2 for us and DC1 is currently 21 months. I would be grateful for a tutorial on how to update the stats spreadsheet.

Had a weekend of being an unbridled bitch to my poor DH. And today I feel horrendous about it (to the point of tears at my desk about what a dreadful wife I am. Oh the pregnancy irrationality.....Anyone else snappy and irritable at the moment?

I now officially look like whale which is not good. I started antenatal yoga on Saturday and was suitably envious of all the football bumps. I simply look like I have had a few too many pasta lunches Blush.

Ladies, what are thoughts on NCT membership?

I'm thinking of becoming a member and going to coffee mornings etc but not sure I fancy forking out all the money on the courses. Can you even do this?

I just want to have some pregnant/mummy friends when off work.

Help anyone?

Ps have first scan on Wednesday Grin not sure if I am excited or worried. Am I stupid to think they will find there is nothing there? X

MsMittens · 03/11/2014 14:13

Ellstor

You can do the course without being a member so I assume you can be a member without doing the course.

FWIW the NCT course that I did with DC1 was worth every penny. Although I learnt nothing new I did meet women who were having a baby in the same month as I was in my local area and of our group of 7, 6 of us still hang out regularly despite people having moved away from the area. It was invaluable having people who were at the same stage in their babies development to just ask "is this normal?" or "what are you doing re (bf-ing, sleep training, weening etc)."

In fact we are doing a refresher course (much to DH chagrin) as we have moved area and I want to make more "mummy" friends as I am now working full time. I have also signed up to loads of facebook pages for local mum's groups and activities too as I way to stalk make friends with local mums.

Titsalinabumsquash · 03/11/2014 14:37

I've been the bitch from hell too, my DP dunked his biscuit in my cup of tea that he'd made me at the weekend and I sobbed at him that I'm sick of having nothing that's just mine! Blush

This pregnancy still doesn't seem real somehow though, I'm scared I'm going to get to a certain point later down the road and suddenly it's going to hit me and I'm going to freak out majorly, I thought the scan would make it sink in, or telling everyone but no, I don't feel pregnant particularly and I don't feel a need to talk about it, buy stuff or anything like that, I'm not sure what it's all about at all. Confused

I have the psychiatric midwife this week and a full physio assessment, I have such a busy week that I know is going to be tough and painful. I'm longing for it to be over.

Sunshinesaz86 · 03/11/2014 14:55

Hi mittens congrats on scan! Sorry your feeling emotional!

U too tits hopefully it's just raging hormones and it'll pass and FX DH will understand!

I finally had my scan today! All looking healthy thanks god, baby was sleeping and guess what numpty forgot to drink water before I got there so had rather empty bladder! Felt like a naughty school girl being told off!! She got me rocking a bit and baby finally stretched out so she got measurements and pics etc!! Grin got moved two days forward too so rather than 12 +2 I'm 12+4 so due date is now 14th!

May 2015: Thread 3 - Let's do this :)
MsMittens · 03/11/2014 15:15

Hello baby sunshine - congrats on the scan.

ellstor good luck with your upcoming scan and same to everyone else with scans this week.

tits glad I am not the only one being a bit irrational with DP/DH. Hope your appointments go well this week too.

I am at work and finish at 4 so just cannot wait to get home and have a cup of tea and a snuggle with DD. Its getting too cold out and I think I should just hibernate until the warmer weather returns.

Titsalinabumsquash · 03/11/2014 15:27

I think for the sake of family and friends, I'm going to get this week over and done with then make a conscious effort to be a bit nicer and patient with people, atm I'm actively avoiding people because I'm struggling to hold my tongue where I normally would.
DP is a saint to be putting up with me, I can't stand being touched in any way, I'm either asleep or being miserable. Blush

2preteendramaqueens · 03/11/2014 16:26

I had my scan this morning and everything was in the right place and only 1 baby Smile 1 very active baby that wouldn't stay still to be measured , I'm a week ahead of what I thought I was so I'm due 7th May now which makes me 13+ 5 Smile we got some really clear pics and it was sucking its hand and had the other arm above its head

2preteendramaqueens · 03/11/2014 16:27

I forgot to add iv beena right moody cow over the weekend soo hid away inthe bedroom from dp and the dds as I know I was be horrible

bradders85 · 03/11/2014 17:13

I have had another scan today after small bleed last week and all is ok, baby was more active than at our 12 week scan so was nice to see baby waving! 14+4 and first day back in work wearing maternity work trousers, a few comments on my little bump too!

