Hello everyone I'm creeping back in. Been neglecting the threads but I promise to try harder! Think I'm 8+1 today, had early scan 2 weeks ago which changed my EDD to around May 30th. All day sickness has kicked in here, bleurgh.

Haribo you have PM. The one to one midwives sounds amazing.

I had a lovely labour in birth pool with DS and would like that again. I would love a home birth but DH is dead set against it so looks unlikely. My birth plan with DS was to do whatever I needed to do which will be the plan this time. Breastfeeding I found incredibly hard but I think I'm more realistic now about what to expect so will 100% be doing it again.

GinIsCalling · 20/10/2014 06:14

Just weighing in on breastfeeding. I planned to feed my first for a year, but he wouldn't take a bottle so ended up feeding for over two years!! I went back to work full time at a year but was still doing the bedtime feed and morning feed. It's exhausting!
This time I plan to give bottles of expressed milk from a month old and be much more proactive at getting him to take formula, before baby gets old enough to refuse it. I had no idea it could be so hard to stop breast feeding, I just assumed I'd introduce bottles at six months and then stop breastfeeding at a year.
But once my son got older he was so so insistent and cried for hours in distress if we tried to give him a bottle. In the end it took my husband two weeks of offering the bottle, and staying with him while he cried for over an hour to soothe him to sleep. I did enjoy feeding him when he was tiny, but have been putoff from doing it by the nightmare I had stopping.
Obviously I found it easy (too easy!) to breastfeed, but i really resent how it is pushed on mothers. I really fell for that whole 'breast is best' thing but although it may have been best for the baby, it was not best for me. I was working in a high powered job, managing lots of people, long hours etc. then up in night breast feeding, which is draining at the best of times.
Not saying formula is an easy option either, I don't want to be boiling water at 2am - but I do think it has a place and shouldn't be vilified.
Sorry, rant over!! I just feel so strongly about this!

Titsalinabumsquash · 20/10/2014 08:45

Feel horrible today, I didn't sleep well at all so I'm tired and very grumpy. I'm terrified for my 12 weeks scan tomorrow. I could do with a hot uncle bath, a really luxurious hot chocolate and a good book followed by a sleep in a freshly made bed.

speedbird17 · 20/10/2014 09:03

I am going to be cheeky and divulge that this morning I got up with DH and DD, saw them off on the bike. Then made myself porridge and a cappuccino (Nescafé instant, nothing special) and got back into bed with my laptop which is where I am staying until I have to collect DD today!

A bath and hot chocolate sound divine about now!

mumxof3x · 20/10/2014 09:08

Feel awful here too, horrible metal taste come back and feel sooo sick. Got revision to do as got a test tommorow but I really cant be bothered to do it x

Christelle2207 · 20/10/2014 09:11

I found bf really difficult last time- I basically never had enough and DS was permanently unsettled. We started giving him formula at about 10 days old and kind of battled through mix feeding until just after 6 months when he lost interest in the boob. I resent how pushed into it was and the lack of support I had in introducing formula though a lactation consultant was very helpful and reassuring that actually formula was fine. I was never given a drop of bm myself and over the course of his first year my son had far more formula than bm and he is thriving. I feel strongly about making sure DC2 has colostrum as this cannot be replicated by formula but beyond that we ll see how we get on. I will have two under 2 to look after and tbh am not going to sweat over bf this time like I did last time. Unless I find it easier this time I fully expect to not bf for long at all.

lumpyparcel · 20/10/2014 09:14

Oh no sounds like we're all feeling rubbish this morning. I had a failed attempt at getting up and getting breakfast so I've gone back to bed feeling sorry for myself.

I want in on the hot chocolate too please!
Hope everyone feels a bit better soon! Sickness is pants!

TheWildOnes · 20/10/2014 09:38

Another one feeling a bit rubbish, had a small amount of bleeding when wiping over the weekend so being sent for a scan in the morning. Fingers crossed all is ok. Had no pain so that's good.
Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

Sunshinesaz86 · 20/10/2014 10:12

I hope everything goes ok thewildone. No pain is a good thing! FX for u. X x

I have a day off today too, and just have a friend calling later to chill and gossip may even treat her to a hot chocolate as it sounds lovely! Hope your all feeling better later lumpy, mum and tits.

