The hormones have a lot to answer for dont they tiny? I cried at neighbours this afternoon (the tv programme not my actual neighbours)

I have spent the day on the sofa catching up on all my recorded programmes and feel much better for it, I think I need to start slowing down a bit.

TinyTear · 24/11/2014 09:56

scan in one hour... eeeeeeeek!

chiliplant · 24/11/2014 10:46

Good luck tiny! My scan is at twenty t four..its goingvt b a loooong day!x

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 24/11/2014 11:59

Good luck tiny! And chilli too!

Hope you're doing okay little?

Hope everyone is doing okay today?

My 20 week scan is one week today, been really lucky and got another 8am appointment. We also unfortuantely have a funeral that afternoon (DH's uncle) and now I'm hugely paranoid that we should have moved the scan to another day incase something is wrong. DH insisted we kept it though (he's ever the optimist!)

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 24/11/2014 12:06

Hope your scan went ok tiny and good luck with yours later chili

can anyone help me write a letter to my employers about when I want to take .maternity leave? Ive told them verbally but now need to do it in writing and I cant seem to do it, it feels like im jinxing things and then I starr getting anxious and cant think of anything to write.

Im sure I used to be a confident, capable person Hmm

TinyTear · 24/11/2014 12:17

All normal on the report but blooming child uncooperative for face, lips and heart so will go back in 3 weeks for another.

But listened to the HB and he did Doppler flow and all seemed OK.

TinyTear · 24/11/2014 12:20

However he also called a student in to see something unusual... Apparently my placenta is split in two, a main bit and a little bit, but as the cord enters the main bit it is OK, apparently if it was on the small bit of the bit between the two could lead to abruptions.

I wonder if the clexane had anything to do with it or if it was just luck of the draw...

Shetland · 24/11/2014 12:41

Glad your scan well tiny

Good luck for later chilli and jet

Speaking of 20 week scans - I don't have a date for mine yet, I'll be 20 weeks next Monday. Should I be chasing them up? Realistically I would expect it to be next week sometime so expected to have heard by now.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 24/11/2014 12:43

Glad it went well tiny

my little munchkin was breach for the scan so I had to do starjumps to get him to turn so she could get a good view of the heart.

where you offered an internal scan too? I refused to have it and she got really huffy with me, it was to check my cervix to see if I am at risk of premature labour, I have a fear of internal scans since my mmc.

TinyTear · 24/11/2014 12:54

No, not offered internal. She was breech too so not sure internal would have helped.

I even went for the snack but she didn't move...

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 24/11/2014 13:15

The starjumps didnt turn him but right at the end of the scan he suddenly turned so she got all the measurements she needed.

DP says he's already like his mother, bloody difficult Grin

TinyTear · 24/11/2014 13:19

I say mine is like her sister. Bloody stubborn and things have to be on her terms

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 24/11/2014 13:27

Im hoping beany will have dp's laid back attitude to life opposed to my much more organised/structured approach, although two of them insisting they will do it later might tip me over the edge Wink

Jetpackplease · 24/11/2014 13:57

So glad you had a good scan Tiny.

Good luck with yours Chili!

I have my 20 weeker at 3.30 and seriously bricking it now. Been distracted however as sadly DH's mum was taken to intensive care yesterday and so he is now 250 miles away with her. We've been told she won't survive and so the next week or so is going to be very hard, but I am just desperately hoping that I can give him good scan news later. Fingers crossed...

LondonSuperTrooper · 24/11/2014 14:23

Tiny congratulation on your good scan. And how lovely to see Newbie again in 3 weeks time :)

Chili good luck with your scan.

Jetpack best of luck with your scan. And sorry about your MIL :(

LittleBairn · 24/11/2014 16:56

Tiny so glad scan went well.
My babies are always difficult about being scanned I never know to be proud or embarrassed. DD once made her opinion clear by quickly turning around and baring her arse. Grin

smiling I hate it when they get huffy its so unprofessional.
In regards to the letter, I'm afraid I have no idea since I quit early on. Maybe just the date you intend to start from and that you intend to return. I wouldn't give a written return date its not legally required and you never know how you might be feeling.
Jet I'm so sorry about your MIL such terrible news. I hope all goes well with the scan too.

Nothing much going on here I feel uncomfortable at times but that's apparently common with a detaching sac.
Today is the stage in my pregnancy that I lost DD so this is pretty much the furthest I've been in pregnancy.

19+2

LIG1979 · 24/11/2014 17:10

Glad it went well Tiny and that you get another scan in a few weeks.

Just been on the phone to the hospital. Seem to be getting myself in a real state. They don't seem worried but I still haven't recovered from Friday. Not sure if it is indigestion or a tummy bug but I feel nauseous, bloated and quite damp down below. I seem to have a really bad feeling about things going wrong recently. The midwife didn't seem worried and said there has been a bug going around that doesn't cause sickness but that feeling. The baby is still moving and alive on the Doppler but I still feel uneasy although I guess if it is something horrible there isn't much they can do at 19+3. Not sure if my anxiety is making things worse too as I tend to feel quite sick when anxious.

Jetpack hope your scan went well.