Royalsteph · 03/11/2014 17:36

great news on all the scans. good luck to those who haven't had theirs yet

BeanCalledPickle · 03/11/2014 17:56

On the NCT thing I would say generally it's worth it. I say that from the point of view of someone who didn't gel with her group in the slightest and we now don't see each other at all! But everyone else I know really made good friends and I'm quite bitter that I didnt!

There is also NCT post natal to expand your circle further.

I think you just have to look at it as essentially paying 300 quid to meet some nice people. Depending on what else is going on you may consider this worth it, or not at all!

Totally don't feel pregnant now! Not sick or exhausted anymore! Though raging hunger all the time!

mumxof3x · 03/11/2014 18:06

Thankyou bradders and sunshine. Ive had quite alot of periody cramps in stomach and back today and a tender tummy, isnt it all abit worrying at times x

KittyVonCatsington · 03/11/2014 18:08

Wonderful news about scans MrsMittens and Sunshine (especially the lovely pic!) and 2preteen - did DH get to go, Sunshine?

MrsMittens, what device are you using to view Mumsnet? You should just be able to add your row and it saves automatically.

Not going to bother with NCT as I don't agree with their methods/teachings and will attend a different group run by an independent midwife instead. I attended a class with my pregnant SIL three years ago and just got more and more annoyed as each week went by! SIL isn't still in contact with anyone anyway. Besides, I am lucky and have four close/local friends currently pregnant too.

Thank God Baby is okay bradders so relieved! I too am wearing maternity work trousers (from JoJoMamon) and I love them! Comfort personified Grin

Have we heard from mrsd yet?! I hope her little one is okay

Good luck with the scan tomorrow mum!

BeanCalledPickle · 03/11/2014 18:26

Yeah they are all about natural birth and breastfeeding. I was always having a section but went anyway and it is ok if you tune it out. Ignore the info and just buy your friends!

ellstor · 03/11/2014 18:34

I may join, will have to discuss with dh who no doubt will think its a waste of money.

Another note- all my colleagues are coming down with a horrible sickness diarrhea bug, tomorrow I will go in armed with a scarf so it can double up as a face mask for protection . I do not want to put myself at risk of getting ill but no one knows I'm pregnant yet so will think I am right hypochondriac!

Has anyone had a big when preg - any issues arise?

jazzyjenbo · 03/11/2014 18:37

Yay to all the positive scans today and thinking of those who have not yet updated or ate having scans over the coming days.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if Zinc levels are checked on your booking bloods?

I've not had mine yet as my mw is 'out of area' to the hospital i'm using so wont have bloods until scan date. I went to the dentist today who suggested i may have a zinc deficiency as i have been getting weird markings on my tongue. He said it would be worth getting blood tests. If anyone has there results could u check to see if zinc is tested for and if anyone has any info/knowledge of zinc could u please share your thoughts. Thanks

BeanCalledPickle · 03/11/2014 18:37

Yeah I had two. Was utterly horrendous but entirely harmless as long as you stay as hydrated as possible and it passes with 24 hours or so.

You don't have to be a member to go to Nct coffee mornings etc. Just to sign up to courses.

CostaLotta · 03/11/2014 20:27

Hello ladies, so lovely to see the scan pictures!! I've got my scan tomorrow morning, feeling a bit nervous. I think I'm only about 10.5 weeks so not sure if it will be too soon.

My friend did NCT and met a lovely group of friends. I didn't but still met nice people through baby massage and baby yoga. You have definitely got to get out and join some groups, they pass the day on if nothing else!!
