I am loving all the birth stories.
My birth with dd was perfect. I had an elcs so I turned up at the hospital at 7am as I was first on the list. I went to theatre around 8.30 and was ready with the spinal working by 9.15. Dd was born at exactly 9.30. She was shown to us and weighed, dried etc and given a hospital hat and handed straight back for a bf in theatre while they were stitching me up.
We were in recovery by 10am and back on the ward before 11am.
I was moved to a private room just after lunch and had visitors at 2pm.
It was all so calm and easy. I was up walking around the next morning.
If it hadn't been for the feeding problems we had we would have been home the day after I was up walking but she struggled to feed and we ended up in for 7 nights.
That's one of the reasons I want a vaginal birth, sections can make your milk coming in a bit delayed and this time I don't want anything to interfere with that but dp really doesn't like the idea of a vbac, he is worried about my safety. We have a lot of talking to do!

My poor poor baby :( ds3 got the bug from ds2 but hes been so much worse, was really projectile vomiting, I had to put ds1 in bed with OH and take ds1 mattress into ds3's room so I could sleep on floor at side of him, I lost count of how many times he woke up being sick but it was over 10 poor baby. Just waiting on ds1 and me getting it now.

Hope everyone has a lovely sunday x

Sunday Lunch at a local pub methinks Grin

BeanCalledPickle · 09/11/2014 11:12

I had an ELCS as well as it was similar to your experience, save for the fact I don't really remember it I was so baked with exhaustion. Didn't sleep the night before and the two nights on the ward were horrendous. Ear plugs next time! People being admitted every hour of the night. The noise! It wasn't particulatly painful though I do remember it being twelve and they had said no more morphine until two and I thought that seemed a very long time!

I remember getting out the nipple shields in hospital as the initial feeds really hurt!

I think no matter how bad it is this time I will be chanting 'you never have to do this again' to get me through!

mumxof3x · 09/11/2014 12:57

Thanks everyone, hes still not right but not been sick as much, but pretty happy in himself still. but no sleep in this house is pretty much the norm hes not a great sleeper normally anyway.

FeelingBlessed77 · 09/11/2014 19:37

2 preteens I don't think your boss can do that. It is a basic human right to be able to go to the toilet and drink. how many week are you? amazing that your daughter was able to feel baby move.

KittyVonCatsington · 09/11/2014 19:43

It depends what you do 2preteen as to whether toilet breaks are allowed as there are plenty of jobs where you can't just go when you want to (surgeons/teachers/lorry drivers etc etc) but I assume you don't have that sort of job and as a pregnant woman, a risk assessment should be drawn up for you to allow you whatever you need, to do your job safely for you and the baby. Let us know how you get on fixing this and Brew and Cake in the meantime xxx

Mslad · 09/11/2014 19:43

I agree with blessed surely it's your right to go to the toilet or have water if you need it? especially when pregnant?

Amazing that you can feel movement already! How many weeks are you? Apparently my placenta is at the back so will be able to feel movement earlier and more often, but I would have thought I would still have to wait till about 18 weeks. It must be such a weird feeling, the first time you feel it

CostaLotta · 09/11/2014 19:51

Hope your little boy feels better mumof

How exciting feeling movement!! I can't wait for that feeling again.

preteen I'm sure your boss can't stop you from going to the toilet if you need it. Is there a HR dept you can speak to? Or Union?

2preteendramaqueens · 09/11/2014 20:18

I work in Argos so there is enough of people to cover me it's a new rule as some people were taking the pee , I get on with my boss sometimes I do need to have a bit of a paddy to get my point across to him lol
I'm 14 weeks but it's my 3rd and in the morning when I turn on my back from my side the baby has a bit of a rave Grin
Iv had a bit of a melt down with my eldest tonight she has some learning problems she's 11 but is more like a 6yr old so it's hard when she's naughty Hmm

Wow some amazing birth stories over the past few days!

My 2 births have been very different first with lots of complications the second not so bad.... I will write them down but if any of you are squeamish or really don't want to know what 'can' go wrong in labour please skip to birth 2!!

Birth 1
40+9 - 20hrs, ds, 7lb
Pains started at 2am, not to intense and dozed through them, started timing at 6am, 4 mins apart by 8.30am. Arrived at birth centre and had private room with pool. Continued to labour slowly, wasnt checked until 2pm (12hrs) only 2cm... But still contracting every 3/4 mins.... Fast forward to approx 4pm... Felt sick, was sick in empty birthing pool!!.. I thought it was hilarious, laughed so hard i burst my waters.
Pains got worse, and at about 6ish it was suggested i got into a normal bath with shower over... I enjoyed having the hot water but not moving made me feel sick, felt i needed to push after about an hr (7pm) so they got me out to check... I was only 5cm.
I was getting stressed and tired so they suggested i could have diamorphine, it would mean no birth pool but they wanted me to rest to i had the jab.
I actually dozed off but woke with more gushing down below, mentioned it to mw and she was abit dismissive saying it was waters... After more gushes i asked dh to pull the sheet back and check.. I was bleeding heavily!
Panic stations and they bundled me into a wheelchair and took me downstairs to central delivery where they finally said i was 10cm and needed to get baby out, he had a monitor clipped to his head and it was clear after about 1hr pushing he was in distress and the got him out via ventouse and episiotomy (local anaesthetic given) 10:41pm
Ds didnt breath and needed resus, but he was ok after afew minutes.
They gave me injection for placenta, the cord snapped and i started bleeding from retained placenta so with ds 30mins old and have no time to feed or skin to skin i went to surgery for 3 hrs... Given full spinal and had a mini panic attack so needed oxygen.. Placenta was huge and what they call 'double lobed' .. Turns out ds was a twin early on (i never knew as it was never on a scan)
I went to recovery where my skin to skin was cut short when a dim whit mw brought sumone elses family in to the next bed bay whilst i was lay there starkers, unable to move, with curtain wide open.
Stayed in for 2 days

Birth 2 - 11hrs (8hrs of pain), dd, 7lb 4oz
Waters broke at 5pm on due date (which was the day the olympic opening ceremony was on)... They told me to go into hospital at 9pm.. Pains started at 8pm... Was assessed and put on monitor until approx 11pm, was in labour but birth centre was full and only 1 bed on labour ward so went to an observation ward at 12pm (3/4cm) .. Was only there for about 30mins when i started to feel a familiar ache down below, asked to be checked and was 5/6cm... I asked to lie in a bath... At 3am i was getting an urge to push, checked and was 6cm but i insisted that this is how i felt shortly before ds was born... They call in transition.. U kind of feel like u loose control abit as you get used to switching from managing the pain to keeping still and pushing... Neway i went to labour ward and got on bed, mw was faffing saying right i'll just check u and i'm screaming the heads right there.. It was and dd's head was born at 4am and body at 4:05am.. I kept my hand on her head and let her slip onto my arm as she came out.
I had no pain relief during labour but had a tear back towards my bum and a labial tear... The back bit was stitched (and internally) but they didnt repair the labia incase it interfered with waterworks... It all healed fine and i cant notice a difference.

Sorry for epic post... For those who are on first pregnancies and reading my first birth you could think why would u do it again... Well i never have thought i had it bad, i had a day of hell to get my baby and i took him home with me.. That day i found my new role in life and i love being a mum and the overwhelming love you have for your children is priceless x