Thanks also for adding your experiences re BF christelle and gin always nice to hear the other side of the coin that u no doubt don't get told about. I can't imagine being back at work and doing all the day/night feeds still and then expressing inbetween. Sounds hard going!

Hello all,

I've been a bit absent from the thread, due to feeling generally tired and emotional over the last few days. I feel emotionally a bit better today, I just have some nausea to content with, but nothing that can't be fixed with some bread and crisps Blush

I've really enjoyed reading back over the thread this morning. As a first timer it's so great to have experienced people's views, and hand holding for everyone's worries.

Somebody mentioned fear of a panic attack at the birth? I know once I get over this fear of the 12 week scan, that will be my next big worry! but I suppose there'll be no going back and we'll just have to go through it Smile

It's been great to see some 12 week scan pictures, I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more healthy beans on here this week Smile

lumpyparcel · 20/10/2014 10:21

Ooops forgot to update on the whole dates fiasco. Rang the midwife and she's going to ring me back to see if they can get me in a scan this week. Nervous now.

Hope the scan goes ok in the morning thewildones xx

Hope you get something sorted lumpy xx

speedbird17 · 20/10/2014 10:45

I know it's really wrong, but I am a little bit green at the loss of weight. I normally follow a paleo/Low GI type diet and don't eat many carbs, as they really mess with my weight/hormones/PCOS/sugar levels. Right now though, they are all I am craving and in the last 4 weeks I have packed on 6lbs :( I don't think constipation is helping (sorry way tmi) but I am annoyed as I was very set on eating healthily and continuing my excercise regimes and already at 10-12w I am flagging and neding potatoes, pasta or bread with every meal :(

Sunshinesaz86 · 20/10/2014 10:59

Have u all heard the news! The duchess is due April!! So not one of our passengers maybe she'll be overdue? Wink

lumpyparcel · 20/10/2014 11:02

I've lost a bit of weight but I've been really sick. The MIL kindly pointed out that I'd lost weight and that I need to stay healthy for the baby. -__- I've really struggled to keep on top of eating to be honest. I've just had two slices of dry toast with cheese on so I'm quite proud of myself this morning! I wouldn't worry either way about loosing/gaining weight in the first trimester I did a lot of dreaded google research after I noticed and apparently there's plenty of time to put it right in the second tri. But I'm not an expert obviously.

Thanks mumxofx3 I hope to get it sorted soon so I know where I'm at! I just feel silly for not knowing how far along I am. :(

speedbird17 · 20/10/2014 11:15

Lumpy I put on 3st with careful diet and plenty of exercise until my SPD inhibited it last pg, am dreading the same happening as I never got the final 10lb off!! Going to be huge!!!

Something in the air as I too had a rubbish sleep. Constant nausea is not helping. I feel so sorry for you ladies with horrendous sickness.

Titsalinabumsquash · 20/10/2014 12:17

Tomorrow is taking forever to come, I've convinced myself that I'm going to find that baby's heart stopped beating between the last 8 weeks scan and now. Sad
I am still being sick regularly but I can't shake the feeling that something isn't as it should be.
I hate this!

Hi everyone, just back from our scan. All went well. Was really nervous beforehand as it was the first proper check on the baby but the images were really clear - he/she was wriggling their feet and toes and waving its fists and we could clearly see the heartbeat. The sonographer needed it to move for the nuchal measurement so got me to cough. We saw the baby jump and bring its hands up in front of its face before turning onto its side with its back to the screen, as if to say go away and leave me alone! Apparently it is a good size and a wriggler, and they have brought the EDD forward to 28th April.

FeelingBlessed77 · 20/10/2014 12:43

congratulations just. so pleased for you, and how lovely to see baby move.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 20/10/2014 12:46

Aww, how lovely just! Congrats