LittleBairn · 24/11/2014 17:17

LIG that's dreadful that they are dismissing you like that. There might be a bug going around but she can hardly be sure of it over the phone!
Unfortunately no there is very little they will do at this stage. At most if you were dilating they might put a stitch in.
Do you have a temperature? If you have an infection then they will be more proactive more encased of the risk to you.
If it helps any I often feel damp but I've been told its nothing to worry about.
If your knickers are becoming damp then insit that they check for a pProms.

LittleBairn · 24/11/2014 17:18

Insist

Toucanet · 24/11/2014 20:46

Chili hello & hope your scan went ok today.

Jetpack, ditto especially with your DH away too - sorry about his Mum.

Tiny glad yours went well. Good that they'll check again in 3 weeks though. Sorry I dropped off mumsnet the past couple of weeks as busy with work, short trip abroad etc, but remembered it was your 20-wk today (should have been mine too but it got moved to 1600 tomorrow)...
MW found heartbeat last week 18+2 but still nervous due to general lack of symptoms except maybe hard nipples & tightish waistbands - but nothing definite, just like my mmcs. Occasional ligament pain though :) Think it doesn't help that while not showing yet can't help picturing friend who showed quite clearly from 14 wks!

I think it might have been you who asked about my driving licence loss (after I had a breakthrough seizure 7/11 after 3 years without) - it's 12 months, standard for a normal car licence. Luckily am near a train station but obviously frustrating. Suppose will have to tell parents too eventually - not told them about baby yet partly in case mc again, partly as don't expect them to be overjoyed. Annoyed now as having seizure & losing licence does make baby seem more of a bad idea (though of course loads of non-drivers and/or women with worse epilepsy do, just with sensible precautions e.g. changing them on the floor not a table, maybe someone else bathing them etc). Just know it will make them (even) less enthusiastic. (Though to be fair expect they will offer to help with lifts to the hospital etc - as live nearby - just awkward as though that might take less time would prefer to get there myself on public transport & not be reliant on/keep people in their 70s waiting)...will see what tomorrow shows anyway.

Shetland definitely chase that scan! Hopefully it's booked just not reached you.
LIG hope you start to feel better in the next day or so.

Little fingers crossed for you too.

LIG1979 · 24/11/2014 20:47

No temperature little. I think I wanted them to not be worried. Last pregnancy I was constantly concerned and bugging them and wanting them to check me over. this time when I think there is something wrong I want to ignore it. I think it is because if it doesn't work out, I don't think we will try again. I am also not sure if the stress is making my tummy bad.

LittleBairn · 24/11/2014 21:24

LIG I can understand that, I too are in the last chance camp too. I'm not sure I can put myself through this level of stress again.

Toucant 12 months doesn't sound too bad. I'm a non driver and being pregnant is the only time its been an issue with hospital appointments.
In regards to the baby, I would say non drivers need a decent buggy as it will be used so much more.
I'm sorry you parents won't be overjoyed, my in-laws wouldn't be either that's why we haven't told them.

I can't tell if I'm paranoid bit I'm wondering if I have a UTI. I feel fine (apart from uncomfortable) but I'm peeing a lot more than is usual and I pee a lot, but its not very much. I constantly feel like I do need to pee too.
I was wondering of I should go to my GP tomorrow?
I'm unsure incase I'm being paranoid a Uti is one of the main causes of pProms.

Shetland · 24/11/2014 21:46

So sorry about your mil jet Flowers

Good luck for tomorrow toucan

little if you're worried then I would go - can't hurt,

LittleBairn · 24/11/2014 22:10

I'm going to shetland my mum is coming over to take me to Drs and deep clean my house again. Yay. She has also bought me an early Christmas present a steam mop that does 10 different things Confused clearly there is more to steam mopping than I previously though!

Toucanet · 24/11/2014 23:53

LIG know what you mean especially if there's little/nothing that can be done now if anything were wrong. But if stress is making you ill maybe better to request more checks if it might help quell the worries?

Little I'd see GP/midwife. As Shetland says, can't hurt - you're uncomfortable & peeing more, but a check for UTI should be straightforward and hopefully put mind at rest. Sorry if you're a non-driver for medical reasons too (being in that camp myself find it hard to understand those who choose not to, though know there are a few)!

Good point about the buggy thanks. Irony is only just replaced my one and only 21-yr old 3-door car with 2-yr old 5-door owing to both having been ok for 3 yrs so hoping it'd last, & wanting 5 doors for baby! Once you get used to timetables it's not too bad is it. Just annoying to have driving freedom then lose it again & again (was fine for 12 years but 3 fits '08-'09 led to 2 yrs no driving. Started again late '10 but 4th in Sept '11 = another yr off - but as ok since, had got complacent that things were controlled now, & used to the freedom again. Most of my journeys are only 3-10 miles too meaning only 10-20 mins drive v >1hr walking/train/bus. S'pose can't be too safe/could be worse though.

thanks Shetland. Re last chances, fear same here; DH seems looking forward to it more as time goes by, but if we lose this the 'sensible' decision might win, i.e. if 3pgs = 3 mcs, me 40+ him almost 50 then perhaps should accept it's not happening - did pitch this from a 'want to try at least once more/3rd time lucky' angle too. Mustn't jump ahead though - just wish didn't have to wait till 1600!

smiling good luck with the letter - just figured better do mine before xmas if all ok, as legally it's due 1st thing in new year. Although that is one job you'd think should remember was outstanding after a few days off!
